1 And whanne it was don, that we schulden seile, and weren passid awei fro hem, with streiyt cours we camen to Choum, and the day suynge to Rodis, and fro thennus to Patiram, and fro thennus to Myram.
1 Nós nos despedimos deles e fomos embora, navegando diretamente para a ilha de Cós. No dia seguinte paramos no porto de Rodes e dali continuamos até a cidade de Pátara,
2 And whanne we founden a schip passinge ouer to Fenyce, we wenten vp in to it, and sailden forth.
2 onde encontramos um navio que ia para a Fenícia. Então embarcamos nele e seguimos viagem.
3 And whanne we apperiden to Cipre, we leften it at the left half, and seiliden in to Sirie, and camen to Tire. For there the schip schulde be vnchargid.
3 Quando já podíamos ver a ilha de Chipre, navegamos ao sul daquela ilha e seguimos em direção à província da Síria. Chegamos à cidade de Tiro, onde desembarcamos, pois o navio precisava ser descarregado.
4 And whanne we foundun disciplis, we dwelliden there seuene daies; whiche seiden bi spirit to Poul, that he schulde not go vp to Jerusalem.
4 Naquela cidade encontramos alguns cristãos e ficamos com eles uma semana. Então, avisados pelo Espírito Santo, eles disseram a Paulo que não fosse para Jerusalém.
5 And whanne the daies weren fillid, we yeden forth, and alle men with wyues and children ledden forth vs with outen the citee; and we kneliden in the see brenke, and we preieden.
5 Mas, quando chegou o dia de irmos embora, nós continuamos a nossa viagem. Aí aqueles irmãos, com as esposas e filhos, nos acompanharam até fora da cidade; e todos nós nos ajoelhamos ali na praia e oramos.
6 And whanne we hadden maad fare wel togidre, we wenten vp into the schip; and thei turneden ayen in to her owne places.
6 Depois de nos despedirmos, embarcamos no navio, e eles voltaram para casa.
7 And whanne the schip sailinge was fillid fro Tire, we camen doun to Tolamayda, and whanne we hadden gret wel the britheren, we dwelliden o dai at hem.
7 Seguimos viagem, navegando da cidade de Tiro para Ptolemaida. Ali encontramos e cumprimentamos os irmãos e passamos um dia com eles.
8 And another dai we yeden forth, and camen to Cesarie. And we entriden in to the hous of Filip euangelist, that was oon of the seuene, and dwelliden at hym.
8 No dia seguinte partimos e chegamos à cidade de Cesareia. Ali fomos para a casa do evangelista Filipe e ficamos com ele. Filipe era um dos sete homens que haviam sido escolhidos em Jerusalém.
9 And to hym weren foure douytris, virgyns, that profecieden.
9 Ele tinha quatro filhas solteiras que profetizavam.
10 And whanne we dwelliden there bi summe daies, a profete, Agabus bi name, cam ouer fro Judee.
10 Alguns dias depois da nossa chegada, um profeta chamado Ágabo veio da região da Judeia.
11 This whanne he cam to vs, took the girdil of Poul, and boond togidere hise feet and hoondis, and seide, The Hooli Goost seith these thingis, Thus Jewis schulen bynde in Jerusalem the man, whos is this girdil; and thei schulen bytake into hethene mennys hoondis.
11 Ele chegou perto de nós, pegou o cinto de Paulo, amarrou os próprios pés e as próprias mãos e disse: — O Espírito Santo diz isto: em Jerusalém o dono deste cinto será amarrado assim pelos judeus e será entregue nas mãos dos não judeus.
12 Which thing whanne we herden, we preieden, and thei that weren of that place, that he schulde not go vp to Jerusalem.
12 Quando ouvimos isso, nós e os irmãos de Cesareia pedimos com insistência a Paulo que não fosse para Jerusalém.
13 Thanne Poul answeride, and seide, What doen ye, wepinge and turmentinge myn herte? For Y am redi, not oonli to be boundun, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jhesu.
13 Mas ele respondeu: — Por que vocês choram assim e me deixam tão triste? Eu estou pronto não somente para ser amarrado, mas até para morrer em Jerusalém pela causa do Senhor Jesus.
14 And whanne we myyten not counseile hym, we weren stille, and seiden, The wille of the Lord be don.
14 E não conseguimos convencê-lo a não ir. Então desistimos e dissemos: — Que seja feita a vontade do Senhor!
15 And aftir these daies we weren maad redi, and wenten vp to Jerusalem.
15 Depois de passarmos alguns dias ali, juntamos as nossas coisas e fomos para Jerusalém.
16 And summe of the disciplis camen with vs fro Cesarie, and ledden with hem a man, Jason of Cipre, an elde disciple, at whom we schulden be herborid.
16 Alguns irmãos da cidade de Cesareia nos acompanharam e nos levaram à casa onde íamos ficar hospedados. O dono da casa era Menasom, natural da ilha de Chipre. Fazia muito tempo que ele era cristão.
17 And whanne we camen to Jerusalem, britheren resseyueden vs wilfulli.
17 Quando chegamos a Jerusalém, os irmãos nos receberam com muita alegria.
18 And in the dai suynge Poul entride with vs to James, and alle the eldre men weren gaderid.
18 No dia seguinte Paulo foi conosco até a casa de Tiago para se encontrar com ele. E todos os presbíteros da igreja estavam presentes ali.
19 Whiche whanne he hadde gret, he telde bi alle thingis, what God hadde doon in hethene men, bi the mynysterie of hym.
19 Então Paulo os cumprimentou e deu um relatório completo de tudo o que Deus tinha feito por meio dele entre os não judeus.
20 And whanne thei herden, thei magnyfiden God, and seiden to hym, Brothir, thou seest how many thousyndis ben in Jewis, that han bileued to God, and alle ben loueris of the lawe.
20 Depois de o ouvirem, todos eles deram graças a Deus e disseram a Paulo: — Veja bem, irmão! Há milhares de judeus que se tornaram cristãos e todos eles são fiéis à
21 And thei herden of thee, that thou techist departing fro Moises of thilk Jewis that ben bi hethene men, that seien, that thei owen not circumcide her sones, nether owen to entre by custom.
21 Eles ouviram dizer que você ensina os judeus que moram em outros países a abandonarem a Lei, dizendo a eles que não circuncidem os seus filhos, nem respeitem os costumes dos judeus.
22 Therfor what is? It bihoueth that the multitude come togidre; for thei schulen here, that thou art come.
22 O que vamos fazer? Com certeza eles já ouviram dizer que você chegou.
23 Therfor do thou this thing, that we seien to thee. Ther ben to vs foure men, that han a vow on hem.
23 Portanto, faça o que vamos dizer: estão aqui entre nós quatro homens que têm de cumprir uma promessa a Deus.
24 Take thou these men, and halowe thee with hem; honge on hem, that thei schaue her heedis; and that alle men wite, that the thingis that thei herden of thee ben false, but that thou walkist, and thi silf kepist the lawe.
24 Então vá, tome parte com eles na cerimônia de purificação e pague a despesa para que eles possam rapar a cabeça . Assim todos saberão que não é verdade o que se diz de você. Pelo contrário, vão ficar sabendo que, de fato, você vive de acordo com a Lei de Moisés.
25 But of these that bileueden of hethene men, we writen, demynge that thei absteyne hem fro thing offrid to idols, and fro blood, and also fro stranglid thing, and fro fornicacioun.
25 Mas, quanto aos não judeus que se tornaram cristãos, nós já mandamos uma carta a eles, dizendo o seguinte: “Não comam carne de animais que foram oferecidos em sacrifício aos ídolos, nem sangue, nem carne de nenhum animal que tenha sido estrangulado. E também não pratiquem imoralidade sexual.”
26 Thanne Poul took the men, and in the dai suynge he was purified with hem, and entride in to the temple, and schewide the filling of daies of purifying, til the offring was offrid for ech of hem.
26 Então Paulo falou com os quatro homens e, no dia seguinte, tomou parte com eles na cerimônia de purificação. Depois entrou na área do Templo para avisar quando iam terminar os dias da purificação, isto é, a ocasião em que cada um dos quatro homens deveria oferecer o seu sacrifício.
27 And whanne seuene daies weren endid, the Jewis that weren of Asie, whanne thei saien him in the temple, stiriden al the puple, and leyden hondis on hym,
27 Quando os sete dias da purificação estavam para acabar, alguns judeus da província da Ásia viram Paulo na área do Templo . Então atiçaram a multidão, agarraram Paulo
28 and crieden, Men of Israel, helpe ye vs. This is the man, that ayens the puple and the lawe and this place techith euery where alle men, more ouer and hath led hethene men in to the temple, and hath defoulid this hooli place.
28 e começaram a gritar: — Israelitas, nos ajudem! Este é o homem que vai pelo mundo inteiro falando a todas as pessoas e dizendo mentiras contra o povo de Israel, a
29 For thei seyen Trofimus of Effesi in the citee with hym, whom thei gessiden that Poul hadde brouyt in to the temple.
29 Eles disseram isso porque tinham visto Trófimo, que era de Éfeso, na cidade com Paulo. E pensavam que Paulo o havia levado para dentro da área do Templo.
30 And al the citee was moued, and a rennyng togider of the puple was maad. And thei token Poul, and drowen him out of the temple; and anoon the yatis weren closid.
30 A confusão se espalhou por toda a cidade, e o povo veio correndo de todos os lados. Eles agarraram Paulo, e o arrastaram para fora da área do Templo, e fecharam os portões.
31 And whanne thei souyten to sle hym, it was teld to the tribune of the cumpany of knyytis, that al Jerusalem is confoundid.
31 Quando a multidão já ia matar Paulo, o comandante das tropas romanas recebeu a notícia de que toda a cidade de Jerusalém estava em revolta.
32 Which anoon took knyytis, and centuriens, and ran to hem. And whanne thei hadden seen the tribune, and the knyytis, thei ceessiden to smyte Poul.
32 Então reuniu depressa alguns oficiais e soldados e correu para o meio do povo. Quando a multidão viu o comandante e os soldados, parou logo de bater em Paulo.
33 Thanne the tribune cam, and cauyte hym, and comaundide, that he were boundun with twei cheynes; and axide, who he was, and what he hadde don.
33 Aí o comandante chegou perto de Paulo, prendeu-o e mandou amarrá-lo com duas correntes. Depois perguntou: — Quem é este homem? O que foi que ele fez?
34 But othere crieden other thing among the puple. And whanne he miyte `knowe no certeyn thing for the noise, he comaundide hym to be led in to the castels.
34 Mas na multidão uns gritavam uma coisa, outros gritavam outra. A desordem era tão grande, que o comandante não pôde descobrir o que havia acontecido. Então mandou que os soldados levassem Paulo para dentro da fortaleza .
35 And whanne Poul cam to the grees, it bifel that he was borun of kniytis, for strengthe of the puple.
35 Quando chegaram perto da escada, os soldados tiveram de carregar Paulo por causa da violência da multidão
36 For the multitude of the puple suede hym, and criede, Take hym awei.
36 que vinha atrás, gritando: — Mata! Mata!
37 And whanne Poul bigan to be led in to the castels, he seide to the tribune, Whether it is leueful `to me, to speke ony thing to thee?
37 Quando iam levar Paulo para dentro da fortaleza, ele disse ao comandante: — Me dê licença para falar uma coisa com o senhor. O comandante perguntou: — Você sabe falar
38 And he seide, Kanst thou Greek? Whether thou art not the Egipcian, which bifor these daies mouedist a noise, and leddist out in to desert foure thousynde of men, mensleeris?
38 Por acaso você é aquele egípcio que algum tempo atrás começou uma revolução e levou quatro mil terroristas armados para o deserto?
39 And Poul seide to hym, For Y am a Jew, of Tharse of Cilicie, a citeseyn, which citee is not vnknowun. And Y preye thee, suffre me to speke to the puple.
39 Paulo respondeu: — Eu sou judeu, nascido em Tarso, cidade muito importante da região da Cilícia. Por favor, me deixe falar com o povo.
40 And whanne he suffride, Poul stood in the grees, and bikenede with the hoond to the puple. And whanne a greet silence was maad, he spak in Ebrew tunge, and seide,
40 Então o comandante deixou. Paulo ficou de pé na escadaria e fez um sinal com a mão para o povo, pedindo silêncio. Quando todos ficaram calados, Paulo começou a falar em hebraico . Ele disse:
