1 And summe camen doun fro Judee, and tauyten britheren, That but ye ben circumcidid after the lawe of Moises, ye moun not be maad saaf.
1 Alguns homens, descendo da Judéia, puseram-se a ensinar aos irmãos o seguinte: Se não vos circuncidais, segundo o rito de Moisés, não podeis ser salvos.
2 Therfor whanne ther was maad not a litil discencioun to Poul and Barnabas ayens hem, thei ordeyneden, that Poul and Barnabas, and summe othere of hem, schulden go vp to the apostlis and preestis in Jerusalem, on this questioun.
2 Originou-se então grande discussão de Paulo e Barnabé com eles, e resolveu-se que estes dois, com alguns outros irmãos, fossem tratar desta questão com os apóstolos e os anciãos em Jerusalém.
3 And so thei weren led forth of the chirche, and passiden bi Fenyce and Samarie; and thei telden the conuersacioun of hethene men, and thei maden greet ioie to alle the britheren.
3 Acompanhados {algum tempo} dos membros da comunidade, tomaram o caminho que atravessa a Fenícia e Samaria. Contaram a todos os irmãos a conversão dos gentios, o que causou a todos grande alegria.
4 And whanne thei camen to Jerusalem, thei weren resseyued of the chirche and of the apostlis, and of the eldre men, and telden, hou greet thingis God dide with hem.
4 Chegando a Jerusalém, foram recebidos pela comunidade, pelos apóstolos e anciãos, a quem contaram tudo o que Deus tinha feito com eles.
5 But summe of the erise of Fariseis, that bileueden, risen vp, and seiden, That it bihoueth hem to be circumsidid, and to comaunde to kepe also the lawe of Moises.
5 Mas levantaram-se alguns que antes de ter abraçado a fé eram da seita dos fariseus, dizendo que era necessário circuncidar os pagãos e impor-lhes a observância da Lei de Moisés.
6 And the apostlis and eldre men camen togidre, to se of `this word.
6 Reuniram-se os apóstolos e os anciãos para tratar desta questão.
7 And whanne there was maad a greet sekyng herof, Petre roos, and seide to hem, Britheren, ye witen, that of elde daies in you God chees bi my mouth hethene, to here the word of the gospel, and to bileue;
7 Ao fim de uma grande discussão, Pedro levantou-se e lhes disse: Irmãos, vós sabeis que já há muito tempo Deus me escolheu dentre vós, para que da minha boca os pagãos ouvissem a palavra do Evangelho e cressem.
8 and God, that knewe hertis, bar witnessing, and yaf to hem the Hooli Goost, as also to vs;
8 Ora, Deus, que conhece os corações, testemunhou a seu respeito, dando-lhes o Espírito Santo, da mesma forma que a nós.
9 and no thing diuerside bitwixe vs and hem, `and clenside the hertis of hem bi feith.
9 Nem fez distinção alguma entre nós e eles, purificando pela fé os seus corações.
10 Now thanne what tempten ye God, to putte a yok on the necke of the disciplis, which nether we, nether oure fadris miyten bere?
10 Por que, pois, provocais agora a Deus, impondo aos discípulos um jugo que nem nossos pais nem nós pudemos suportar?
11 But bi the grace of oure Lord Jhesu Crist we bileuen to be saued, as also thei.
11 Nós cremos que pela graça do Senhor Jesus seremos salvos, exatamente como eles.
12 And al the multitude helde pees, and herden Barnaban and Poul, tellinge hou grete signes and wondris God dide bi hem in hethene men.
12 Toda a assembléia o ouviu silenciosamente. Em seguida, ouviram Barnabé e Paulo contar quantos milagres e prodígios Deus fizera por meio deles entre os gentios.
13 And aftir that thei helden pees, James answeride, and seide, Britheren, here ye me.
13 Depois de terminarem, Tiago tomou a palavra: Irmãos, ouvi-me, disse ele.
14 Symount telde, hou God visitide, first to take of hethene men a puple to his name.
14 Simão narrou como Deus começou a olhar para as nações pagãs para tirar delas um povo que trouxesse o seu nome.
15 And the wordis of prophetis acorden to him,
15 Ora, com isto concordam as palavras dos profetas, como está escrito:
16 as it is writun, Aftir this Y schal turne ayen, and bilde the tabernacle of Dauid, that felle doun; and Y schal bilde ayen the cast doun thingis of it, and Y schal reise it;
16 Depois disto voltarei, e reedificarei o tabernáculo de Davi que caiu. E reedificarei as suas ruínas, e o levantarei
17 that other men seke the Lord, and alle folkis on which my name is clepid to helpe; the Lord doynge this thing, seith.
17 para que o resto dos homens busque o Senhor, e todas as nações, sobre as quais tem sido invocado o meu nome.
18 Fro the world, the werk of the Lord is knowun to the Lord.
18 Assim fala o Senhor que faz estas coisas, coisas que ele conheceu desde a eternidade {Am 9,11s.}.
19 For which thing Y deme hem that of hethene men ben conuertid to God,
19 Por isso, julgo que não se devem inquietar os que dentre os gentios se convertem a Deus.
20 to be not disesid, but to write to hem, that thei absteyne hem fro defoulingis of maumetis, and fro fornicacioun, and stranglid thingis, and blood.
20 Mas que se lhes escreva somente que se abstenham das carnes oferecidas aos ídolos, da impureza, das carnes sufocadas e do sangue.
21 For Moyses of elde tymes hath in alle citees hem that prechen him in synagogis, where bi ech sabat he is red.
21 Porque Moisés, desde muitas gerações, tem em cada cidade seus pregadores, pois que ele é lido nas sinagogas todos os sábados.
22 Thanne it pleside to the apostlis, and to the eldre men, with al the chirche, to chees men of hem, and sende to Antioche, with Poul and Barnabas, Judas, that was named Barsabas, and Silas, the firste men among britheren;
22 Então pareceu bem aos apóstolos e aos anciãos com toda a comunidade escolher homens dentre eles e enviá-los a Antioquia com Paulo e Barnabé: Judas, que tinha o sobrenome de Barsabás, e Silas, homens notáveis entre os irmãos.
23 and wroten bi the hondis of hem, Apostlis and eldre britheren to hem that ben at Antioche, and Sirie, and Silice, britheren of hethen men, greting.
23 Por seu intermédio enviaram a seguinte carta: "Os apóstolos e os anciãos aos irmãos de origem pagã, em Antioquia, na Síria e Cilícia, saúde!
24 For we herden that summe wenten out fro vs, and trobliden you with wordis, and turneden vpsodoun youre soulis, to whiche men we comaundiden not,
24 Temos ouvido que alguns dentre nós vos têm perturbado com palavras, transtornando os vossos espíritos, sem lhes termos dado semelhante incumbência.
25 it pleside to vs gaderid in to oon, to chese men, and sende to you, with oure most dereworthe Barnabas and Poul,
25 Assim nós nos reunimos e decidimos escolher delegados e enviá-los a vós, com os nossos amados Barnabé e Paulo,
26 men that yauen her lyues for the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
26 homens que têm exposto suas vidas pelo nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
27 Therfor we senten Judas and Silas, and thei schulen telle the same thingis to you bi wordis.
27 Enviamos, portanto, Judas e Silas que de viva voz vos exporão as mesmas coisas.
28 For it is seyn to the Hooly Goost and to vs, to putte to you no thing more of charge, than these nedeful thingis,
28 Com efeito, pareceu bem ao Espírito Santo e a nós não vos impor outro peso além do seguinte indispensável:
29 that ye absteyne you fro the offrid thingis of maumetis, and blood stranglid, and fornicacioun. Fro whiche ye kepinge you, schulen do wel. Fare ye wel.
29 que vos abstenhais das carnes sacrificadas aos ídolos, do sangue, da carne sufocada e da impureza. Dessas coisas fareis bem de vos guardar conscienciosamente. Adeus!
30 Therfor thei weren let go, and camen doun to Antioche; and whanne the multitude was gaderid, thei token the epistle;
30 Tendo-se despedido, a delegação dirigiu-se a Antioquia. Ali reuniram a assembléia e entregaram a carta.
31 which whanne thei hadden red, thei ioyden on the coumfort.
31 À sua leitura, todos se alegraram com o estímulo que ela trazia.
32 And Judas and Silas and thei, for thei weren prophetis, coumfortiden britheren, and confermyden with ful many wordis.
32 Judas e Silas, que eram também profetas, dirigiam aos irmãos muitas palavras de exortação e de animação.
33 But aftir that thei hadden be there a lytil while, thei weren let go of britheren with pees, to hem that hadden sent hem.
33 Demoraram-se ali por algum tempo. Foram depois pelos irmãos despedidos em paz, voltando aos que lhos tinham enviado.
34 But it was seyn to Silas, to dwelle there; and Judas wente aloone to Jerusalem.
34 {A Silas contudo, pareceu bem ficar ali, e Judas partiu sozinho.}
35 And Poul and Barnabas dwelten at Antioche, techinge and prechinge the word of the Lord, with othere manye.
35 Paulo e Barnabé detiveram-se também em Antioquia, ensinando e pregando com muitos outros a palavra do Senhor.
36 But after summe daies, Poul seide to Barnabas, Turne we ayen, and visite britheren bi alle citees, in whiche we han prechid the word of the Lord, hou thei han hem.
36 Ao termo de alguns dias, disse Paulo a Barnabé: Tornemos a visitar os irmãos por todas as cidades onde temos pregado a palavra do Senhor, para ver como estão passando.
37 And Barnabas wolde take with hym Joon, that was named Marcus.
37 Barnabé queria levar consigo também João, que tinha por sobrenome Marcos.
38 But Poul preiede him, that he that departide fro hem fro Pamfilie, and wente not with hem in to the werk, schulde not be resseyued.
38 Paulo, porém, achava que não devia ser admitido quem se tinha separado deles em Panfília e não os havia acompanhado no ministério.
39 And dissencioun was maad, so that thei departiden a twynny. And Barnabas took Mark, and cam bi boot to Cipre.
39 Houve tal discussão que se separaram um do outro, e Barnabé, levando consigo Marcos, navegou para Chipre.
40 And Poul chees Silas, and wente forth fro the britheren, and was bitakun to the grace of God.
40 Paulo, porém, tendo escolhido Silas, e depois de ter sido recomendado pelos irmãos à graça do Senhor, partiu.
41 And he wente bi Sirie and Silice, and confermyde the chirche, comaundinge to kepe the heestis of apostlis and eldre men.
41 Ele percorreu a Síria, a Cilícia, confirmando as comunidades.
