1 But, britheren, we preien you bi the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, and of oure congregacioun in to the same comyng,
1 Ora, suplicamo-vos, irmãos, com respeito à vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e nossa reunião com ele,
2 that ye be not mouyd soone fro youre witt, nether be aferd, nether bi spirit, nether bi word, nether bi epistle as sent bi vs, as if the dai of the Lord be nyy.
2 que não vos movais facilmente da vossa mente, nem vos perturbeis, quer por espírito, quer por palavra, quer por carta, como de nós, como se o dia de Cristo estivesse já perto.
3 No man disseyue you in ony manere. For but dissencioun come first, and the man of synne be schewid, the sonne of perdicioun,
3 Ninguém vos engane de maneira alguma, pois aquele dia não virá sem que primeiro venha a apostasia e que o homem do pecado seja revelado, o filho da perdição.
4 that is aduersarie, and is enhaunsid ouer `al thing that is seid God, or that is worschipid, so that he sitte in the temple of God, and schewe hym silf as if he were God.
4 O qual se opõe e se levanta contra tudo o que se chama Deus ou se adora; de modo que se assentará, como Deus, no templo de Deus, querendo parecer Deus.
5 Whether ye holden not, that yit whanne Y was at you, Y seide these thingis to you?
5 Não vos lembrais, quando ainda estava convosco, de que vos dizia estas coisas?
6 And now what withholdith, ye witen, that he be schewid in his tyme.
6 E, agora, vós sabeis o que o detém, para que ele seja revelado em seu tempo.
7 For the priuete of wickidnesse worchith now; oneli that he that holdith now, holde, til he be do awei.
7 Porque o mistério da iniquidade já opera; somente há um que, agora, resiste até que do caminho seja tirado.
8 And thanne thilke wickid man schal be schewid, whom the Lord Jhesu schal sle with the spirit of his mouth, and schal distrie with liytnyng of his comyng;
8 E, então, será revelado o iníquo, a quem o Senhor consumirá com o espírito da sua boca e destruirá pelo esplendor da sua vinda.
9 hym, whos comyng is bi the worching of Sathanas, in al vertu, and signes,
9 A esse cuja vinda é segundo a eficácia de Satanás, com todo o poder, e sinais, e prodígios de mentira.
10 and grete wondris, false, and in al disseit of wickidnesse, to hem that perischen. For that thei resseyueden not the charite of treuthe, that thei schulden be maad saaf. And therfor God schal sende to hem a worching of errour, that thei bileue to leesing,
10 E com todo engano da injustiça naqueles que perecem, porque não receberam o amor da verdade, para que pudessem ser salvos.
11 that alle be demed, whiche bileueden not to treuthe, but consentiden to wickidnesse.
11 E, por isso, Deus lhes enviará forte ilusão, para que creiam em uma mentira.
12 But, britheren louyd of God, we owen to do thankyngis euermore to God for you, that God chees vs the firste fruytis in to heelthe, in halewing of spirit and in feith of treuthe;
12 Para que sejam condenados todos os que não creram na verdade; antes, tiveram prazer na injustiça.
13 in which also he clepide you bi oure gospel, in to geting of the glorie of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
13 Mas devemos sempre dar graças a Deus por vós, irmãos amados do Senhor, porque Deus desde o princípio vos escolheu para a salvação, através da santificação do Espírito e convicção da verdade.
14 Therfor, britheren, stonde ye, and holde ye the tradiciouns, that ye han lerud, ethir bi word, ethir bi oure pistle.
14 Para o que vos chamou pelo nosso evangelho, para alcançardes a glória de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
15 And oure Lord Jhesu Crist him silf, and God oure fadir, which louyde vs, and yaf euerlastinge coumfort and good hope in grace, stire youre hertis,
15 Portanto, irmãos, estai firmes e retende as tradições que vos foram ensinadas, seja por palavra, seja por nossa carta.
16 and conferme in al good werk and word.
16 E o nosso próprio Senhor Jesus Cristo, e Deus e nosso Pai, que nos amou e nos deu uma eterna consolação e boa esperança pela graça,
17 — ausente —
17 console os vossos corações e estabelece-te em toda boa palavra e obra.
