1 And thei telden to the kyng that, that sche seide; `which kyng sente, and alle the elde men of Juda, and of Jerusalem, weren gaderid to hym.
1 Então o rei convocou todas as autoridades de Judá e de Jerusalém.
2 And the kyng stiede in to the temple of the Lord, and alle the men of Juda, and alle men that dwelliden in Jerusalem with hym, the preestis, and the prophetis, and al the puple, fro litil `til to greet; and he redde, while alle men herden, alle the wordis of the book of boond of pees of the Lord, which book was foundun in the hows of the Lord.
2 Depois o rei subiu ao templo do Senhor acompanhado por todos os homens de Judá, todo o povo de Jerusalém, os sacerdotes e os profetas; todo o povo, dos mais simples aos mais importantes. Para todos o rei leu em voz alta todas as palavras do Livro da Aliança, que havia sido encontrado no templo do Senhor.
3 And the kyng stood on the grees; and he smoot boond of pees bifor the Lord, that thei schulden go aftir the Lord, and kepe hise comaundementis and witnessyngis and cerymonyes in al the herte and in al the soule, that thei schulden reise the wordis of this boond of pees, that weren writun in that book; and the puple assentide to the couenaunt.
3 O rei colocou-se junto à coluna real e, na presença do Senhor, fez uma aliança, comprometendo-se a seguir o Senhor e obedecer de todo o coração e de toda a alma aos seus mandamentos, seus preceitos e seus decretos, confirmando assim as palavras da aliança escritas naquele livro. Então todo o povo se comprometeu com a aliança.
4 And the kyng comaundide to Helchie, the bischop, and to the preestis of the secounde ordre, and to the porteris, that thei schulden caste out of the temple alle the vesselis, that weren maad to Baal, and in the wode, and to al the knyythod of heuene; and he brente tho vessels with out Jerusalem, in the euene valey of Cedron, and he bar the poudir of tho `vessels in to Bethel.
4 O rei deu ordens ao sumo sacerdote Hilquias, aos sacerdotes auxiliares e aos guardas das portas que retirassem do templo do Senhor todos os utensílios feitos para Baal e Aserá e para todos os exércitos celestes. Ele os queimou fora de Jerusalém, nos campos do vale de Cedrom e levou as cinzas para Betel.
5 And he dide awei false dyuynours `that dyuynyden in the entrailis of beestis sacrified to idols, whiche the kingis of Juda hadden sett to make sacrifice in hiy thingis bi the citees of Juda, and in the cumpas of Jerusalem; and he dide awey hem that brenten encense to Baal, and to the sunne, and to the moone, and to twelue signes, and to al the knyythod of heuene.
5 E eliminou os sacerdotes pagãos nomeados pelos reis de Judá para queimar incenso nos altares idólatras das cidades de Judá e dos arredores de Jerusalém, aqueles que queimavam incenso a Baal, ao sol e à lua, às constelações e a todos os exércitos celestes.
6 And he made the wode to be borun out of the hows of the Lord without Jerusalem in the euene valey of Cedron, and he brente it there; and he droof it in to poudir, and castide it forth on the sepulcris of the comyn puple.
6 Também mandou levar o poste sagrado do templo do Senhor para o vale de Cedrom, fora de Jerusalém, para ser queimado e reduzido a cinzas, que foram espalhadas sobre os túmulos de um cemitério público.
7 Also he distriede the litle housis of `men turnyd into wommens condiciouns, whiche housis weren in the hows of the Lord; for whiche the wymmen `maden as litil howsis of the wode.
7 Também derrubou as acomodações dos prostitutos cultuais, que ficavam no templo do Senhor, onde as mulheres teciam para Aserá.
8 And he gaderide alle the preestis fro the citees of Juda, and he defoulide the hiye thingis, where the preestis maden sacrifice, fro Gabaa `til to Bersabee; and he distriede the auters of yatis in the entryng of the dore of Josie, prince of a citee, which dore was at the lift half of the yate of the cytee.
8 Josias trouxe todos os sacerdotes das cidades de Judá e, desde Geba até Berseba, profanou os altares onde os sacerdotes haviam queimado incenso. Derrubou os altares idólatras junto às portas, inclusive o altar da entrada da porta de Josué, o governador da cidade, que fica à esquerda da porta da cidade.
9 Netheles the preestis of hiye thingis stieden not to the auter of the Lord in Jerusalem, but oneli thei eten therf looues in the myddis of her britheren.
9 Embora os sacerdotes dos altares não servissem no altar do Senhor em Jerusalém, comiam pães sem fermento junto com os sacerdotes, seus colegas.
10 Also he defoulide Tophet, which is in the euene valey of the sone of Ennon, that no man schulde halewe his sone ether his douytir bi fier to Moloch.
10 Também profanou Tofete, que ficava no vale de Ben-Hinom, de modo que ninguém mais pudesse usá-lo para queimar seu filho ou filha em sacrifício a Moloque.
11 Also he dide awei horsis, whiche the kyngis of Juda hadden youe to the sunne, in the entryng of the temple of the Lord, bisidis the chaumbir of Nathanmalech, geldyng, that was in Pharurym; forsothe he brente bi fier the charis of the sunne.
11 Acabou com os cavalos que os reis de Judá tinham consagrado ao sol. Estavam na entrada do templo do Senhor perto da sala de um oficial chamado Natã-Meleque. Também queimou as carruagens consagradas ao sol.
12 Also the kyng distriede the auteris, that weren on the roouys of the soler of Achaz, whiche auteris the kyngis of Juda hadden maad; and the kyng distriede the auteris, whiche Manasses hadde maad in the twei grete placis of the temple of the Lord; and he ran fro thennus, and scateride the askis of tho in to the strond of Cedron.
12 Derrubou os altares que os seus antecessores haviam erguido no terraço, em cima do quarto superior de Acaz, e os altares que Manassés havia construído nos dois pátios do templo do Senhor. Retirou-os dali, despedaçou-os e atirou o entulho no vale de Cedrom.
13 Also the kyng defoulide the hiye thingis, that weren in Jerusalem at the riyt part of the hil of offencioun, whiche Salomon, kyng of Israel, hadde bildid to Astroth, the ydol of Sidoneis, and to Chamos, the offencioun of Moab, and to Melchon, abhominacioun of the sones of Amon;
13 O rei também profanou os altares que ficavam a leste de Jerusalém no sul do monte da Destruição, os quais Salomão, rei de Israel, havia construído para o poste sagrado, a detestável deusa dos sidônios, para Camos, o detestável deus de Moabe, e para Moloque, o detestável deus do povo de Amom.
14 and he al to-brak ymagis, and kittide doun wodis, and fillide the places of tho with the boonys of deed men.
14 Josias despedaçou as colunas sagradas, derrubou os postes sagrados e cobriu os locais com ossos humanos.
15 Ferthermore also he distriede the auter that was in Bethel, and `he distriede the hiye thing, which Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, hadde maad, that made Israel to do synne; and he distriede that hiy autir, and brente it, and al to brak it in to poudir, and kittide doun also the wode.
15 Até o altar de Betel, o altar idólatra edificado por Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, que levou Israel a pecar; até aquele altar e o seu santuário, ele os demoliu. Queimou o santuário e o reduziu a pó, queimando também o poste sagrado.
16 And Josias turnyde, and siy there sepulcris that weren in the hil; and he sente, and took the boonys fro the sepulcris, and brente tho on the auter, and defoulide it bi the word of the Lord, which word the man of God spak, that biforseide these wordis.
16 Quando Josias olhou em volta e, viu os túmulos que havia na encosta da colina, mandou retirar os ossos dos túmulos e queimá-los no altar a fim de contaminá-lo, conforme a palavra do Senhor proclamada pelo homem de Deus que predisse essas coisas.
17 And the kyng seide, What is this biriel, which Y se? And the citeseyns of that citee answeriden to hym, It is the sepulcre of the man of God, that cam fro Juda, and biforseide these wordis, whiche thou hast doon on the auter of Bethel.
17 O rei perguntou: "Que monumento é este que estou vendo? " Os homens da cidade disseram: "É o túmulo do homem de Deus que veio de Judá e proclamou estas coisas que tu fizeste ao altar de Betel".
18 And the kyng seide, Suffre ye hym; no man moue hise boonys. And hise boonys dwelliden vntouchid with the boones of the prophete, that cam fro Samarie.
18 Então ele disse: "Deixem-no em paz. Ninguém toque nos seus ossos". Assim pouparam seus ossos bem como os do profeta que tinha vindo de Samaria.
19 Ferthermore also Josias dide awei alle the templis of hiye thingis, that weren in the citees of Samarie, whiche the kyngis of Israel hadden maad to terre the Lord to ire; and he dide to tho templis bi alle thingis whiche he hadde do in Bethel.
19 Como havia feito em Betel, Josias tirou e profanou todos os santuários idólatras que os reis de Israel haviam construído nas cidades de Samaria e que provocaram o Senhor à ira.
20 And he killide alle the preestis of hiye thingis, that weren there on the auteris, and he brente mennus boonus on tho auteris; and he turnede ayen to Jerusalem;
20 Josias também mandou sacrificar todos os sacerdotes daqueles altares idólatras e queimou ossos humanos sobre os altares. Depois voltou a Jerusalém.
21 and comaundide to al the puple, and seide, Make ye pask to `youre Lord God, vp that, that is writun in the book of this boond of pees.
21 Então o rei deu a seguinte ordem a todo o povo: "Celebrem a Páscoa ao Senhor seu Deus, conforme está escrito neste livro da Aliança".
22 Forsothe sich pask was not maad, fro the daies of iugis that demyden Israel, and of alle daies of the kyngis of Israel and of Juda,
22 Nem nos dias dos juízes que lideraram Israel, nem durante todos os dias dos reis de Israel e dos reis de Judá, foi celebrada uma Páscoa como esta.
23 as this pask was maad to the Lord in Jerusalem in the eiytenthe yeer of kyng Josias.
23 Mas no décimo oitavo ano do reinado de Josias, esta Páscoa foi celebrada ao Senhor em Jerusalém.
24 But also Josias dide awei men hauynge fendis spekinge in her wombis, and false diuinouris in auteris, and `he dide awei the figuris of idols, and alle vnclennessis, and abhomynaciouns, that weren in the lond of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he schulde do the wordis of the lawe, that weren writun in the book, `which book Elchie, the preest, foond in the temple of the Lord.
24 Além disso, Josias eliminou os médiuns, os espíritas, os ídolos da família, os ídolos e todas as outras coisas repugnantes que havia em Judá e em Jerusalém. Ele fez isto para cumprir as exigências da lei escritas no livro que o sacerdote Hilquias havia descoberto no templo do Senhor.
25 No kyng bifor him was lijk hym, `that turnede ayen to the Lord in al his herte, and in al his soule, and in al his vertu, bi al the lawe of Moises; nether aftir hym roos ony lijk hym.
25 Nem antes nem depois de Josias houve um rei como ele, que se voltasse para o Senhor de todo o coração, de toda a alma e de todas as suas forças, de acordo com toda a Lei de Moisés.
26 Netheles the Lord was not turned awei fro the ire of his greet veniaunce, bi which his strong veniaunce was wrooth ayens Juda, for the terryngis to ire by whiche Manasses hadde terrid hym to ire.
26 Entretanto, o Senhor não voltou atrás do fogo de sua grande ira, que se acendeu contra Judá por causa de tudo o que Manassés fizera para provocá-lo à ira.
27 Therfor the Lord seide, Y schal do awei also Juda fro my face, as Y dide awei Israel; and Y schal caste awei this citee, which Y chees, Jerusalem, and the hows `of which Y seide, My name schal be there.
27 Por isso o Senhor disse: "Também retirarei Judá da minha presença, tal como retirei de Israel, e rejeitarei Jerusalém, a cidade que escolhi, e este templo, do qual eu disse: ‘Ali porei o meu nome’ ".
28 Forsothe the residue of wordis of Josias, and alle thingis whiche he dide, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda?
28 Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Josias e todas as suas realizações, estão escritos no livro dos registros históricos dos reis de Judá.
29 In the daies of hym Farao Nechao, kyng of Egipt, stiede ayens the kyng of Assiriens, to the flood Eufrates; and Josias, kyng of Juda, yede in to metyng of hym, and Josias was slayn in Magedo, whanne he hadde seyn hym.
29 Durante o seu reinado, o faraó Neco, rei do Egito, avançou até o rio Eufrates ao encontro do rei da Assíria. O rei Josias marchou para combatê-lo, mas o faraó Neco o enfrentou e o matou em Megido.
30 And `hise seruauntis baren hym deed fro Magedo, and brouyte him in to Jerusalem, and birieden hym in his sepulcre; and the puple of the lond took Joachaz, sone of Josias, and anoyntiden hym, and maden hym kyng for his fadir.
30 Os oficiais de Josias levaram o seu corpo de Megido para Jerusalém, e o sepultaram em seu próprio túmulo. O povo tomou Jeoacaz, filho de Josias, ungiu-o e o proclamou como rei no lugar de seu pai.
31 Joachaz was of thre and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede thre monethis in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Amychal, douyter of Jeremye of Lobna.
31 Jeoacaz tinha vinte e três anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou três meses em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Hamutal, filha de Jeremias; ela era de Libna.
32 And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
32 Ele fez o que o Senhor reprova, tal como seus antepassados.
33 And Farao Nechao boond hym in Reblatha, which is in the lond of Emath, that he schulde not regne in Jerusalem; and he settide `peyne, ether raunsum, to the lond, in an hundrid talentis of siluer, and in a talent of gold.
33 O faraó Neco o prendeu em Ribla, na terra de Hamate, de modo que não mais reinou em Jerusalém. O faraó também impôs a Judá um tributo de três toneladas e meia de prata e trinta e cinco quilos de ouro.
34 And Farao Nechao made kyng Eliachim, sone of Josias, for Josias, his fadir; and he turnede the name of hym Joachym; forsothe Farao took Joachaz, and ledde hym in to Egipt.
34 Colocou Eliaquim, filho de Josias, como rei no lugar do seu pai Josias, e mudou o nome de Eliaquim para Jeoaquim. Mas levou Jeoacaz consigo para o Egito, onde ele morreu.
35 Sotheli Joachym yaf siluer and gold to Farao, whanne he hadde comaundid to the lond bi alle yeeris, that it schulde be brouyt, bi the comaundement of Farao; and he reiside of ech man bi hise myytis bothe siluer and gold, of the puple of the lond, that he schulde yyue to Pharao Nechao.
35 Jeoaquim pagou ao faraó Neco a prata e o ouro. Mas, para cumprir as exigências do faraó, Jeoaquim impôs tributos ao povo, cobrando a prata e o ouro, de cada um conforme suas posses.
36 Joachym was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede eleuene yeer in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Zebida, douyter of Phadaia of Ruma.
36 Jeoaquim tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Zebida, filha de Pedaías; ela era de Ruma.
37 And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
37 Ele fez o que o Senhor reprova, tal como seus antepassados.
