1 But, britheren, we maken knowun to you the grace of God, that is youun in the chirchis of Macedonye,
1 Agora, irmãos, queremos que vocês tomem conhecimento da graça que Deus concedeu às igrejas da Macedônia.
2 that in myche asaiyng of tribulacioun, the plente of the ioye of hem was, and the hiyeste pouert of hem was plenteuouse `in to the richessis of the symplenesse of hem.
2 No meio da mais severa tribulação, a grande alegria e a extrema pobreza deles transbordaram em rica generosidade.
3 For Y bere witnessyng to hem, aftir miyt and aboue miyt thei weren wilful,
3 Pois dou testemunho de que eles deram tudo quanto podiam, e até além do que podiam. Por iniciativa própria
4 with myche monestyng bisechynge vs the grace and the comynyng of mynystring, that is maad to hooli men.
4 eles nos suplicaram insistentemente o privilégio de participar da assistência aos santos.
5 And not as we hopiden, but thei yauen hem silf first to the Lord, aftirward to vs bi the wille of God.
5 E não somente fizeram o que esperávamos, mas entregaram-se primeiramente a si mesmos ao Senhor e, depois, a nós, pela vontade de Deus.
6 So that we preyeden Tite, that as he bigan, so also he performe in you this grace.
6 Assim, recomendamos a Tito, visto que ele já havia começado, que completasse esse ato de graça da parte de vocês.
7 But as ye abounden in alle thingis, in feith, and word, and kunnyng, and al bisynesse, more ouer and in youre charite in to vs, that and in this grace ye abounden.
7 Todavia, assim como vocês se destacam em tudo: na fé, na palavra, no conhecimento, na dedicação completa e no amor que vocês têm por nós, destaquem-se também neste privilégio de contribuir.
8 Y seie not as comaundinge, but bi the bisynesse of othere men appreuynge also the good wit of youre charite.
8 Não lhes estou dando uma ordem, mas quero verificar a sinceridade do amor de vocês, comparando-o com a dedicação dos outros.
9 And ye witen the grace of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, for he was maad nedi for you, whanne he was riche, that ye schulden be maad riche bi his nedynesse.
9 Pois vocês conhecem a graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo que, sendo rico, se fez pobre por amor de vocês, para que por meio de sua pobreza vocês se tornassem ricos.
10 And Y yyue counsel in this thing; for this is profitable to you, that not oneli han bigunne to do, but also ye bigunnen to haue wille fro the formere yere.
10 Este é meu conselho: convém que vocês contribuam, já que desde o ano passado vocês foram os primeiros, não somente a contribuir, mas também a propor esse plano.
11 But now parfourme ye in deed, that as the discrecioun of wille is redi, so be it also of parformyng of that that ye han.
11 Agora, completem a obra, para que a forte disposição de realizá-la seja igualada pelo zelo em concluí-la, de acordo com os bens que vocês possuem.
12 For if the wille be redi, it is acceptid aftir that that it hath, not aftir that that it hath not.
12 Porque, se há prontidão, a contribuição é aceitável de acordo com aquilo que alguém tem, e não de acordo com o que não tem.
13 And not that it be remyssioun to othere men, and to you tribulacioun;
13 Nosso desejo não é que outros sejam aliviados enquanto vocês são sobrecarregados, mas que haja igualdade.
14 but of euenesse in the present tyme youre aboundance fulfille the myseese of hem, that also the aboundaunce of hem be a fulfillynge of youre myseise, that euenesse be maad; as it is writun,
14 No presente momento, a fartura de vocês suprirá a necessidade deles, para que, por sua vez, a fartura deles supra a necessidade de vocês. Então haverá igualdade,
15 He that gaderide myche, was not encresid, and he that gaderide litil, hadde not lesse.
15 como está escrito: "Quem tinha recolhido muito não teve demais, e não faltou a quem tinha recolhido pouco".
16 And Y do thankyngis to God, that yaf the same bisynesse for you in the herte of Tite,
16 Agradeço a Deus, que pôs no coração de Tito o mesmo cuidado que tenho por vocês,
17 for he resseyuede exortacioun; but whanne he was bisier, bi his wille he wente forth to you.
17 pois Tito não apenas aceitou o nosso pedido, mas está indo até vocês, com muito entusiasmo e por iniciativa própria.
18 And we senten with hym a brother, whose preisyng is in the gospel bi alle chirchis.
18 Com ele estamos enviando o irmão que é recomendado por todas as igrejas por seu serviço no evangelho.
19 And not oneli, but also he is ordeyned of chirchis the felowe of oure pilgrimage in to this grace, that is mynystrid of vs to the glorie of the Lord, and to oure ordeyned wille;
19 Não só por isso, mas ele também foi escolhido pelas igrejas para nos acompanhar quando formos ministrar esta doação, o que fazemos para honrar o próprio Senhor e mostrar a nossa disposição.
20 eschewynge this thing, that no man blame vs in this plente, that is mynystrid of vs to the glorye of the Lord.
20 Queremos evitar que alguém nos critique quanto ao nosso modo de ministrar essa generosa oferta,
21 For we purueyen good thingis, not onely bifor God, but also bifor alle men.
21 pois estamos tendo o cuidado de fazer o que é correto, não apenas aos olhos do Senhor, mas também aos olhos dos homens.
22 For we senten with hem also oure brothir, whom we han preued in many thingis ofte, that he was bisi, but nowe myche bisier, for myche trist in you,
22 Além disso, estamos enviando com eles o nosso irmão que muitas vezes e de muitas maneiras já nos provou que é muito dedicado, e agora ainda mais, por causa da grande confiança que ele tem em vocês.
23 ethir for Tite, that is my felowe and helpere in you, ethir for oure britheren, apostlis of the chirches of the glorie of Crist.
23 Quanto a Tito, ele é meu companheiro e cooperador entre vocês; quanto a nossos irmãos, eles são representantes das igrejas e uma honra para Cristo.
24 Therfor schewe ye in to hem in the face of chirchis, that schewynge that is of youre charite and of oure glorie for you.
24 Portanto, diante das demais igrejas, demonstrem a esses irmãos a prova do amor que vocês têm e a razão do orgulho que temos de vocês.
