1 And Iram, the kyng of Tyre, sente messageris to Dauid, and `he sente trees of cedre, and werk men of wallis and of trees, that thei schulden bilde to hym an hows.
1 O rei Hirão, da cidade de Tiro, enviou embaixadores a Davi. Ele mandou toras de cedro e também carpinteiros e pedreiros para construírem um palácio para Davi.
2 And Dauid knewe that the Lord hadde confermyd hym in to kyng on Israel; and that his rewme was reisid on his puple Israel.
2 E assim Davi entendeu que o Senhor o havia confirmado como rei de Israel e que, por amor ao seu povo, estava fazendo o seu reino progredir.
3 And Dauid took othere wyues in Jerusalem, and gendride sones and douytris.
3 Em Jerusalém, Davi casou com outras mulheres e foi pai de mais filhos e filhas.
4 And these ben the names of hem that weren borun to hym in Jerusalem; Sammu, and Sobab, Nathan, and Salomon,
4 São estes os nomes dos seus filhos que nasceram em Jerusalém: Samua, Sobabe, Natã, Salomão,
5 Jeber, and Elisu, and Heli, and Eliphalech,

6 and Noga, and Napheg, and Japhie,

8 Forsothe the Filisteis herden that Dauid was anoyntid `in to kyng on al Israel, and alle stieden to seke Dauid. And whanne Dauid hadde herd this thing, he yede out ayens hem.
8 Quando os filisteus souberam que Davi tinha sido ungido como rei do país inteiro de Israel, o seu exército saiu para prendê-lo. Davi soube disso e saiu para encontrar-se com eles.
9 Forsothe Filisteis camen, and weren spred abrood in the valey of Raphaym;
9 Os filisteus chegaram ao vale dos Gigantes e começaram a atacar e a roubar.
10 and Dauid counselide the Lord, and seide, Whether Y schal stie to Filisteis? and whether thou schalt bitake hem in to myn hondis? And the Lord seide to hym, Stie thou, and Y schal bitake hem in thin hond.
10 Então Davi perguntou a Deus: — Devo lutar contra os filisteus? Tu me darás a vitória? — Vá! — disse o
11 And whanne thei hadden styed in to Baal Pharasym, Dauid smoot hem there, and seide, God hath departid myn enemyes bi myn hond, as watris ben departid. And therfor the name of that place was clepid Baal Pharasym; and thei leften there her goddis,
11 Davi os atacou em Baal-Perazim e os derrotou. Ele disse: — Como se eu fosse uma enchente que derruba tudo, Deus me usou para abrir uma brecha no meio do exército inimigo. Por isso, aquele lugar é chamado de Baal-Perazim .
12 which Dauid comaundide to be brent.
12 Quando os filisteus fugiram, deixaram os seus ídolos para trás, e Davi ordenou que fossem queimados.
13 Forsothe another tyme Filisteis felden in, and weren spred abrood in the valei;
13 Mas logo os filisteus voltaram ao vale e começaram a atacar.
14 and eft Dauid counseilide the Lord, and the Lord seide to hym, Thou schalt not stie aftir hem; go awei fro hem, and thou schalt come ayens hem euen ayens the pere trees.
14 Mais uma vez Davi consultou a Deus, e ele respondeu: — Não os ataque daqui. Dê a volta e ataque pelo outro lado, perto das amoreiras.
15 And whanne thou schalt here the sowun of a goere in the cop of the pere trees, thanne thou schalt go out to batel; for the Lord is go out byfor thee, to smyte the castels of Filisteis.
15 Quando você ouvir o barulho de marcha por cima das amoreiras, ataque-os porque isso quer dizer que eu estou indo na sua frente para derrotar o exército dos filisteus.
16 Therfor Dauid dide as God comaundide to hym, and he smoot the castels of Filisteis fro Gabaon `til to Gazara.
16 Davi fez o que Deus havia mandado e obrigou os inimigos a recuar desde Gibeão até Gezer.
17 And the name of Dauid was puplischid in alle cuntreis, and the Lord yaf his drede on alle folkis.
17 A fama de Davi se espalhou por toda parte, e o Senhor fez com que todas as nações ficassem com medo dele.
