1 Whether Y am not fre? Am Y not apostle? Whether Y saiy not `Crist Jhesu, `oure Lord? Whether ye ben not my werk in the Lord?
1 Não sou eu, porventura, livre? Não sou apóstolo? Não vi Jesus, nosso Senhor? Acaso, não sois fruto do meu trabalho no Senhor?
2 And thouy to othere Y am not apostle, but netheles to you Y am; for ye ben the litle signe of myn apostlehed in the Lord.
2 Se não sou apóstolo para outrem, certamente, o sou para vós outros; porque vós sois o selo do meu apostolado no Senhor.
3 My defense to hem that axen me, that is.
3 A minha defesa perante os que me interpelam é esta:
4 Whether we han not power to ete and drynke?
4 não temos nós o direito de comer e beber?
5 Whether we han not power to lede aboute a womman a sistir, as also othere apostlis, and britheren of the Lord, and Cefas?
5 E também o de fazer-nos acompanhar de uma mulher irmã, como fazem os demais apóstolos, e os irmãos do Senhor, e Cefas?
6 Or Y aloone and Barnabas han not power to worche these thingis?
6 Ou somente eu e Barnabé não temos direito de deixar de trabalhar?
7 Who traueilith ony tyme with hise owne wagis? Who plauntith a vynyerd, and etith not of his fruyt? Who kepith a flok, and etith not of the mylk of the flok?
7 Quem jamais vai à guerra à sua própria custa? Quem planta a vinha e não come do seu fruto? Ou quem apascenta um rebanho e não se alimenta do leite do rebanho?
8 Whether aftir man Y sey these thingis? whether also the lawe seith not these thingis?
8 Porventura, falo isto como homem ou não o diz também a lei?
9 For it is writun in the lawe of Moises, Thou schalt not bynde the mouth of the ox threischynge. Whethir of oxun is charge to God?
9 Porque na lei de Moisés está escrito: Não atarás a boca ao boi, quando pisa o trigo. Acaso, é com bois que Deus se preocupa?
10 Whether for vs he seith these thingis? For whi tho ben writun for vs; for he that erith, owith to ere in hope, and he that threischith, in hope to take fruytis.
10 Ou é, seguramente, por nós que ele o diz? Certo que é por nós que está escrito; pois o que lavra cumpre fazê-lo com esperança; o que pisa o trigo faça-o na esperança de receber a parte que lhe é devida.
11 If we sowen spiritual thingis to you, is it grete, if we repen youre fleischli thingis?
11 Se nós vos semeamos as coisas espirituais, será muito recolhermos de vós bens materiais?
12 If othere ben parteneris of youre power, whi not rathere we? But we vsen not this power, but we suffren alle thingis, that we yyuen no lettyng to the euangelie of Crist.
12 Se outros participam desse direito sobre vós, não o temos nós em maior medida? Entretanto, não usamos desse direito; antes, suportamos tudo, para não criarmos qualquer obstáculo ao evangelho de Cristo.
13 Witen ye not, that thei that worchen in the temple, eten tho thingis that ben of the temple, and thei that seruen to the auter, ben partyneris of the auter?
13 Não sabeis vós que os que prestam serviços sagrados do próprio templo se alimentam? E quem serve ao altar do altar tira o seu sustento?
14 So the Lord ordeynede to hem that tellen the gospel, to lyue of the gospel.
14 Assim ordenou também o Senhor aos que pregam o evangelho que vivam do evangelho;
15 But Y vside noon of these thingis; sotheli Y wroot not these thingis, that tho be don so in me; for it is good `to me rather to die, than that ony man `auoyde my glorie.
15 eu, porém, não me tenho servido de nenhuma destas coisas e não escrevo isto para que assim se faça comigo; porque melhor me fora morrer, antes que alguém me anule esta glória.
16 For if Y preche the gospel, glorie is not to me, for nedelich Y mot don it; for wo to me, if Y preche not the gospel.
16 Se anuncio o evangelho, não tenho de que me gloriar, pois sobre mim pesa essa obrigação; porque ai de mim se não pregar o evangelho!
17 But if Y do this thing wilfuli, Y haue mede; but if ayens my wille, dispending is bitakun to me.
17 Se o faço de livre vontade, tenho galardão; mas, se constrangido, é, então, a responsabilidade de despenseiro que me está confiada.
18 What thanne is my mede? That Y prechynge the gospel, putte the gospel with outen otheris cost, that Y vse not my power in the gospel.
18 Nesse caso, qual é o meu galardão? É que, evangelizando, proponha, de graça, o evangelho, para não me valer do direito que ele me dá.
19 Forwhi whanne Y was fre of alle men, Y made me seruaunt of alle men, to wynne the mo men.
19 Porque, sendo livre de todos, fiz-me escravo de todos, a fim de ganhar o maior número possível.
20 And to Jewis Y am maad as a Jew, to wynne the Jewis; to hem that ben vndur the lawe,
20 Procedi, para com os judeus, como judeu, a fim de ganhar os judeus; para os que vivem sob o regime da lei, como se eu mesmo assim vivesse, para ganhar os que vivem debaixo da lei, embora não esteja eu debaixo da lei.
21 as Y were vndur the lawe, whanne Y was not vndur the lawe, to wynne hem that weren vndur the lawe; to hem that weren with out lawe, as Y were with out lawe, whanne Y was not with out the lawe of God, but Y was in the lawe of Crist, to wynne hem that weren with out lawe.
21 Aos sem lei, como se eu mesmo o fosse, não estando sem lei para com Deus, mas debaixo da lei de Cristo, para ganhar os que vivem fora do regime da lei.
22 Y am maad sijk to sike men, to wynne sike men; to alle men Y am maad alle thingis, to make alle men saaf.
22 Fiz-me fraco para com os fracos, com o fim de ganhar os fracos. Fiz-me tudo para com todos, com o fim de, por todos os modos, salvar alguns.
23 But Y do alle thingis for the gospel, that Y be maad partener of it.
23 Tudo faço por causa do evangelho, com o fim de me tornar cooperador com ele.
24 Witen ye not, that thei that rennen in a furlong, alle rennen, but oon takith the prijs? So renne ye, that ye catche.
24 Não sabeis vós que os que correm no estádio, todos, na verdade, correm, mas um só leva o prêmio? Correi de tal maneira que o alcanceis.
25 Ech man that stryueth in fiyt, absteyneth hym fro alle thingis; and thei, that thei take a corruptible coroun, but we an vncorrupt.
25 Todo atleta em tudo se domina; aqueles, para alcançar uma coroa corruptível; nós, porém, a incorruptível.
26 Therfor Y renne so, not as `in to vncerteyn thing; thus Y fiyte, not as betynge the eir;
26 Assim corro também eu, não sem meta; assim luto, não como desferindo golpes no ar.
27 but Y chastise my bodi, and bryng it in to seruage; lest perauenture whanne Y preche to othere, Y my silf be maad repreuable.
27 Mas esmurro o meu corpo e o reduzo à escravidão, para que, tendo pregado a outros, não venha eu mesmo a ser desqualificado.
