1 For this reason I Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles–
1 Quando penso em tudo isso, eu, Paulo, prisioneiro de Cristo Jesus para o bem de vocês, gentios…
2 if, that is, you have heard of the work which God has graciously entrusted to me for your benefit,
2 Tomando por certo, a propósito, que vocês sabem que Deus me deu essa responsabilidade especial de estender sua graça a vocês.
3 and that by a revelation the truth hitherto kept secret was made known to me as I have already briefly explained it to you.
3 Como lhes escrevi anteriormente em poucas palavras, o próprio Deus revelou esse segredo a mim.
4 By means of that explanation, as you read it, you can judge of my insight into the truth of Christ
4 Ao lerem o que escrevi, entenderão minha compreensão desse segredo a respeito de Cristo,
5 which in earlier ages was not made known to the human race, as it has now been revealed to His holy Apostles and Prophets through the Spirit–
5 que não foi revelado às gerações anteriores, mas agora foi revelado, pelo Espírito, aos santos apóstolos e profetas.
6 I mean the truth that the Gentiles are joint heirs with us Jews, and that they form one body with us, and have the same interest as we have in the promise which has been made good in Christ Jesus through the Good News,
6 E este é o segredo revelado: tanto os gentios como os judeus que creem nas boas-novas participam igualmente das riquezas herdadas pelos filhos de Deus. Ambos são membros do mesmo corpo e desfrutam a promessa em Cristo Jesus.
7 in which I have been appointed to serve, in virtue of the work which God, in the exercise of His power within me, has graciously entrusted to me.
7 Pela graça e pelo grande poder de Deus, recebi o privilégio de servir anunciando essas boas-novas.
8 To me who am less than the least of all God's people has this work been graciously entrusted–to proclaim to the Gentiles the Good News of the exhaustless wealth of Christ,
8 Ainda que eu seja o menos digno de todo o povo santo, recebi, pela graça, o privilégio de falar aos gentios sobre os tesouros infindáveis que estão disponíveis a eles em Cristo
9 and to show all men in a clear light what my stewardship is. It is the stewardship of the truth which from all the Ages lay concealed in the mind of God, the Creator of all things–
9 e de explicar a todos esse segredo que Deus, o Criador de todas as coisas, manteve oculto desde o princípio.
10 concealed in order that the Church might now be used to display to the powers and authorities in the heavenly realms the innumerable aspects of God's wisdom.
10 O plano de Deus era mostrar a todos os governantes e autoridades nos domínios celestiais, por meio da igreja, as muitas formas da sabedoria divina.
11 Such was the eternal purpose which He had formed in Christ Jesus our Lord,
11 Esse era seu propósito eterno, que ele realizou por meio de Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor.
12 in whom we have this bold and confident access through our faith in Him.
12 Por meio da fé em Cristo, agora nós, com ousadia e confiança, temos acesso à presença de Deus.
13 Therefore I entreat you not to lose heart in the midst of my sufferings on your behalf, for they bring you honour.
13 Portanto, peço-lhes que não desanimem por causa de minhas provações. É por vocês que sofro; a honra é de vocês.
14 For this reason, on bended knee I beseech the Father,
14 Quando penso em tudo isso, caio de joelhos e oro ao Pai,
15 from whom the whole family in Heaven and on earth derives its name,
15 o Criador de todas as coisas nos céus e na terra.
16 to grant you –in accordance with the wealth of His glorious perfections– to be strengthened by His Spirit with power penetrating to your inmost being.
16 Peço que, da riqueza de sua glória, ele os fortaleça com poder interior por meio de seu Espírito.
17 I pray that Christ may make His home in your hearts through your faith; so that having your roots deep and your foundations strong, in love, you may become mighty to grasp the idea,
17 Então Cristo habitará em seu coração à medida que vocês confiarem nele. Suas raízes se aprofundarão em amor e os manterão fortes.
18 as it is grasped by all God's people, of the breadth and length, the height and depth–
18 Também peço que, como convém a todo o povo santo, vocês possam compreender a largura, o comprimento, a altura e a profundidade do amor de Cristo.
19 yes, to attain to a knowledge of the knowledge-surpassing love of Christ, so that you may be made complete in accordance with God's own standard of completeness.
19 Que vocês experimentem esse amor, ainda que seja grande demais para ser inteiramente compreendido. Então vocês serão preenchidos com toda a plenitude de vida e poder que vêm de Deus.
20 Now to Him who, in exercise of His power that is at work within us, is able to do infinitely beyond all our highest prayers or thoughts–
20 Toda a glória seja a Deus que, por seu grandioso poder que atua em nós, é capaz de realizar infinitamente mais do que poderíamos pedir ou imaginar.
21 to Him be the glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, world without end! Amen.
21 A ele seja a glória na igreja e em Cristo Jesus por todas as gerações, para todo o sempre! Amém.
