1 Therefore, being engaged in this service and being mindful of the mercy which has been shown us, we are not cowards.
1 Deus, na sua misericórdia, nos deu essa tarefa, e é por isso que nunca ficamos desanimados.
2 Nay, we have renounced the secrecy which marks a feeling of shame. We practice no cunning tricks, nor do we adulterate God's Message. But by a full clear statement of the truth we strive to commend ourselves in the presence of God to every human conscience.
2 Nós rejeitamos tudo o que é feito escondido e tudo o que é vergonhoso. Não agimos de má-fé, nem falsificamos a mensagem de Deus. Pelo contrário, agimos sempre abertamente, de acordo com a verdade, e assim as pessoas têm uma boa impressão de nós, que vivemos na presença de Deus.
3 If, however, the meaning of our Good News has been veiled, the veil has been on the hearts of those who are on the way to perdition,
3 Porque, se o evangelho que anunciamos está escondido, está escondido somente para os que estão se perdendo.
4 in whom the god of this present age has blinded their unbelieving minds so as to shut out the sunshine of the Good News of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God.
4 Eles não podem crer, pois o deus deste mundo conservou a mente deles na escuridão. Ele não os deixa ver a luz que brilha sobre eles, a luz que vem da boa notícia a respeito da glória de Cristo, o qual nos mostra como Deus realmente é.
5 (For we do not proclaim ourselves, but we proclaim Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bondservants for the sake of Jesus.)
5 Pois nós não anunciamos a nós mesmos; nós anunciamos Jesus Cristo como o Senhor e a nós como servos de vocês, por causa de Jesus.
6 For God who said, »Out of darkness let light shine,« is He who has shone in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory, which is radiant on the face of Christ.
6 O Deus que disse: “Que da escuridão brilhe a luz” é o mesmo que fez a luz brilhar no nosso coração. E isso para nos trazer a luz do conhecimento da glória de Deus, que brilha no rosto de Jesus Cristo.
7 But we have this treasure in a fragile vase of clay, in order that the surpassing greatness of the power may be seen to belong to God, and not to originate in us.
7 Porém nós que temos esse tesouro espiritual somos como potes de barro para que fique claro que o poder supremo pertence a Deus e não a nós.
8 We are hard pressed, yet never in absolute distress; perplexed, yet never utterly baffled;
8 Muitas vezes ficamos aflitos, mas não somos derrotados. Algumas vezes ficamos em dúvida, mas nunca ficamos desesperados.
9 pursued, yet never left unsuccoured; struck to the ground, yet never slain;
9 Temos muitos inimigos, mas nunca nos falta um amigo. Às vezes somos gravemente feridos, mas não somos destruídos.
10 always, wherever we go, carrying with us in our bodies the putting to death of Jesus, so that in our bodies it may also be clearly shown that Jesus lives.
10 Levamos sempre no nosso corpo mortal a morte de Jesus para que também a vida dele seja vista no nosso corpo.
11 For we, alive though we are, are continually surrendering ourselves to death for the sake of Jesus, so that in this mortal nature of ours it may also be clearly shown that Jesus lives.
11 Durante a vida inteira estamos sempre em perigo de morte por causa de Jesus, para que a vida dele seja vista neste nosso corpo mortal.
12 Thus we are constantly dying, while you are in full enjoyment of Life.
12 De modo que a morte está agindo em nós, e a vida está agindo em vocês.
13 But possessing the same Spirit of faith as he who wrote, »I believed, and therefore I have spoken,« we also believe, and therefore we speak.
13 As Escrituras Sagradas dizem: “Eu cri e por isso falei.” Pois assim nós, que temos a mesma fé em Deus, também falamos porque cremos.
14 For we know that He who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will raise us also to be with Jesus, and will cause both us and you to stand in His own presence.
14 Pois sabemos que Deus, que ressuscitou o Senhor Jesus, também nos ressuscitará com ele e nos levará, junto com vocês, até a presença dele.
15 For everything is for your sakes, in order that grace, being more richly bestowed because of the thanksgivings of the increased number, may more and more promote the glory of God.
15 Tudo isso aconteceu para o bem de vocês, a fim de que a graça de Deus alcance um número cada vez maior de pessoas, e estas façam mais orações de agradecimento, para a glória de Deus.
16 Therefore we are not cowards. Nay, even though our outward man is wasting away, yet our inward man is being renewed day by day.
16 Por isso nunca ficamos desanimados. Mesmo que o nosso corpo vá se gastando, o nosso espírito vai se renovando dia a dia.
17 For this our light and transitory burden of suffering is achieving for us a preponderating, yes, a vastly preponderating, and eternal weight of glory;
17 E essa pequena e passageira aflição que sofremos vai nos trazer uma glória enorme e eterna, muito maior do que o sofrimento.
18 while we look not at things seen, but things unseen; for things seen are temporary, but things unseen are eternal.
18 Porque nós não prestamos atenção nas coisas que se veem, mas nas que não se veem. Pois o que pode ser visto dura apenas um pouco, mas o que não pode ser visto dura para sempre.
