1 Then fourteen years after, I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.
1 Então, catorze anos depois, eu subi outra vez a Jerusalém com Barnabé, levando também Tito comigo.
2 I went up by revelation, and explained to them the gospel, which I preach among the Gentiles; but severally to those of eminence, lest by any means I should run, or should have run in vain.
2 E subi por causa de uma revelação, e comuniquei-lhes o evangelho que prego entre os gentios, porém particularmente aos que eram de reputação, a fim de eu não correr ou de não ter corrido em vão.
3 (But neither was Titus, who was with me,
3 Mas nem Tito, que estava comigo, sendo grego, foi obrigado a circuncidar-se;
4 being a Greek, compelled to be circumcised, Because of false brethren introduced unawares, who came in privily, to spy out our liberty which we have through Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
4 e isso por causa da presença dos falsos irmãos, desconhecedores, que secretamente introduziram-se entre nós para espionar a liberdade que temos em Cristo Jesus, a fim de nos escravizar;
5 To whom we did not yield by submission, no, not an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.)
5 aos quais não nos sujeitamos nem por uma hora; a fim de que a verdade do evangelho permanecesse convosco.
6 And they who undoubtedly were something, (but whatsoever they were, it is no difference to me; God accepteth no man's person) they who undoubtedly were something in conference, added nothing to me.
6 Mas quanto aos que pareciam ser alguma coisa, (o que quer que eles fossem, nenhuma diferença faz para mim: nada me importa; Deus não se deixa levar pela aparência do homem) pois aqueles que pareciam ser alguma coisa quando reunidos nada me acrescentaram,
7 But on the contrary, when they saw that I was intrusted with the gospel of the uncircumcision, as Peter with that of the circumcision:
7 antes, pelo contrário, quando viram que o evangelho da incircuncisão me foi confiado, assim como o evangelho da circuncisão foi confiado a Pedro;
8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, wrought likewise effectually in me toward the Gentiles:
8 (porque aquele que operou eficazmente em Pedro para o apostolado da circuncisão, o mesmo operou também em mim para com os gentios);
9 ) And when James, and Cephas, and John, who undoubtedly were pillars, knew the grace that was given to me, they gave the right-hands of fellowships to me and Barnabas, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision: Only they desired that we would be mindful of the poor,
9 e quando Tiago, Cefas e João, que pareciam ser os pilares, perceberam a graça que me foi dada, deram a mim e a Barnabé suas mãos direitas em sinal de comunhão; nós iríamos aos gentios e eles aos circuncidados.
10 the same which I also was forward to do.
10 Recomendaram-nos apenas que nos lembrássemos dos pobres; justamente o que eu também estava determinado a fazer.
11 But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be condemned.
11 Quando, porém, Pedro foi para Antioquia, me opus a ele face a face, porque ele era reprovável.
12 For before certain men came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those of the circumcision.
12 Porque, antes de chegarem alguns da parte de Tiago, ele comia com os gentios; mas, quando aqueles vieram, ele retirou-se e separou-se deles, temendo os que eram da circuncisão.
13 And the other Jews also dissembled with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their dissimulation.
13 Os demais judeus se afastaram como ele, de modo que mesmo Barnabé foi levado por eles a essa dissimulação.
14 But when I saw, that they walked not uprightly, according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, If thou being a Jew, livest after the manner of the Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to judaize?
14 Mas, quando vi que eles não andavam corretamente segundo a verdade do evangelho, eu disse a Pedro diante de todos eles: Se tu, sendo judeu, vives como os gentios, e não como os judeus, como obrigas os gentios a viverem como os judeus?
15 We who are Jews by nature,
15 Nós que somos naturalmente judeus, e não pecadores dentre os gentios;
16 and not sinners of the Gentiles, Even we (knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ) have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; because by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
16 sabemos que um homem não é justificado pelas obras da lei, mas pela fé de Jesus Cristo, nós também cremos em Jesus Cristo, para que pudéssemos ser justificados pela fé de Cristo, e não pelas obras da lei, porque pelas obras da lei nenhuma carne será justificada.
17 But if while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore the minister of sin?
17 Porém, se enquanto procuramos ser justificados por Cristo, nós mesmos também formos achados pecadores, por acaso seria Cristo o ministro do pecado? De forma alguma.
18 God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
18 Se torno a construir as coisas que eu destruí, eu faço de mim mesmo um transgressor.
19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I may live to God.
19 Porque eu, pela lei, estou morto para a lei, para que eu possa viver para Deus.
20 I am crucified with Christ, and I live no longer, but Christ liveth in me, and the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
20 Estou crucificado com Cristo, não obstante, eu vivo, porém, não eu, mas Cristo vive em mim. E a vida que agora vivo na carne, vivo-a pela fé do Filho de Deus, que me amou, e entregou-se a si mesmo por mim.
21 I do not make void the grace of God; for if righteousness is by the law, then Christ died in vain.
21 Não negligencio a graça de Deus, pois se a justiça vem pela lei, então Cristo morreu em vão.
