1 Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king’s heart was toward Absalom.
1 Joabe, filho de Zeruia, percebeu que o rei estava com saudade de Absalão,
2 Joab sent to Tekoa and brought a wise woman from there, and said to her, “Please act like a mourner, and put on mourning clothing, please, and don’t anoint yourself with oil; but be as a woman who has mourned a long time for the dead.
2 então mandou buscar uma mulher astuta em Tecoa, e lhe disse: "Finja que está de luto: Vista-se de preto e não se perfume. Aja como uma mulher que há algum tempo está de luto.
3 Go in to the king and speak like this to him.” So Joab put the words in her mouth.
3 Vá dizer ao rei estas palavras", e a instruiu sobre o que ela deveria dizer.
4 When the woman of Tekoa spoke to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, showed respect, and said, “Help, O king!”
4 Quando a mulher apresentou-se ao rei, prostrou-se, rosto em terra, em sinal de respeito, e lhe disse: "Ajuda-me, ó rei! "
5 The king said to her, “What ails you?” She answered, “Truly I am a widow, and my husband is dead.
5 "Qual é o seu problema? ", perguntou-lhe o rei, e ela respondeu: "Sou viúva, meu marido morreu
6 Your servant had two sons; and they both fought together in the field, and there was no one to part them, but the one struck the other and killed him.
6 deixando-me com dois filhos. Eles brigaram no campo e, não havendo ninguém para separá-los, um acabou matando o outro.
7 Behold, the whole family has risen against your servant, and they say, ‘Deliver him who struck his brother, that we may kill him for the life of his brother whom he killed, and so destroy the heir also.’ Thus they would quench my coal which is left, and would leave to my husband neither name nor remainder on the surface of the earth.”
7 Agora, todo o clã levantou-se contra a tua serva, exigindo: ‘Entregue o assassino, para que o matemos pela vida do irmão, e nos livremos também do herdeiro’. Assim eles querem apagar a última centelha que me restou, deixando meu marido sem nome nem descendência na face da terra".
8 The king said to the woman, “Go to your house, and I will give a command concerning you.”
8 O rei disse à mulher: "Vá para casa. Eu mandarei que cuidem do seu caso".
9 The woman of Tekoa said to the king, “My lord, O king, may the iniquity be on me, and on my father’s house; and may the king and his throne be guiltless.”
9 Mas a mulher de Tecoa lhe disse: "Ó rei, meu senhor, é sobre mim e sobre a família de meu pai que pesará a iniqüidade; não pesa culpa sobre o rei e sobre o seu trono".
10 The king said, “Whoever says anything to you, bring him to me, and he will not bother you any more.”
10 O rei respondeu: "Se alguém ameaçá-la, traga-o a mim, e ele não mais a incomodará".
11 Then she said, “Please let the king remember Yahweh your God, that the avenger of blood destroy not any more, lest they destroy my son.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the earth.”
11 Ela acrescentou: "Peço então ao rei que, em nome do Senhor, o seu Deus, não permita que o vingador da vítima cause maior destruição, matando meu outro filho". E disse ele: "Eu juro pelo nome do Senhor, que nem um só fio de cabelo da cabeça de seu filho cairá".
12 Then the woman said, “Please let your servant speak a word to my lord the king.” He said, “Say on.”
12 Disse-lhe ainda a mulher: "Permite que a tua serva fale mais uma coisa ao rei meu senhor". "Fale", respondeu ele.
13 The woman said, “Why then have you devised such a thing against the people of God? For in speaking this word the king is as one who is guilty, in that the king does not bring home again his banished one.
13 Disse então a mulher: "Por que terá o rei agido contra o povo de Deus? O rei está se condenando com o que acaba de dizer, pois não permitiu a volta do que foi banido.
14 For we must die, and are like water spilled on the ground, which can’t be gathered up again; neither does God take away life, but devises means, that he who is banished not be an outcast from him.
14 Que teremos que morrer um dia, é tão certo como não se pode recolher a água que se espalhou pela terra. Mas Deus não tira a vida; pelo contrário, cria meios para que o banido não permaneça afastado dele.
15 Now therefore, seeing that I have come to speak this word to my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid. Your servant said, ‘I will now speak to the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his servant.’
15 "E eu vim falar sobre isso ao rei, meu senhor, porque o povo me ameaçou. Tua serva pensou que se falasse com o rei, talvez ele atendesse o seu pedido,
16 For the king will hear, to deliver his servant out of the hand of the man who would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.
16 e concordasse em livrar a sua serva das mãos do homem que está tentando eliminar tanto a mim como a meu filho da herança que Deus nos deu.
17 Then your servant said, ‘Please let the word of my lord the king bring rest; for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad. May Yahweh, your God, be with you.’”
17 "E agora a tua serva diz: Traga-me descanso a decisão do rei, o meu senhor, pois o rei, meu senhor, é como um anjo de Deus, capaz de discernir entre o bem e o mal. Que o Senhor teu Deus esteja contigo! "
18 Then the king answered the woman, “Please don’t hide anything from me that I ask you.” The woman said, “Let my lord the king now speak.”
18 Então o rei disse à mulher: "Não me esconda nada do que vou lhe perguntar". "Fale o rei, meu senhor", disse a mulher.
19 The king said, “Is the hand of Joab with you in all this?” The woman answered, “As your soul lives, my lord the king, no one can turn to the right hand or to the left from anything that my lord the king has spoken; for your servant Joab urged me, and he put all these words in the mouth of your servant.
19 O rei perguntou: "Não é Joabe que está por trás de tudo isso? " A mulher respondeu: "Juro por tua vida, ó rei, ninguém é capaz de desviar-se para a direita ou para a esquerda do que tu dizes. Sim, foi o teu servo Joabe quem me mandou aqui para dizer tudo isso.
20 Your servant Joab has done this thing to change the face of the matter. My lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.”
20 O teu servo Joabe agiu assim para mudar essa situação. Mas o meu senhor é sábio como um anjo de Deus, e nada lhe escapa de tudo o que acontece em seu país".
21 The king said to Joab, “Behold now, I have granted this thing. Go therefore, and bring the young man Absalom back.”
21 Depois o rei disse a Joabe: "Muito bem, atenderei esse pedido. Vá e traga de volta o jovem Absalão".
22 Joab fell to the ground on his face, showed respect, and blessed the king. Joab said, “Today your servant knows that I have found favor in your sight, my lord, O king, in that the king has performed the request of his servant.”
22 Joabe prostrou-se, rosto em terra, abençoou o rei e disse: "Hoje o teu servo ficou sabendo que o vês com bons olhos, pois o rei atendeu o pedido de seu servo".
23 So Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.
23 Então Joabe foi a Gesur e trouxe Absalão de volta para Jerusalém.
24 The king said, “Let him return to his own house, but let him not see my face.” So Absalom returned to his own house, and didn’t see the king’s face.
24 Mas o rei disse: "Ele irá para a casa dele; não virá à minha presença". Assim, Absalão foi para a sua casa e não compareceu mais à presença do rei.
25 Now in all Israel there was no one to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty. From the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no defect in him.
25 Em todo o Israel não havia homem tão elogiado por sua beleza como Absalão. Da cabeça aos pés não havia nele nenhum defeito.
26 When he cut the hair of his head (now it was at every year’s end that he cut it; because it was heavy on him, therefore he cut it), he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels, after the king’s weight.
26 Sempre que o cabelo lhe ficava pesado demais, ele o cortava e o pesava: eram dois quilos e quatrocentos gramas, segundo o padrão do rei.
27 Three sons were born to Absalom, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar. She was a woman with a beautiful face.
27 Ele teve três filhos e uma filha, chamada Tamar, que se tornou uma linda mulher.
28 Absalom lived two full years in Jerusalem, and he didn’t see the king’s face.
28 Absalão morou dois anos em Jerusalém sem ser recebido pelo rei.
29 Then Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king, but he would not come to him. Then he sent again a second time, but he would not come.
29 Então mandou chamar Joabe para enviá-lo ao rei, mas Joabe não quis ir. Mandou chamá-lo pela segunda vez, mas ele, novamente, não quis ir.
30 Therefore he said to his servants, “Behold, Joab’s field is near mine, and he has barley there. Go and set it on fire.” So Absalom’s servants set the field on fire.
30 Então Absalão disse a seus servos: "Vejam, a propriedade de Joabe é vizinha da minha, e ele tem uma plantação de cevada. Tratem de incendiá-la". E os servos de Absalão puseram fogo na plantação.
31 Then Joab arose and came to Absalom to his house, and said to him, “Why have your servants set my field on fire?”
31 Então Joabe foi à casa de Absalão e lhe perguntou: "Porque os seus servos puseram fogo na minha propriedade? "
32 Absalom answered Joab, “Behold, I sent to you, saying, ‘Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, “Why have I come from Geshur? It would be better for me to be there still. Now therefore, let me see the king’s face; and if there is iniquity in me, let him kill me.”’”
32 Absalão respondeu: "Mandei chamá-lo para enviá-lo ao rei com a seguinte mensagem: ‘Por que voltei de Gesur? Melhor seria que eu lá permanecesse! ’ Quero ser recebido pelo rei; e, se eu for culpado de alguma coisa, que ele mande me matar".
33 So Joab came to the king and told him; and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king; and the king kissed Absalom.
33 Então Joabe foi contar tudo ao rei. Este mandou chamar Absalão, que entrou e prostrou-se, rosto em terra, perante o rei. E o rei saudou-o com um beijo.
