1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the assembly of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia:
1 Paulo, um apóstolo de Jesus Cristo pela vontade de Deus, e Timóteo nosso irmão, à igreja de Deus, que está em Corinto, com todos os santos que estão em toda a Acaia:
2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Graça seja convosco, e a paz de Deus nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
3 Bendito seja o Deus e Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, o Pai das misericórdias, e o Deus de toda consolação;
4 who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
4 que nos conforta em toda a nossa tribulação, para que também possamos confortar os que estiverem em alguma tribulação, por meio do consolo com o qual nós mesmos somos confortados por Deus.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.
5 Porque como os sofrimentos de Cristo são abundantes em nós, assim também a nossa consolação é abundante por meio de Cristo.
6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer.
6 E se somos afligidos, é para vossa consolação e salvação; que é eficaz na perseverança dos mesmos sofrimentos que nós também sofremos; ou se somos confortados, é para vossa consolação e salvação.
7 Our hope for you is steadfast, knowing that, since you are partakers of the sufferings, so you are also of the comfort.
7 E a nossa esperança acerca de vós é firme, sabendo que assim como sois participantes dos sofrimentos, assim também o sereis da consolação.
8 For we don’t desire to have you uninformed, brothers, concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia: that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.
8 Porque nós não queremos, irmãos, que ignoreis a dificuldade que nos sobreveio na Ásia, que fomos oprimidos excessivamente, acima das nossas forças, de tal modo que nos desesperamos até da vida;
9 Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,
9 mas tínhamos a sentença de morte em nós mesmos, para que não confiássemos em nós mesmos, mas em Deus que ressuscita os mortos;
10 who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver, on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us,
10 o qual nos livrou de tão grande morte e livra; em quem confiamos que ainda nos livrará;
11 you also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift given to us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on your behalf.
11 juntos também ajudando com orações por nós, para que pelo dom a nós concedido, por meio de muitas pessoas, graças sejam dadas por muitos a nosso respeito.
12 For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.
12 Porque o nosso regozijo é este: o testemunho da nossa consciência, de que, com simplicidade e sinceridade piedosa, não com sabedoria carnal, mas pela graça de Deus, tivemos nossa conversação no mundo, e mais abundantemente convosco.
13 For we write no other things to you than what you read or even acknowledge, and I hope you will acknowledge to the end—
13 Porque não vos escrevemos nenhumas outras coisas, senão as que ledes ou reconheceis; e eu confio que vós as reconhecereis até ao fim;
14 as also you acknowledged us in part—that we are your boasting, even as you also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.
14 como também nos reconhecestes em parte, que somos o vosso regozijo, assim como também vós sois o nosso no dia do Senhor Jesus.
15 In this confidence, I was determined to come first to you, that you might have a second benefit,
15 E nesta confiança propus anteriormente ir até vós, para que tivésseis um segundo benefício;
16 and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and to be sent forward by you on my journey to Judea.
16 e de passar por vós até a Macedônia, e novamente retornar da Macedônia e ir a vós, e ser conduzido por vós no meu caminho em direção à Judeia.
17 When I therefore planned this, did I show fickleness? Or the things that I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be the “Yes, yes” and the “No, no?”
17 Quando eu, portanto, deliberei isto, usei de leviandade? Ou o que proponho, o delibero segundo a carne, para que em mim haja sim, sim, e não, não?
18 But as God is faithful, our word toward you was not “Yes and no.”
18 Mas como Deus é verdadeiro, a nossa palavra para convosco não foi sim e não.
19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not “Yes and no,” but in him is “Yes.”
19 Porque o Filho de Deus, Jesus Cristo, que foi pregado entre vós por nós, por mim, Silvano e Timóteo, não foi sim e não, mas nele foi sim.
20 For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen”, to the glory of God through us.
20 Porque todas as promessas de Deus nele são sim, e por ele o Amém, para a glória de Deus por nós.
21 Now he who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,
21 Ora, aquele que nos estabelece convosco em Cristo, e o que nos ungiu, é Deus;
22 who also sealed us and gave us the down payment of the Spirit in our hearts.
22 o qual também nos selou, e deu o penhor do Espírito em nossos corações.
23 But I call God for a witness to my soul, that I didn’t come to Corinth to spare you.
23 Além disso, eu invoco a Deus por testemunha sobre a minha alma, de que para vos poupar ainda não fui para Corinto.
24 We don’t control your faith, but are fellow workers with you for your joy. For you stand firm in faith.
24 Não que tenhamos domínio sobre a vossa fé, mas somos ajudadores de vossa alegria; porque pela fé estais em pé.
