1 Behold, a man of God came out of Judah by Yahweh’s word to Bethel; and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.
1 Eis que, por ordem do Senhor , veio de Judá a Betel um homem de Deus; e Jeroboão estava junto ao altar, para queimar incenso.
2 He cried against the altar by Yahweh’s word, and said, “Altar! Altar! Yahweh says: ‘Behold, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’”
2 Clamou o profeta contra o altar, por ordem do Senhor , e disse: Altar, altar! Assim diz o Senhor : Eis que um filho nascerá à casa de Davi, cujo nome será Josias, o qual sacrificará sobre ti os sacerdotes dos altos que queimam sobre ti incenso, e ossos humanos se queimarão sobre ti.
3 He gave a sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign which Yahweh has spoken: Behold, the altar will be split apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out.”
3 Deu, naquele mesmo dia, um sinal, dizendo: Este é o sinal de que o Senhor falou: Eis que o altar se fenderá, e se derramará a cinza que há sobre ele.
4 When the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him!” His hand, which he put out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to himself.
4 Tendo o rei ouvido as palavras do homem de Deus, que clamara contra o altar de Betel, Jeroboão estendeu a mão de sobre o altar, dizendo: Prendei-o! Mas a mão que estendera contra o homem de Deus secou, e não a podia recolher.
5 The altar was also split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by Yahweh’s word.
5 O altar se fendeu, e a cinza se derramou do altar, segundo o sinal que o homem de Deus apontara por ordem do Senhor .
6 The king answered the man of God, “Now intercede for the favor of Yahweh your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again.” The man of God interceded with Yahweh, and the king’s hand was restored to him again, and became as it was before.
6 Então, disse o rei ao homem de Deus: Implora o favor do Senhor , teu Deus, e ora por mim, para que eu possa recolher a mão. Então, o homem de Deus implorou o favor do Senhor , e a mão do rei se lhe recolheu e ficou como dantes.
7 The king said to the man of God, “Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.”
7 Disse o rei ao homem de Deus: Vem comigo a casa e fortalece-te; e eu te recompensarei.
8 The man of God said to the king, “Even if you gave me half of your house, I would not go in with you, neither would I eat bread nor drink water in this place;
8 Porém o homem de Deus disse ao rei: Ainda que me desses metade da tua casa, não iria contigo, nem comeria pão, nem beberia água neste lugar.
9 for so was it commanded me by Yahweh’s word, saying, ‘You shall eat no bread, drink no water, and don’t return by the way that you came.’”
9 Porque assim me ordenou o Senhor pela sua palavra, dizendo: Não comerás pão, nem beberás água; e não voltarás pelo caminho por onde foste.
10 So he went another way, and didn’t return by the way that he came to Bethel.
10 E se foi por outro caminho; e não voltou pelo caminho por onde viera a Betel.
11 Now an old prophet lived in Bethel, and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. They also told their father the words which he had spoken to the king.
11 Morava em Betel um profeta velho; vieram seus filhos e lhe contaram tudo o que o homem de Deus fizera aquele dia em Betel; as palavras que dissera ao rei, contaram-nas a seu pai.
12 Their father said to them, “Which way did he go?” Now his sons had seen which way the man of God went, who came from Judah.
12 Perguntou-lhes o pai: Por que caminho se foi? Mostraram seus filhos o caminho por onde fora o homem de Deus que viera de Judá.
13 He said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” So they saddled the donkey for him; and he rode on it.
13 Então, disse a seus filhos: Albardai-me um jumento. Albardaram-lhe o jumento, e ele montou.
14 He went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. He said to him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” He said, “I am.”
14 E foi após o homem de Deus e, achando-o sentado debaixo de um carvalho, lhe disse: És tu o homem de Deus que vieste de Judá? Ele respondeu: Eu mesmo.
15 Then he said to him, “Come home with me and eat bread.”
15 Então, lhe disse: Vem comigo a casa e come pão.
16 He said, “I may not return with you, nor go in with you. I will not eat bread or drink water with you in this place.
16 Porém ele disse: Não posso voltar contigo, nem entrarei contigo; não comerei pão, nem beberei água contigo neste lugar.
17 For it was said to me by Yahweh’s word, ‘You shall eat no bread or drink water there, and don’t turn again to go by the way that you came.’”
17 Porque me foi dito pela palavra do Senhor : Ali, não comerás pão, nem beberás água, nem voltarás pelo caminho por que foste.
18 He said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by Yahweh’s word, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” He lied to him.
18 Tornou-lhe ele: Também eu sou profeta como tu, e um anjo me falou por ordem do Senhor , dizendo: Faze-o voltar contigo a tua casa, para que coma pão e beba água. (Porém mentiu-lhe.)
19 So he went back with him, ate bread in his house, and drank water.
19 Então, voltou ele, e comeu pão em sua casa, e bebeu água.
20 As they sat at the table, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet who brought him back;
20 Estando eles à mesa, veio a palavra do Senhor ao profeta que o tinha feito voltar;
21 and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Yahweh says, ‘Because you have been disobedient to Yahweh’s word, and have not kept the commandment which Yahweh your God commanded you,
21 e clamou ao homem de Deus, que viera de Judá, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor : Porquanto foste rebelde à palavra do Senhor e não guardaste o mandamento que o Senhor , teu Deus, te mandara,
22 but came back, and have eaten bread and drank water in the place of which he said to you, “Eat no bread, and drink no water,” your body will not come to the tomb of your fathers.’”
22 antes, voltaste, e comeste pão, e bebeste água no lugar de que te dissera: Não comerás pão, nem beberás água, o teu cadáver não entrará no sepulcro de teus pais.
23 After he had eaten bread and after he drank, he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.
23 Depois de o profeta a quem fizera voltar haver comido pão e bebido água, albardou para ele o jumento.
24 When he had gone, a lion met him by the way and killed him. His body was thrown on the path, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the body.
24 Foi-se, pois, e um leão o encontrou no caminho e o matou; o seu cadáver estava atirado no caminho, e o jumento e o leão, parados junto ao cadáver.
25 Behold, men passed by and saw the body thrown on the path, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.
25 Eis que os homens passaram e viram o corpo lançado no caminho, como também o leão parado junto ao corpo; e vieram e o disseram na cidade onde o profeta velho habitava.
26 When the prophet who brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who was disobedient to Yahweh’s word. Therefore Yahweh has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke to him.”
26 Ouvindo-o o profeta que o fizera voltar do caminho, disse: É o homem de Deus, que foi rebelde à palavra do Senhor ; por isso, o Senhor o entregou ao leão, que o despedaçou e matou, segundo a palavra que o Senhor lhe tinha dito.
27 He said to his sons, saying, “Saddle the donkey for me,” and they saddled it.
27 Então, disse a seus filhos: Albardai-me o jumento. Eles o albardaram.
28 He went and found his body thrown on the path, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body. The lion had not eaten the body nor mauled the donkey.
28 Ele se foi e achou o cadáver atirado no caminho e o jumento e o leão, parados junto ao cadáver; o leão não tinha devorado o corpo, nem despedaçado o jumento.
29 The prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. He came to the city of the old prophet to mourn, and to bury him.
29 Então, o profeta levantou o cadáver do homem de Deus, e o pôs sobre o jumento, e o tornou a levar; assim, veio o profeta velho à cidade, para o chorar e enterrar.
30 He laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!”
30 Depositou o cadáver no seu próprio sepulcro; e o prantearam, dizendo: Ah! Irmão meu!
31 After he had buried him, he spoke to his sons, saying, “When I am dead, bury me in the tomb in which the man of God is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.
31 Depois de o haver sepultado, disse a seus filhos: Quando eu morrer, enterrai-me no sepulcro em que o homem de Deus está sepultado; ponde os meus ossos junto aos ossos dele.
32 For the saying which he cried by Yahweh’s word against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen.”
32 Porque certamente se cumprirá o que por ordem do Senhor clamou contra o altar que está em Betel e contra todas as casas dos altos que estão nas cidades de Samaria.
33 After this thing, Jeroboam didn’t turn from his evil way, but again made priests of the high places from among all the people. Whoever wanted to, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places.
33 Depois destas coisas, Jeroboão ainda não deixou o seu mau caminho; antes, de entre o povo tornou a constituir sacerdotes para lugares altos; a quem queria, consagrava para sacerdote dos lugares altos.
34 This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.
34 Isso se tornou em pecado à casa de Jeroboão, para destruí-la e extingui-la da terra.
