³ \140:2\Who imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they assembled for war.

³ Aguçam a língua como a serpente; sob os lábios têm veneno de áspide.

⁵ \140:4\Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

⁵ Os soberbos ocultaram armadilhas e cordas contra mim, estenderam-me uma rede à beira do caminho, armaram ciladas contra mim.

⁶ \140:5\The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the way side: they have set gins for me. Selah.

⁹ \140:8\Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.

⁹ Se exaltam a cabeça os que me cercam, cubra-os a maldade dos seus lábios.

¹⁰ \140:9\As for the head of those that encompass me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

¹⁰ Caiam sobre eles brasas vivas, sejam atirados ao fogo, lançados em abismos para que não mais se levantem.

¹¹ \140:10\Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not again.

¹¹ O caluniador não se estabelecerá na terra; ao homem violento, o mal o perseguirá com golpe sobre golpe.

¹² \140:11\Let not an evil speaker be established on the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

¹² Sei que o Senhor manterá a causa do oprimido e o direito do necessitado.

¹³ \140:12\I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.

¹³ Assim, os justos renderão graças ao teu nome; os retos habitarão na tua presença.

¹⁴ \140:13\Surely the righteous shall give thanks to thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
