1 And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
1 E aconteceu, depois destas coisas, que alguém contou a José: Eis que teu pai está enfermo. E ele tomou seus dois filhos, Manassés e Efraim.
2 And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh to thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.
2 E alguém contou a Jacó: Eis que teu filho José vem a ti. E Israel se fortaleceu, e sentou-se sobre a sua cama.
3 And Jacob said to Joseph, God Almighty appeared to me at Luz, in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
3 E Jacó disse a José: O Deus Todo-Poderoso me apareceu em Luz, na terra de Canaã, e me abençoou,
4 And said to me, Behold I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee, for an everlasting possession.
4 e me disse: Eis que eu te farei frutificar e te multiplicarei, e farei de ti uma multidão de povos, e darei esta terra à tua semente depois de ti por possessão eterna.
5 And now, thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, who were born to thee in the land of Egypt, before I came to thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.
5 E agora teus dois filhos, Efraim e Manassés, que te nasceram na terra do Egito, antes de eu vir a ti no Egito, são meus. Assim como Rúben e Simeão, eles serão meus.
6 And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
6 Mas a tua descendência, que gerares depois deles, serão teus, e serão chamados segundo o nome de teus irmãos na sua herança.
7 And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan, in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath, the same is Beth-lehem.
7 Quanto a mim, quando eu vim de Padã, Raquel morreu junto a mim na terra de Canaã, no caminho, quando ainda havia somente um pequeno caminho para chegar a Efrata. E eu a sepultei ali no caminho de Efrata; esta é Belém.
8 And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?
8 E Israel viu os filhos de José, e disse: Quem são estes?
9 And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, to me, and I will bless them.
9 E José disse a seu pai: Estes são meus filhos, que Deus me deu neste lugar. E ele disse: Traze-os a mim, rogo-te, e eu os abençoarei.
10 (Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see:) And he brought them near to him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.
10 Ora, os olhos de Israel estavam escurecidos pela idade, de modo que ele não podia ver. E ele os levou para perto dele; e ele os beijou, e os abraçou.
11 And Israel said to Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and lo, God hath shown me also thy seed.
11 E Israel disse a José: Eu não havia pensado em ver a tua face, e eis que Deus me mostrou também tua semente.
12 And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
12 E José os tirou dentre os seus joelhos, e ele se curvou com sua face em terra.
13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand towards Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand towards Israel's right hand, and brought them near to him.
13 E José tomou os dois, Efraim em sua mão direita, em direção à esquerda de Israel, e Manassés na sua mão esquerda, em direção à direita de Israel, e os levou para perto dele.
14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands by design; for Manasseh was the first-born.
14 E Israel estendeu sua mão direita, e a colocou sobre a cabeça de Efraim, que era o mais jovem, e sua mão esquerda sobre a cabeça de Manassés, guiando suas mãos conscientemente, pois Manassés era o primogênito.
15 And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who hath fed me all my life long to this day,
15 E ele abençoou José, e disse: Deus, diante do qual andaram meus pais Abraão e Isaque, o Deus que me sustentou toda a minha longa vida até este dia,
16 The angel who hath redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac: and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
16 o anjo que me redimiu de todo o mal, abençoe os rapazes; e permita que meu nome seja colocado neles, e o nome de meus pais Abraão e Isaque; e que os faça crescer em uma multidão no meio da terra.
17 And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he lifted his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head to Manasseh's head.
17 E quando José viu que o seu pai colocou sua mão direita sobre a cabeça de Efraim, isso o desagradou. E ele levantou a mão de seu pai, para removê-la de sobre a cabeça de Efraim para a cabeça de Manassés.
18 And Joseph said to his father, Not so, my father; for this is the first-born; put thy right hand upon his head.
18 E José disse a seu pai: Assim não, meu pai, pois este é o primogênito; põe tua mão direita sobre a cabeça dele.
19 And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it; he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.
19 E seu pai se recusou, e disse: Eu sei, meu filho, eu sei. Ele também se tornará um povo, e ele também será grande. Mas em verdade seu irmão mais jovem será maior do que ele, e sua semente se tornará uma multidão de nações.
20 And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
20 E ele os abençoou naquele dia, dizendo: Em ti abençoará Israel, dizendo: Deus te faça como Efraim e Manassés, e ele colocou Efraim diante de Manassés.
21 And Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I die; but God shall be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers.
21 E Israel disse a José: Eis que eu morro, mas Deus estará convosco, e vos levará novamente à terra de vossos pais.
22 Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.
22 Além disso, eu tenho dado a ti uma porção a mais que a teus irmãos, que eu tirei da mão dos amorreus com a minha espada e com o meu arco.
