1 In that night the king could not sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
1 Naquela noite, o rei não conseguia dormir; então mandou que trouxessem o livro da história de seu reinado e o lessem para ele.
2 And it was found written, that Mordecai had informed of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
2 Nesses registros ele descobriu que Mardoqueu havia denunciado Bigtana e Teres, os dois eunucos que guardavam a porta dos aposentos reais e que haviam conspirado para matar o rei Xerxes.
3 And the king said, What honor and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king's servants that ministered to him, There is nothing done for him.
3 “Que recompensa ou reconhecimento Mardoqueu recebeu por isso?”, quis saber o rei. Seus servos responderam: “Não se fez nada por ele”.
4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman had come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak to the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.
4 “Quem está no pátio?”, perguntou o rei. Hamã tinha acabado de entrar no pátio externo do palácio para pedir ao rei que Mardoqueu fosse executado na forca que ele havia preparado.
5 And the king's servants said to him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
5 Os servos responderam: “É Hamã que está no pátio”. “Digam a ele que entre”, ordenou o rei.
6 So Haman came in. And the king said to him, What shall be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honor? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honor more than to myself?
6 Hamã entrou, e o rei lhe perguntou: “O que devo fazer para honrar um homem que muito me agrada?”. Hamã pensou: “A quem o rei desejaria honrar senão a mim?”.
7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honor,
7 Por isso, respondeu: “Se o rei deseja honrar alguém,
8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:
8 mande trazer um dos mantos que o rei costuma usar, e um cavalo no qual o rei costuma montar, e que tenha o emblema real na cabeça.
9 And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man whom the king delighteth to honor, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honor.
9 Ordene que o manto e o cavalo sejam entregues a um dos mais nobres oficiais do rei e que ele ponha o manto sobre o homem que o rei deseja honrar e o conduza pela praça da cidade sobre o cavalo do rei. Mande que o oficial proclame em alta voz: ‘Assim o rei faz a quem ele deseja honrar!’”.
10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
10 “Excelente!”, disse o rei a Hamã. “Vá depressa pegar meu manto e meu cavalo e faça ao judeu Mardoqueu, que está sentado à porta do palácio, exatamente o que você sugeriu. Não se esqueça de nenhum detalhe!”
11 Then Haman took the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honor.
11 Então Hamã pegou o manto e o cavalo do rei, vestiu Mardoqueu com o manto e o conduziu sobre o cavalo pela praça da cidade, proclamando em alta voz: “Assim o rei faz a quem ele deseja honrar!”.
12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.
12 Depois disso, Mardoqueu voltou para a porta do palácio, mas Hamã correu para casa, abatido e humilhado.
13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife to him, If Mordecai is of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou wilt not prevail against him, but wilt surely fall before him.
13 Quando Hamã contou a Zeres, sua esposa, e a todos os seus amigos o que havia acontecido, seus conselheiros e sua esposa disseram: “Visto que Mardoqueu, diante de quem você foi humilhado, é judeu de nascimento, seus planos contra ele jamais serão bem-sucedidos. Você ficará arruinado se continuar a se opor a ele”.
14 And while they were yet talking with him, came the king's chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
14 Enquanto ainda falavam, os eunucos do rei chegaram e, sem demora, levaram Hamã ao banquete que Ester havia preparado.
