1 These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
1 São estas as palavras da aliança que o Senhor ordenou a Moisés fizesse com os filhos de Israel na terra de Moabe, além da aliança que fizera com eles em Horebe.
2 And Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;
2 Chamou Moisés a todo o Israel e disse-lhe: Tendes visto tudo quanto o Senhor fez na terra do Egito, perante vós, a Faraó, e a todos os seus servos, e a toda a sua terra;
3 The great temptations which thy eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:
3 as grandes provas que os vossos olhos viram, os sinais e grandes maravilhas;
4 Yet the LORD hath not given you a heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day.
4 porém o Senhor não vos deu coração para entender, nem olhos para ver, nem ouvidos para ouvir, até ao dia de hoje.
5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes have not become old upon you, and thy shoe hath not become old upon thy foot.
5 Quarenta anos vos conduzi pelo deserto; não envelheceram sobre vós as vossas vestes, nem se gastou no vosso pé a sandália.
6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drank wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.
6 Pão não comestes e não bebestes vinho nem bebida forte, para que soubésseis que eu sou o Senhor , vosso Deus.
7 And when ye came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle, and we smote them:
7 Quando viestes a este lugar, Seom, rei de Hesbom, e Ogue, rei de Basã, nos saíram ao encontro, à peleja, e nós os ferimos;
8 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh.
8 tomamos-lhes a terra e a demos por herança aos rubenitas, e aos gaditas, e à meia tribo dos manassitas.
9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
9 Guardai, pois, as palavras desta aliança e cumpri-as, para que prospereis em tudo quanto fizerdes.
10 Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
10 Vós estais, hoje, todos perante o Senhor , vosso Deus: os cabeças de vossas tribos, vossos anciãos e os vossos oficiais, todos os homens de Israel,
11 Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood to the drawer of thy water:
11 os vossos meninos, as vossas mulheres e o estrangeiro que está no meio do vosso arraial, desde o vosso rachador de lenha até ao vosso tirador de água,
12 That thou shouldst enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:
12 para que entres na aliança do Senhor , teu Deus, e no juramento que, hoje, o Senhor , teu Deus, faz contigo;
13 That he may establish thee to-day for a people to himself, and that he may be to thee a God, as he hath said to thee, and as he hath sworn to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
13 para que, hoje, te estabeleça por seu povo, e ele te seja por Deus, como te tem prometido, como jurou a teus pais, Abraão, Isaque e Jacó.
14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
14 Não é somente convosco que faço esta aliança e este juramento,
15 But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
15 porém com aquele que, hoje, aqui, está conosco perante o Senhor , nosso Deus, e também com aquele que não está aqui, hoje, conosco.
16 (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;
16 Porque vós sabeis como habitamos na terra do Egito e como passamos pelo meio das nações pelas quais viestes a passar;
17 And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)
17 vistes as suas abominações e os seus ídolos, feitos de madeira e de pedra, bem como vistes a prata e o ouro que havia entre elas;
18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
18 para que, entre vós, não haja homem, nem mulher, nem família, nem tribo cujo coração, hoje, se desvie do Senhor , nosso Deus, e vá servir aos deuses destas nações; para que não haja entre vós raiz que produza erva venenosa e amarga,
19 And it should come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he should bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
19 ninguém que, ouvindo as palavras desta maldição, se abençoe no seu íntimo, dizendo: Terei paz, ainda que ande na perversidade do meu coração, para acrescentar à sede a bebedice.
20 The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.
20 O Senhor não lhe quererá perdoar; antes, fumegará a ira do Senhor e o seu zelo sobre tal homem, e toda maldição escrita neste livro jazerá sobre ele; e o Senhor lhe apagará o nome de debaixo do céu.
21 And the LORD shall separate him to evil out of all the tribes of Israel according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:
21 O Senhor o separará de todas as tribos de Israel para calamidade, segundo todas as maldições da aliança escrita neste Livro da Lei.
22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall arise after you, and the stranger that shall come from a distant land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;
22 Então, dirá a geração vindoura, os vossos filhos, que se levantarem depois de vós, e o estrangeiro que virá de terras longínquas, vendo as pragas desta terra e as suas doenças, com que o Senhor a terá afligido,
23 And that the whole land of it is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor doth it bear, nor doth any grass grow in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger and in his wrath:
23 e toda a sua terra abrasada com enxofre e sal, de sorte que não será semeada, e nada produzirá, nem crescerá nela erva alguma, assim como foi a destruição de Sodoma e de Gomorra, de Admá e de Zeboim, que o Senhor destruiu na sua ira e no seu furor,
24 Even all the nations shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus to this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?
24 isto é, todas as nações dirão: Por que fez o Senhor assim com esta terra? Qual foi a causa do furor de tamanha ira?
25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth from the land of Egypt:
25 Então, se dirá: Porque desprezaram a aliança que o Senhor , Deus de seus pais, fez com eles, quando os tirou do Egito;
26 For they went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods which they knew not, and which he had not given to them:
26 e se foram, e serviram a outros deuses, e os adoraram; deuses que não conheceram e que ele não lhes havia designado.
27 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:
27 Pelo que a ira do Senhor se acendeu contra esta terra, trazendo sobre ela toda a maldição que está escrita neste livro.
28 And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.
28 O Senhor os arrancou, com ira, de sua terra, mas também com indignação e grande furor, e os lançou para outra terra, como hoje se vê.
29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong to us, and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
29 As coisas encobertas pertencem ao Senhor , nosso Deus, porém as reveladas nos pertencem, a nós e a nossos filhos, para sempre, para que cumpramos todas as palavras desta lei.
