1 Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
1 Amazias tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar; e reinou vinte e nove anos em Jerusalém. E o nome da sua mãe era Jeoadã, de Jerusalém.
2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.
2 E ele fez aquilo que era reto aos olhos do SENHOR, mas não com um coração perfeito.
3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.
3 Ora, sucedeu, quando o reino lhe foi estabelecido, que ele matou os seus servos que haviam assassinado o rei, o seu pai.
4 But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law of the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.
4 Porém, ele não matou os seus filhos, mas fez como está escrito na lei, no livro de Moisés, onde o SENHOR ordenou, dizendo: Os pais não morrerão pelos filhos, nem os filhos morrerão pelos pais, mas cada homem morrerá pelo seu próprio pecado.
5 Moreover, Amaziah assembled Judah, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.
5 Além disso, Amazias reuniu Judá, e fez deles capitães sobre milhares, e capitães sobre centúrias, de acordo com as casas dos seus pais, por todo o Judá e Benjamim; e ele os enumerou, de vinte anos de idade para cima, e neles achou trezentos mil homens escolhidos, aptos para sair à guerra, que conseguiam manusear a lança e o escudo.
6 He hired also a hundred thousand mighty men of valor out of Israel for a hundred talents of silver.
6 Também de Israel ele contratou cem mil homens fortes e valentes, por cem talentos de prata.
7 But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim.
7 Porém, um homem de Deus veio até ele, dizendo: Ó rei, não permitas que o exército de Israel vá contigo; porque o SENHOR não está com Israel, a saber, com todos os filhos de Efraim.
8 But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God will make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.
8 Porém, se tu quiseres ir, que vá, sede forte para a batalha; Deus te fará tombar diante do inimigo; pois Deus tem poder para socorrer, e para lançar por terra.
9 And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.
9 E Amazias disse ao homem de Deus: Mas, o que faremos dos cem talentos os quais dei ao exército de Israel? E o homem de Deus respondeu: O SENHOR é capaz de te dar muito mais do que isso.
10 Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that had come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.
10 Então, Amazias separou o exército que veio até ele de Efraim, para retornar para casa; porquanto a sua ira foi grandemente acendida contra Judá, e eles retornaram para casa em grande ira.
11 And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
11 E Amazias fortaleceu-se, e conduziu o seu povo, e foram até o vale do Sal, e feriram a dez mil dos filhos de Seir.
12 And other ten thousand left alive the children of Judah carried away captive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they were all broken in pieces.
12 E outros dez mil deixados vivos, os filhos de Judá levaram consigo cativos e os trouxeram até o cume da rocha, e os lançaram abaixo do cume da rocha, para que todos fossem quebrados em pedaços.
13 But the soldiers of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even to Beth-horon, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.
13 Porém, os soldados do exército que Amazias enviou de volta, para que não fossem com ele à batalha, caíram sobre as cidades de Judá, desde Samaria até Bete-Horom, e feriram três mil delas, e tomaram muito despojo.
14 Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah had come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed himself before them, and burned incense to them.
14 Ora, sucedeu depois que Amazias chegou do massacre dos edomitas, que ele trouxe os deuses dos filhos de Seir, e os ergueu para serem os seus deuses, e se curvou diante deles, e queimou incenso a eles.
15 Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet, who said to him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thy hand?
15 Porquanto a ira do SENHOR foi acesa contra Amazias, e ele enviou-lhe um profeta, o qual lhe disse: Por que tens buscado os deuses do povo, os quais não puderam livrar o seu próprio povo da tua mão?
16 And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, Art thou made of the king's council? forbear? why shouldst thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbore, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my counsel.
16 E sucedeu que, enquanto ele lhe falava, o rei disse-lhe: fizeram-te por conselheiro do rei? Refreia-te! Por que serias tu ferido? Então, o profeta refreou-se, e disse: Eu sei que Deus determinou te destruir, porque fizeste isto, e não atentaste ao meu conselho.
17 Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face.
17 Então Amazias, rei de Judá, tomou conselho, e enviou Joás, o filho de Jeoacaz, o filho de Jeú, rei de Israel, dizendo: Vem, vejamo-nos face a face.
18 And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.
18 E Joás, o rei de Israel, mandou dizer a Amazias, o rei de Judá: O cardo que estava no Líbano mandou dizer ao cedro que estava no Líbano: Dá a tua filha como esposa para o meu filho; e ali passava um animal selvagem que estava no Líbano, e pisoteou o cardo.
19 Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thy heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldst thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldst fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
19 Tu dizes: Eis que feri os edomitas; e o teu coração exaltou-te a se gloriar; fica agora em casa; por que mexerias com a tua dor, para que caias, a saber, tu e Judá contigo?
20 But Amaziah would not hear; for it came from God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom.
20 Amazias, porém, não quis ouvir; porque era da vontade de Deus entregá-los nas mãos dos seus inimigos, porque eles foram atrás dos deuses de Edom.
21 So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they saw one another in the face, both he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
21 Assim, Joás, rei de Israel, subiu; e ele e Amazias, rei de Judá, se viram face a face, em Bete-Semes, a qual pertence a Judá.
22 And Judah was defeated before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent.
22 E Judá foi derrotado diante de Israel; e fugiram, cada homem para a sua tenda.
23 And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
23 E Joás, o rei de Israel, tomou Amazias, rei de Judá, filho de Joás, o filho de Jeoacaz, em Bete-Semes, e o trouxe até Jerusalém, e demoliu o muro de Jerusalém, desde o portão de Efraim, até o portão do canto, quatrocentos côvados.
24 And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
24 E ele tomou todo o ouro e a prata, e todos os vasos que foram achados na casa de Deus com Obede-Edom, e os tesouros da casa do rei, e também os reféns, e retornou a Samaria.
25 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, lived after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz king of Israel, fifteen years.
25 E Amazias, o filho de Joás, rei de Judá, viveu quinze anos, depois da morte de Joás, o filho de Jeoacaz, rei de Israel.
26 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?
26 Ora, o restante dos atos de Amazias, os primeiros e os últimos, não estão escritos no livro dos reis de Judá e de Israel?
27 Now after the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD, they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there.
27 Ora, desde o tempo em que Amazias se desviou de seguir o SENHOR, fizeram conspiração contra ele em Jerusalém; e ele fugiu para Laquis; mas enviaram após ele a Laquis, e lá o mataram.
28 And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
28 E o trouxeram sobre cavalos, e o sepultaram com os seus pais na cidade de Judá.
