1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
1 E Josafá, o seu filho, reinou em seu lugar, e fortaleceu-se contra Israel.
2 And he placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
2 E ele posicionou forças em todas as cidades fortificadas de Judá, e pôs guarnições na terra de Judá, e nas cidades de Efraim, que Asa, o seu pai, havia tomado.
3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not to Baalim;
3 E o SENHOR esteve com Josafá, porque ele andou nos primeiros caminhos do seu pai Davi, e não buscou aos baalins;
4 But sought to the LORD God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
4 mas buscou o SENHOR Deus do seu pai, e andou nos seus mandamentos, e não segundo as obras de Israel.
5 Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand: and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honor in abundance.
5 Por isso, o SENHOR estabeleceu o reino de Israel na sua mão; e todo o Judá trazia a Josafá presentes; e ele tinha honra e riquezas em abundância.
6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
6 E o seu coração estava exaltado nos caminhos do SENHOR; ainda mais ele removeu os lugares altos e os bosques de Judá.
7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Ben-hail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
7 Além disso, no terceiro ano do seu reinado ele enviou os seus príncipes, a saber: a Ben-Hail, e a Obadias, e a Zacarias, e a Natanael, e a Micaías; para ensinarem nas cidades de Judá.
8 And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
8 E com eles, enviou os levitas, a saber: Semaías, e Netanias, e Zebadias, e Asael, e Semiramote, e Jônatas, e Adonias, e Tobias, e Tobe-Adonias, e com estes levitas os sacerdotes, Elisama e Jeroão.
9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
9 E eles ensinaram em Judá, e tinham o livro da lei do SENHOR consigo, e iam por todas as cidades de Judá, e ensinavam ao povo.
10 And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
10 E o temor do SENHOR veio sobre todos os reinos das terras que estavam ao redor de Judá, de modo que eles não fizeram guerra contra Josafá.
11 Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he-goats.
11 Alguns dos filisteus também traziam presentes a Josafá, e prata como tributo; e os árabes traziam-lhe rebanhos, sete mil e setecentos carneiros, e sete mil e setecentos bodes.
12 And Jehoshaphat became exceedingly great; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
12 E Josafá tornou-se muitíssimo grande; e edificou fortalezas e cidades de provisões em Judá.
13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valor, were in Jerusalem.
13 E ele tinha muitos negócios nas cidades de Judá; e os homens de guerra, homens fortes e valentes, estavam em Jerusalém.
14 And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand.
14 E estes são os números deles de acordo com a casa dos seus pais: de Judá, os capitães de milhares; Adna, o chefe, e com ele trezentos mil homens fortes e valentes.
15 And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand.
15 E ao seu lado estava capitão Joanã, e com ele duzentos e oitenta mil.
16 And next to him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
16 E junto a ele estava Amasias, o filho de Zicri, que voluntariamente se ofereceu ao SENHOR; e com ele duzentos mil homens fortes e valentes.
17 And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
17 E de Benjamim; Eliada, um homem forte e valente, e com ele duzentos mil homens armados com arco e escudo.
18 And next to him was Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready prepared for the war.
18 E ao seu lado estava Jozabade, e com ele cento e oitenta mil prontamente preparados para a guerra.
19 These waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
19 Estes estavam no serviço do rei; afora os que o rei tinha posto nas cidades fortificadas por todo o Judá.
