1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
1 Não é conveniente para mim, sem dúvida, gloriar-me. Eu passarei às visões e revelações do Senhor.
2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such one caught up to the third heaven.
2 Conheço um homem em Cristo que há catorze anos (se no corpo, eu não posso dizer, ou se fora do corpo, eu não posso dizer; Deus o sabe) o tal foi arrebatado ao terceiro céu.
3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
3 E sei que o tal homem (se no corpo, se fora do corpo, eu não posso dizer; Deus o sabe),
4 That he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
4 foi arrebatado ao paraíso e ouviu palavras indescritíveis, que ao homem não é lícito proferir.
5 Of such one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in my infirmities.
5 Do tal me gloriarei; mas de mim mesmo não me gloriarei, senão nas minhas fraquezas.
6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or what he heareth from me.
6 Porque, embora desejasse gloriar-me, eu não serei um tolo, porque direi a verdade; mas agora disto me abstenho, para que nenhum homem pense de mim acima do que vê em mim, ou que ouve de mim.
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
7 E, para que eu não me exaltasse acima da medida, pela abundância das revelações, foi-me dado um espinho na carne, o mensageiro de Satanás para me esbofetear, para que eu não me exaltasse acima da medida.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
8 Por essa coisa, eu supliquei ao Senhor três vezes, para que ele se afastasse de mim.
9 And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
9 E ele disse-me: A minha graça é suficiente para ti, porque a minha força se aperfeiçoa na fraqueza. De boa vontade, pois, me gloriarei nas minhas fraquezas, para que o poder de Cristo repouse sobre mim.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
10 Portanto, eu tenho prazer nas fraquezas, nas censuras, nas necessidades, nas perseguições, nas aflições por causa de Cristo. Porque quando eu estou fraco então eu sou forte.
11 I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended by you: for in nothing am I behind the very greatest apostles, though I am nothing.
11 Tornei-me tolo em gloriar-me; vós me compelistes. Porque eu devia ter sido recomendado por vós, visto que em nada fui inferior aos muitos principais apóstolos, embora eu nada seja.
12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.
12 Verdadeiramente, os sinais de um apóstolo foram manifestos entre vós com toda a paciência, por sinais, maravilhas e poderosos feitos.
13 For what is that in which ye were inferior to other churches, except that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong.
13 Pois, em que éreis inferiores às outras igrejas, exceto que eu mesmo vos não fui um fardo? Perdoai-me este erro.
14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
14 Eis aqui, pela terceira vez, eu estou pronto a ir ter convosco, e não vos serei um fardo; porque não busco o que é vosso, mas a vós; porque os filhos não devem guardar para os pais, mas os pais para os filhos.
15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.
15 E eu muito alegremente gastarei, e me deixarei gastar por vós, se mais abundantemente vos amo, serei menos amado.
16 But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.
16 Mas seja assim; eu não vos fui um fardo, mas, sendo astuto, vos tomei com astúcia.
17 Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent to you?
17 Porventura, aproveitei-me de vós por algum daqueles que vos enviei?
18 I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps?
18 Eu exortei Tito, e com ele enviei um irmão. Porventura, Tito se aproveitou de vós? Não andamos no mesmo espírito, não andamos nos mesmos passos?
19 Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves to you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edification.
19 Novamente, pensais vós que nos desculpamos convosco? Nós falamos em Cristo perante Deus, mas fazemos todas as coisas, ó amados, para vossa edificação.
20 For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found by you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
20 Porque temo que, quando chegar, não vos acharei como eu quereria, e que não serei encontrado por vós como quereríeis; que de alguma maneira haja debates, invejas, iras, contendas, maledicências, murmúrios, inchações, tumultos;
21 And lest, when I come again, my God may humble me among you, and I shall bewail many who have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness, and lewdness, and lasciviousness, which they have committed.
21 e que, quando eu for novamente, o meu Deus me humilhe entre vós, e que eu lamente por muitos que pecaram anteriormente, e não se arrependeram da imundícia, e fornicação, e lascívia que cometeram.
