1 Now concerning the things of which ye wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
1 Quanto ao que vocês me escreveram — “é bom que o homem não toque em mulher” —,
2 Nevertheless, to avoid lewdness, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
2 digo que, por causa da imoralidade, cada homem tenha a sua esposa, e cada mulher tenha o seu próprio marido.
3 Let the husband render to the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife to the husband.
3 Que o marido conceda à esposa o que lhe é devido, e também, de igual modo, a esposa, ao seu marido.
4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
4 A esposa não tem poder sobre o seu próprio corpo, e sim o marido; e também, de igual modo, o marido não tem poder sobre o seu próprio corpo, e sim a esposa.
5 Defraud ye not one the other, except with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan may not tempt you for your incontinence.
5 Não se privem um ao outro, a não ser talvez por mútuo consentimento, por algum tempo, para se dedicarem à oração. Depois, retomem a vida conjugal, para que Satanás não tente vocês por não terem domínio próprio.
6 But I speak this by permission, and not as a commandment.
6 E digo isto como concessão e não como mandamento.
7 For I would that all men were as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift from God, one after this manner, and another after that.
7 Gostaria que todos os homens fossem como eu. No entanto, cada um tem de Deus o seu próprio dom; um, na verdade, de um modo; outro, de outro.
8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they remain even as I.
8 E aos solteiros e às viúvas, digo que lhes seria bom se permanecessem no estado em que também eu vivo.
9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
9 Mas, se não conseguem se dominar, que se casem; porque é melhor casar do que arder em desejos.
10 And to the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
10 Aos casados, ordeno, não eu, mas o Senhor, que a mulher não se separe do marido.
11 But if she shall depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
11 Mas, se ela se separar, que não se case de novo ou que se reconcilie com o seu marido. E que o marido não se divorcie da sua esposa.
12 But to the rest I speak, not the Lord, if any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she is pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
12 Aos outros, digo eu, não o Senhor: se algum irmão estiver casado com uma mulher não crente, e esta concorda em morar com ele, não se divorcie dela.
13 And the woman who hath a husband that believeth not, and if he is pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
13 E se uma mulher estiver casada com um homem não crente, e este concorda em viver com ela, que ela não se divorcie do marido.
14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.
14 Porque o marido não crente é santificado no convívio da esposa, e a esposa não crente é santificada no convívio do marido crente. Se não fosse assim, os filhos de vocês seriam impuros; porém, agora, são santos.
15 But if the unbelieving departeth, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases; but God hath called us to peace.
15 Mas, se o não crente quiser separar-se, que se separe. Em tais casos, não fica sujeito à servidão nem o irmão, nem a irmã; Deus chamou vocês para viverem em paz.
16 For how knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?
16 Pois você, ó mulher, como sabe se salvará o seu marido? Ou você, ó marido, como sabe se salvará a sua mulher?
17 But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all churches.
17 No mais, que cada um ande segundo o que o Senhor lhe concedeu, conforme Deus o chamou. É isto que ordeno em todas as igrejas.
18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not become circumcised.
18 Foi alguém chamado, estando circunciso? Não desfaça a circuncisão. Foi alguém chamado, estando incircunciso? Não se faça circuncidar.
19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.
19 A circuncisão, em si, não é nada; a incircuncisão também nada é, mas o que vale é guardar os mandamentos de Deus.
20 Let every man continue in the same calling in which he was called.
20 Cada um permaneça na vocação em que foi chamado.
21 Art thou called being a servant? care not for it; but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.
21 Você foi chamado, sendo escravo? Não se preocupe com isso. Mas, se você ainda pode tornar-se livre, aproveite a oportunidade.
22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's free-man: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.
22 Pois quem foi chamado no Senhor, sendo escravo, é liberto que pertence ao Senhor. Do mesmo modo, quem foi chamado, sendo livre, é escravo de Cristo.
23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
23 Vocês foram comprados por preço; não se tornem escravos de homens.
24 Brethren, let every man in the state in which he is called, continue in it with God.
24 Irmãos, cada um permaneça diante de Deus na condição em que foi chamado.
25 Now concerning virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment as one that hath obtained mercy from the Lord to be faithful.
25 Com respeito às virgens, não tenho mandamento do Senhor, mas dou a minha opinião, como alguém que recebeu do Senhor a misericórdia de ser fiel.
26 I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.
26 Por causa da angustiosa situação presente, penso ser bom para o homem permanecer assim como está.
27 Art thou bound to a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.
27 Você tem esposa? Não procure separar-se. Você está solteiro? Não procure esposa.
28 But if thou marry, thou hast not sinned: and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless, such will have trouble in the flesh; but I spare you.
28 Mas, se você casar, não estará pecando. E também, se a virgem se casar, não estará pecando. Ainda assim, tais pessoas sofrerão angústia na carne, e eu gostaria de poupar vocês disso.
29 But this I say, brethren, The time is short. It remaineth, that both they that have wives, be as though they had none;
29 Mas isto digo, irmãos: o tempo se abrevia. Por isso, de agora em diante, não só os casados sejam como se não fossem casados,
30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;
30 mas também os que choram, como se não chorassem; os que se alegram, como se não se alegrassem; os que compram, como se nada possuíssem;
31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it. For the fashion of this world passeth away.
31 e os que se utilizam deste mundo, como se não fizessem uso dele. Porque a aparência deste mundo passa.
32 But I would have you without anxious care. He that is unmarried, is anxious for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
32 O que eu realmente quero é que vocês fiquem livres de preocupações. Quem não é casado cuida das coisas do Senhor, de como agradar ao Senhor.
33 But he that is married, is anxious for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
33 Mas o que se casou cuida das coisas do mundo, de como agradar à esposa,
34 There is a difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman is anxious for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy, both in body and in spirit: but she that is married, is anxious for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
34 e assim está dividido. Também a mulher, tanto a viúva como a virgem, cuida das coisas do Senhor, para ser santa, assim no corpo como no espírito. Mas a mulher casada se preocupa com as coisas do mundo, de como agradar ao marido.
35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.
35 Digo isto para o próprio bem de vocês, não para impor limitações, mas tendo em vista o que é decente e para que vocês possam se consagrar ao Senhor, sem distração alguma.
36 But if any man thinketh that he behaveth himself uncomely towards his virgin, if she hath passed the flower of her age, and need so requireth, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.
36 Mas, se alguém julga que trata de modo impróprio a sua virgem, se ela tiver passado a flor da idade, e se as circunstâncias o exigem, faça o que quiser; não peca; que casem.
37 Nevertheless, he that standeth steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.
37 Contudo, aquele que está firme em seu coração e não se sente obrigado, mas tem domínio sobre a sua própria vontade e resolveu em seu coração conservar virgem a jovem, fará bem.
38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.
38 Por isso, quem casa com a sua virgem faz bem; quem não casa faz melhor.
39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband is dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
39 A mulher está ligada ao seu marido enquanto ele viver. Mas, se o marido morrer, ela fica livre para casar com quem quiser, mas somente no Senhor.
40 But she is happier if she so remain, after my judgment; and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.
40 Porém, ela será mais feliz se permanecer viúva, segundo a minha opinião; e penso que também eu tenho o Espírito de Deus.
