1 Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?
1 Por que as nações se enfurecem tanto? Por que perdem seu tempo com planos inúteis?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Yahweh, and against his anointed, [saying],
2 Os reis da terra se preparam para a batalha; os governantes conspiram juntos, contra o S e contra seu ungido.
3 Let us break apart their bonds, And cast away from us their cords.
3 “Vamos quebrar estas correntes!”, eles dizem. “Vamos nos libertar da escravidão!”
4 He who sits in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.
4 Aquele que governa nos céus ri; o Senhor zomba deles.
5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, And in his intense displeasure, he will vex them:
5 Então, em sua ira, ele os repreende e, com sua fúria, os aterroriza.
6 Yet I have set my king On Zion my holy hill.
6 Ele diz: “Estabeleci meu rei no trono em Sião, em meu santo monte”.
7 I will tell of the decree: Yahweh said to me, You are my son; This day I have begotten you.
7 O rei proclama o decreto do S enhor : “O S hoje eu o gerei.
8 Ask of me, and I will give [you] the nations for your inheritance; And for your possession, the uttermost parts of the earth.
8 Basta pedir e lhe darei as nações como herança, a terra inteira como sua propriedade.
9 You will shepherd them with a rod of iron; Like a potter's vessel, you will dash them in pieces.
9 Você as quebrará com cetro de ferro e as despedaçará como vasos de barro’”.
10 Now therefore you{+} kings, be wise; Be instructed, you{+} judges of the earth.
10 Portanto, reis, sejam prudentes! Aceitem a advertência, governantes da terra!
11 Serve Yahweh with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
11 Sirvam ao S enhor com temor, alegrem-se nele com tremor.
12 Embrace purity, or else he will be angry, and you{+} will perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.
12 Sujeitem-se ao filho, para que ele não se ire e vocês não sejam destruídos de repente, pois sua ira se acende num instante; felizes, porém, os que nele se refugiam!
