Esdras 9
Updated Bible Version (UPDV) vs NAA
1 Now when these things were done, the princes drew near to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests and the Levites, haven't separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, [doing] according to their disgusting things, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
1 Acabadas estas coisas, alguns dos chefes vieram falar comigo, dizendo: — O povo de Israel, os sacerdotes e os levitas não se separaram dos povos de outras terras e das suas abominações, isto é, dos cananeus, dos heteus, dos ferezeus, dos jebuseus, dos amonitas, dos moabitas, dos egípcios e dos amorreus.
2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the peoples of the lands: yes, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.
2 Tanto eles como os seus filhos casaram com mulheres desses povos, e assim a linhagem santa se misturou com os povos dessas terras. Os chefes e os magistrados foram os primeiros a cometer esse pecado.
3 And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my robe, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down confounded.
3 Quando ouvi isso, rasguei as minhas roupas e o meu manto, e arranquei os cabelos da cabeça e da barba, e me sentei perplexo.
4 Then were assembled to me everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the trespass of them of the captivity; and I sat confounded until the evening oblation.
4 Então se reuniram em volta de mim todos os que tremiam diante das palavras do Deus de Israel, por causa da transgressão dos que tinham voltado do cativeiro. Porém eu permaneci sentado, perplexo, até a hora do sacrifício da tarde.
5 And at the evening oblation I arose up from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe rent; and I fell on my knees, and spread out my hands to Yahweh my God;
5 Na hora do sacrifício da tarde, levantei-me da minha humilhação, com as roupas e o manto já rasgados, me pus de joelhos, estendi as mãos para o Senhor , meu Deus,
6 and I said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God; for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our guiltiness has grown up to the heavens.
6 e disse: — Meu Deus! Estou confuso e envergonhado, para levantar a ti a face, meu Deus, porque as nossas iniquidades se multiplicaram sobre a nossa cabeça, e a nossa culpa chega até os céus.
7 Since the days of our fathers we have been exceedingly guilty to this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to plunder, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
7 Desde os dias dos nossos pais até hoje, estamos em grande culpa e, por causa das nossas iniquidades, nós, os nossos reis e os nossos sacerdotes fomos entregues aos reis de outras terras, à espada, ao cativeiro, ao roubo e à vergonha, como hoje se vê.
8 And now for a little moment grace has been shown from Yahweh our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our slavery.
8 Agora, por um breve momento, se manifestou a graça do Senhor , nosso Deus, deixando que alguns escapassem, dando-nos estabilidade no seu santo lugar. Assim, iluminaste os nossos olhos, ó nosso Deus, e nos deste um pouco de vida em meio à nossa servidão.
9 For we are slaves; yet our God has not forsaken us in our slavery, but has extended loving-kindness to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
9 Porque éramos escravos, mas o nosso Deus não nos abandonou em nossa servidão. Pelo contrário, estendeu sobre nós a sua misericórdia, e achamos favor diante dos reis da Pérsia, para revivermos, para levantarmos o templo do nosso Deus, para restaurarmos as suas ruínas e para nos dar um muro de segurança em Judá e em Jerusalém.
10 And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken your commandments,
10 — Agora, ó nosso Deus, que diremos depois disto? Pois deixamos os teus mandamentos,
11 which you have commanded by your slaves the prophets, saying, The land, to which you{+} go to possess it, is an unclean land through the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, through their disgusting behaviors, which have filled it from one end to another with their filthiness:
11 que ordenaste por meio dos teus servos, os profetas, dizendo: “A terra em que vocês estão entrando, para dela tomar posse, é terra impura por causa da impureza dos seus povos, por causa das coisas abomináveis com que, na sua corrupção, eles encheram a terra de uma extremidade à outra.
12 now therefore do not give your{+} daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters to your{+} sons, nor seek their peace or their prosperity forever; that you{+} may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your{+} sons forever.
12 Por isso, não deem as suas filhas em casamento aos filhos deles, nem escolham para os seus filhos mulheres do meio das filhas deles. Jamais procurem a paz e o bem desses povos, para que vocês sejam fortes e comam o melhor da terra, e a deixem como herança aos filhos de vocês, para sempre.”
13 And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great guilt, seeing that you our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such a remnant,
13 Depois de tudo o que nos aconteceu por causa das nossas más obras e da nossa grande culpa, e vendo ainda que tu, ó nosso Deus, nos tens castigado menos do que merecem as nossas iniquidades, e ainda nos deste este restante que escapou,
14 shall we again break your commandments, and join in affinity with the peoples who do these disgusting things? Wouldn't you be angry with us until you had consumed us, so that there should be no remnant, nor any to escape?
14 será que poderíamos voltar a transgredir os teus mandamentos e nos unir em casamento com os povos que praticam essas abominações? Não te indignarias contra nós, ao ponto de nos destruíres completamente, sem que houvesse nenhum remanescente nem alguém que escapasse?
15 O Yahweh, the God of Israel, you are righteous; for we are left a remnant that has escaped, as it is this day: look, we are before you in our guiltiness; for none can stand before you because of this.
15 Ó Senhor , Deus de Israel, tu és justo, pois somos o restante que escapou, como hoje se vê. Eis que estamos diante de ti com a nossa culpa, porque não há ninguém que possa estar na tua presença por causa disto.
