1 In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah began to reign.
1 No segundo ano de Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, rei de Israel, começou a reinar Amazias, filho de Joás, rei de Judá.
2 He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.
2 Tinha vinte e cinco anos quando começou a reinar e vinte e nove reinou em Jerusalém. Era o nome de sua mãe Jeoadã, de Jerusalém.
3 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done.
3 Fez ele o que era reto perante o Senhor , ainda que não como Davi, seu pai; fez, porém, segundo tudo o que fizera Joás, seu pai.
4 Nevertheless the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
4 Tão somente os altos não se tiraram; o povo ainda sacrificava e queimava incenso nos altos.
5 And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he slew his slaves who had slain the king his father:
5 Uma vez confirmado o reino em sua mão, matou os seus servos que tinham assassinado o rei, seu pai.
6 but the sons of the murderers he did not put to death; according to that which is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying, The fathers will not be put to death for the sons, nor the sons be put to death for the fathers; but every man will die for his own sin.
6 Porém os filhos dos assassinos não matou, segundo está escrito no Livro da Lei de Moisés, no qual o Senhor deu ordem, dizendo: Os pais não serão mortos por causa dos filhos, nem os filhos por causa dos pais; cada qual será morto pelo seu próprio pecado.
7 He slew of Edom in the Valley of Salt ten thousand, and took Sela by war, and called the name of it Joktheel, to this day.
7 Ele feriu dez mil edomitas no vale do Sal e tomou a Sela na guerra; e chamou o seu nome Jocteel, até ao dia de hoje.
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
8 Então, Amazias enviou mensageiros a Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, filho de Jeú, rei de Israel, dizendo: Vem, meçamos armas.
9 And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son as wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.
9 Porém Jeoás, rei de Israel, respondeu a Amazias, rei de Judá: O cardo que está no Líbano mandou dizer ao cedro que lá está: Dá tua filha por mulher a meu filho; mas os animais do campo, que estavam no Líbano, passaram e pisaram o cardo.
10 You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up: glory of it, and remain at home; for why should you meddle to [your] hurt, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?
10 Na verdade, feriste os edomitas, e o teu coração se ensoberbeceu; gloria-te disso e fica em casa; por que provocarias o mal para caíres tu, e Judá, contigo?
11 But Amaziah would not hear. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
11 Mas Amazias não quis atendê-lo. Subiu, então, Jeoás, rei de Israel, e Amazias, rei de Judá, e mediram armas em Bete-Semes, que está em Judá.
12 And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.
12 Judá foi derrotado diante de Israel, e fugiu cada um para sua casa.
13 And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
13 Jeoás, rei de Israel, prendeu Amazias, rei de Judá, filho de Joás, filho de Acazias, em Bete-Semes; e veio a Jerusalém, cujo muro ele rompeu desde a Porta de Efraim até à Porta da Esquina, quatrocentos côvados.
14 And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
14 Tomou todo o ouro, e a prata, e todos os utensílios que se acharam na Casa do Senhor e nos tesouros da casa do rei, como também reféns; e voltou para Samaria.
15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
15 Ora, os mais atos de Jeoás, o que fez, o seu poder e como pelejou contra Amazias, rei de Judá, porventura, não estão escritos no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel?
16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
16 Descansou Jeoás com seus pais e foi sepultado em Samaria, junto aos reis de Israel; e Jeroboão, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
17 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.
17 Amazias, filho de Joás, rei de Judá, viveu quinze anos depois da morte de Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, rei de Israel.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
18 Ora, os mais atos de Amazias, porventura, não estão escritos no Livro da História dos Reis de Judá?
19 And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
19 Conspiraram contra ele em Jerusalém, e ele fugiu para Laquis; porém enviaram após ele homens até Laquis; e o mataram ali.
20 And they brought him on horses; and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
20 Trouxeram-no sobre cavalos e o sepultaram em Jerusalém, junto a seus pais, na Cidade de Davi.
21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.
21 Todo o povo de Judá tomou a Uzias, que era de dezesseis anos, e o constituiu rei em lugar de Amazias, seu pai.
22 He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
22 Ele edificou a Elate e a restituiu a Judá, depois que o rei descansou com seus pais.
23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, [and reigned] forty and one years.
23 No décimo quinto ano de Amazias, filho de Joás, rei de Judá, começou a reinar em Samaria Jeroboão, filho de Jeoás, rei de Israel; e reinou quarenta e um anos.
24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: he did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.
24 Fez o que era mau perante o Senhor ; jamais se apartou de nenhum dos pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, que fez pecar a Israel.
25 He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath to the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of Yahweh, the God of Israel, which he spoke by his slave Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gath-hepher.
25 Restabeleceu ele os limites de Israel, desde a entrada de Hamate até ao mar da Planície, segundo a palavra do Senhor , Deus de Israel, a qual falara por intermédio de seu servo Jonas, filho de Amitai, o profeta, o qual era de Gate-Hefer.
26 For Yahweh saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter; for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel.
26 Porque viu o Senhor que a aflição de Israel era mui amarga, porque não havia nem escravo, nem livre, nem quem socorresse a Israel.
27 And Yahweh didn't say that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
27 Ainda não falara o Senhor em apagar o nome de Israel de debaixo do céu; porém os livrou por intermédio de Jeroboão, filho de Jeoás.
28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, [which had belonged] to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
28 Quanto aos mais atos de Jeroboão, tudo quanto fez, o seu poder, como pelejou e como reconquistou Damasco e Hamate, pertencentes a Judá, para Israel, porventura, não estão escritos no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel?
29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.
29 Descansou Jeroboão com seus pais, com os reis de Israel; e Zacarias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
