1 Samuel 8

1 And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.
1 E sucedeu que, quando Samuel ficou velho, ele fez dos seus filhos juízes sobre Israel.
2 Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abijah: they were judges in Beer-sheba.
2 Ora, o nome do seu primogênito era Joel; e o nome do seu segundo, Abias; eles eram juízes em Berseba.
3 And his sons didn't walk in his ways, but turned aside after greed for monetary gain, and took bribes, and perverted justice.
3 E os seus filhos não andaram nos seus caminhos, mas se desviaram atrás da ganância, e receberam subornos, e perverteram o juízo.
4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel to Ramah;
4 Então, todos os anciãos de Israel se reuniram, e vieram a Samuel até Ramá,
5 and they said to him, Look, you are old, and your sons don't walk in your ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
5 e lhe disseram: Eis que és velho e os teus filhos não andam nos teus caminhos; agora, prepara-nos um rei para nos julgar, como todas as nações.
6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed to Yahweh.
6 Mas aquilo desagradou Samuel, quando eles disseram: Dá-nos um rei para nos julgar. E Samuel orou ao SENHOR.
7 And Yahweh said to Samuel, Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they haven't rejected you, but they have rejected me, that I should not be king over them.
7 E o SENHOR disse a Samuel: Atenta à voz do povo em tudo o que te dizem; pois não rejeitaram a ti, mas rejeitaram a mim, para que eu não reine sobre eles.
8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, in that they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so they also do to you.
8 De acordo com todas as obras que eles fizeram desde o dia que os tirei do Egito até este dia, com as quais eles abandonaram e serviram a outros deuses, assim também fazem a ti.
9 Now therefore listen to their voice: nevertheless you will protest solemnly to them, and will show them the manner of the king who will reign over them.
9 Agora, portanto, atenta à sua voz; todavia, mesmo assim, protesta solenemente diante deles, e mostra-lhes a conduta do rei que reinará sobre eles.
10 And Samuel told all the words of Yahweh to the people who asked of him a king.
10 E Samuel disse todas as palavras do SENHOR ao povo que lhe pedia um rei.
11 And he said, This will be the manner of the king who will reign over you{+}: he will take your{+} sons, and appoint them to him, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and they will run before his chariots;
11 E ele disse: Esta será a conduta do rei que reinará sobre vós: Ele tomará os vossos filhos, e os indicará para si mesmo, para as suas carruagens, e para serem os seus cavaleiros; e alguns correrão adiante das suas carruagens.
12 and he will appoint them to himself for captains of thousands, and captains of fifties; and [he will set some] to plow his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and the instruments of his chariots.
12 E ele indicará para si mesmo capitães sobre milhares, e capitães sobre cinquenta; e os porá para cultivar o seu solo, e ceifar a sua colheita, e para fazer os seus instrumentos de guerra, e instrumentos das suas carruagens.
13 And he will take your{+} daughters to be perfumers, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
13 E ele tomará as vossas filhas para serem confeiteiras, e para serem cozinheiras, e para serem padeiras.
14 And he will take your{+} fields, and your{+} vineyards, and your{+} oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his slaves.
14 E ele tomará os vossos campos, e os vossos vinhedos, e os vossos olivais, até o melhor deles, e os dará aos seus servos.
15 And he will take the tenth of your{+} seed, and of your{+} vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his slaves.
15 E ele tomará o dízimo da vossa semente, e dos vossos vinhedos, e o dará aos seus oficiais, e aos seus servos.
16 And he will take your{+} male slaves, and your{+} female slaves, and your{+} goodliest young men, and your{+} donkeys, and put them to his work.
16 E ele tomará os vossos servos, e as vossas servas, e os vossos melhores jovens, e os vossos jumentos, e os porá ao seu trabalho.
17 He will take the tenth of your{+} flocks: and you{+} will be his slaves.
17 Ele tomará o dízimo das vossas ovelhas; e vós sereis seus servos.
18 And you{+} will cry out in that day because of your{+} king whom you{+} will have chosen you{+}; and Yahweh will not answer you{+} in that day.
18 E, naquele dia, clamareis por causa do vosso rei o qual escolhestes para vós; e o SENHOR não vos ouvirá naquele dia.
19 But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel; and they said, No: but we will have a king over us,
19 Todavia, o povo se recusava a obedecer a voz de Samuel; e dizia: Não, mas teremos um rei sobre nós;
20 that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.
20 para que nós também possamos ser como todas as nações; e para que o nosso rei possa nos julgar, e sair adiante de nós, e lutar nas nossas batalhas.
21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of Yahweh.
21 E Samuel ouviu todas as palavras do povo, e ele as relatou aos ouvidos do SENHOR.
22 And Yahweh said to Samuel, Listen to their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said to the men of Israel, Go{+} every man to his city.
22 E o SENHOR disse a Samuel: Atenta para a voz deles, e prepara-lhes um rei. E Samuel disse aos homens de Israel: Ide vós, cada qual, à sua cidade.
