¹ But Job answered and said,

¹ Jó, porém, respondeu, dizendo:

² How have you helped him that is without power? how save you the arm that has no strength?

² Como ajudaste aquele que não tinha força, e sustentaste o braço que não tinha vigor?

³ How have you counselled him that has no wisdom? and how have you plentifully declared the thing as it is?

³ Como aconselhaste aquele que não tinha sabedoria, e plenamente fizeste saber a causa, assim como era?

⁴ To whom have you uttered words? and whose spirit came from you?

⁴ A quem proferiste palavras, e de quem é o espírito que saiu de ti?

⁵ Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.

⁵ Os mortos tremem debaixo das águas, com os seus moradores.

⁶ Hell is naked before him, and destruction has no covering.

⁶ O inferno está nu perante ele, e não há coberta para a perdição.

⁷ He stretches out the north over the empty place, and hangs the earth upon nothing.

⁷ O norte estende sobre o vazio; e suspende a terra sobre o nada.

⁸ He binds up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

⁸ Prende as águas nas suas nuvens, todavia a nuvem não se rasga debaixo delas.

⁹ He holds back the face of his throne, and spreads his cloud upon it.

⁹ Encobre a face do seu trono, e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.

¹⁰ He has compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

¹¹ The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

¹² He divides the sea with his power, and by his understanding he strikes through the proud.

¹³ By his spirit he has garnished the heavens; his hand has formed the crooked serpent.

¹³ Pelo seu Espírito ornou os céus; a sua mão formou a serpente enroscadiça.

¹⁴ Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

¹⁴ Eis que isto são apenas as orlas dos seus caminhos; e quão pouco é o que temos ouvido dele! Quem, pois, entenderia o trovão do seu poder?
