1 And God sayd vnto Iacob aryse ad get the vp to Bethell and dwell there. And make there an aulter vnto God that apeared vnto the when thou fleddest from Esau thy brother.
1 Deus disse a Jacó: — Apronte-se, vá para Betel e fique morando lá. Em Betel construa um altar e o dedique a mim, o Deus que lhe apareceu quando você estava fugindo do seu irmão Esaú.
2 Than sayd Iacob vnto his housholde and to all yt were with him put away the strauge goddes that are amonge you and make youre selues cleane and chaunge youre garmetes
2 Então Jacó disse à sua família e a todos os que estavam com ele: — Joguem fora todas as imagens dos deuses estrangeiros que vocês têm.
3 and let vs aryse and goo vp to Bethell yt I maye make an aulter there vnto God which herde me in the daye of my tribulatio and was wyth me in the waye which I went.
3 Aprontem-se, que nós vamos para Betel. Ali vou fazer um altar dedicado ao Deus que me ajudou no tempo da minha aflição e que tem estado comigo em todos os lugares por onde tenho andado.
4 And they gaue vnto Iacob all the straunge goddes which were vnder their handes ad all their earynges which were in their eares and Iacob hyd them vnder an ooke at Sichem.
4 Eles entregaram as imagens dos deuses estrangeiros que tinham e os brincos que usavam nas orelhas. E Jacó enterrou tudo debaixo da árvore sagrada que fica perto de Siquém.
5 And they departed. And the feare of God fell vpon the cyties that were rounde aboute them that they durst not folowe after the sonnes of Iacob.
5 Quando eles foram embora, Deus fez com que os moradores das cidades vizinhas ficassem com um medo terrível, e por isso eles não perseguiram Jacó.
6 So came Iacob to Lus in the lande of Canaan otherwise called Bethell with all the people that was with him.
6 Assim, Jacó e toda a sua gente chegaram a Luz, cidade que também é conhecida pelo nome de Betel e que fica na terra de Canaã.
7 And he buylded there an aulter and called the place Elbethell: because that God appered vnto him there when he fled from his brother.
7 Ali ele construiu um altar e pôs naquele lugar o nome de “O Deus de Betel” porque ali Deus havia aparecido a ele, quando estava fugindo do seu irmão.
8 Than dyed Deborr Rebeccas norse and was buryed benethe Bethell vnder an ooke. And the name of it was called the ooke of lamentation.
8 Naquele lugar morreu Débora, a mulher que havia sido babá de Rebeca. Ela foi sepultada debaixo da árvore sagrada que fica ao sul de Betel. E puseram naquele lugar o nome de “Árvore Sagrada das Lágrimas”.
9 And God appeared vnto Iacob agayne after he came out of Mesopotamia and blessed him
9 Quando Jacó voltou da Mesopotâmia, Deus lhe apareceu outra vez e o abençoou,
10 and sayde vnto him: thy name is Iacob. Notwithstondynge thou shalt be nomore called Iacob but Israel shalbe thy name. And so was his name called Israell.
10 dizendo: “Você se chama Jacó, porém esse não será mais o seu nome; agora o seu nome será Israel.” Assim, Deus pôs nele o nome de Israel.
11 And God sayde vnto him: I am God allmightie growe and multiplye: for people and a multitude of people shall sprynge of the yee ad kynges shall come out of they loynes.
11 E disse também: “Eu sou o Deus Todo-Poderoso. Tenha muitos filhos e muitos descendentes. Uma nação e muitos povos sairão de você, e entre os seus descendentes haverá reis.
12 And the lande which I gaue Abraha and Isaac will I geue vnto the and vnto thi seed after the will I geue it also.
12 A terra que dei a Abraão e a Isaque darei também a você e depois a darei aos seus descendentes.”
13 And god departed fro him in the place where he talked with him.
13 Quando acabou de falar com Jacó, Deus subiu e foi embora daquele lugar.
14 And Iacob set vp a marke in the place where he talked with him: euen a pilloure of stone and powred drynkeoffringe theron and powred also oyle theron
14 Então Jacó pegou uma pedra e a colocou como pilar no lugar onde Deus havia falado com ele. Ele a separou para Deus, derramando vinho e azeite em cima.
15 and called the name of the place where God spake with him Bethell.
15 E pôs naquele lugar o nome de Betel.
16 And they departed from Bethel and when he was but a feld brede from Ephrath Rahel began to trauell. And in travelynge she was in perell.
16 Jacó e a sua família saíram de Betel; e, quando estavam chegando perto de Efrata, Raquel começou a sentir dores de parto. E o parto foi difícil.
17 And as she was in paynes of hir laboure the mydwyfe sayde vnto her: feare not for thou shalt haue this sonne also.
17 Quando as dores estavam no ponto mais forte, a parteira disse: — Não tenha medo; você vai ter outro filho homem.
18 Then as hir soule was a departinge that she must dye: she called his name Ben Oni. But his father called him Ben Iamin.
18 Porém ela estava morrendo. E, antes de dar o último suspiro, chamou o menino de Benoni . Mas o pai pôs nele o nome de Benjamim .
19 And thus dyed Rahel ad was buryed in the waye to Ephrath which now is called Bethlehem.
19 Assim, Raquel morreu e foi sepultada na beira do caminho de Efrata, que agora se chama Belém.
20 And Iacob sett vp a piller apon hir graue which is called Rahels graue piller vnto this daye.
20 Jacó pôs sobre a sepultura uma pedra como pilar, e ela marca o lugar da sepultura até hoje .
21 And Israell went thece and pitched vp his tent beyonde the toure of Eder.
21 Depois Jacó saiu dali e armou o seu acampamento do outro lado da torre de Éder.
22 And it chaunced as Israel dwelt in that lande that Ruben went and laye with Bilha his fathers concubyne and it came to Israels eare. The sonnes of Iacob were .xij. in nombre.
22 Um dia, quando Jacó estava morando naquele lugar, o seu filho Rúben teve relações com Bila, que era concubina de Jacó. Quando ele soube disso, ficou furioso. Os filhos de Jacó eram doze.
23 The sonnes of Lea. Ruben Iacobs eldest sonne and Simeo Leui Iuda Isachar and Zabulon
23 Os que teve com Leia foram Rúben (o filho mais velho de Jacó), Simeão, Levi, Judá, Issacar e Zebulom.
24 The sonnes of Rahel: Ioseph and Ben Iamin.
24 Com Raquel ele teve José e Benjamim.
25 The sonnes of Bilha Rahels mayde: Dan and Nepthali.
25 Com Bila, a escrava de Raquel, ele teve Dã e Naftali.
26 The sonnes of Zilpha Leas mayde Gad and Aser. Thes are the sones of Iacob which were borne him in Mesopotamia.
26 Com Zilpa, a escrava de Leia, ele teve Gade e Aser. Esses filhos de Jacó nasceram na Mesopotâmia.
27 Then Iacob went vnto Isaac his father to Mamre a pricipall cyte otherwise called Hebron: where Abraha and Isaac sogeorned as straungers.
27 Jacó foi morar com Isaque, o seu pai, em Manre, a cidade que também se chama Arba e que fica perto de Hebrom, onde Abraão e Isaque haviam morado.
28 And the dayes of Isaac were an hundred and .lxxx. yeres:
28 Aos cento e oitenta anos de idade,
29 and than fell he seke and dyed ad was put vnto his people: beynge olde and full of dayes. And his sonnes Esau ad Iacob buried him.
29 quando já era muito velho, Isaque morreu, indo reunir-se assim com os seus antepassados no mundo dos mortos . E os seus filhos Esaú e Jacó o sepultaram.
