1 And the LORde apeared vnto him in the okegrove of Mamre as he sat in his tent doze in the heate of the daye.
1 O Senhor Deus apareceu a Abraão no bosque sagrado de Manre. Era a hora mais quente do dia, e Abraão estava sentado na entrada da sua barraca.
2 And he lyfte vp his eyes and looked: ad lo thre men stode not farr from hym. And whe he sawe them he ran agenst them from the tent dore and fell to the grounde
2 Ele olhou para cima e viu três homens, de pé na sua frente. Quando os viu, correu ao encontro deles. Ajoelhou-se, encostou o rosto no chão
3 and sayde: LORde yf I haue founde fauoure in thy syght goo not by thi seruaunte.
3 e disse: — Senhores, se eu mereço a sua atenção, não passem pela minha humilde casa sem me fazerem uma visita.
4 Let a litle water be fett and wash youre fete and rest youre selves vnder the tree:
4 Vou mandar trazer água para lavarem os pés, e depois os senhores descansarão aqui debaixo da árvore.
5 And I will fett a morsell of breed to comforte youre hartes wythall. And tha goo youre wayes for even therfore ar ye come to youre servaunte. And they answered: Do even so as thou hast sayde.
5 Também vou trazer um pouco de comida, e assim terão forças para continuar a viagem. Os senhores me honraram com a sua visita; portanto, deixem que eu os sirva. Eles responderam: — Está bem, nós aceitamos.
6 And Abraha went a pace in to his tent vnto Sara ad sayde: make redy att once thre peckes of fyne meale kneade it and make cakes.
6 Abraão correu para dentro da barraca e disse a Sara: — Depressa! Pegue uns dez quilos de farinha e faça pão.
7 And Abraham ran vnto his beastes and fett a calfe that was tendre and good and gaue it vnto a yonge man which made it redy attonce.
7 Em seguida ele correu até onde estava o gado, escolheu um bom bezerro novo e o entregou a um dos empregados, que o preparou para ser comido.
8 And he toke butter and mylcke and the calfe which he had prepared and sett it before them and stode hymselfe by them vnder the tree: and they ate.
8 Abraão pegou coalhada, leite e a carne preparada e pôs tudo diante dos visitantes. Ali, debaixo da árvore, ele mesmo serviu a comida e ficou olhando.
9 And they sayde vnto him: Where is Sara thy wife? And he sayde: in the tent.
9 Então eles perguntaram: — Onde está Sara, a sua mulher? — Está na barraca — respondeu Abraão.
10 And he sayde: I will come agayne vnto the as soone as the frute can lyue. And loo: Sara thy wife shall haue a sonne. That herde Sara out of the tent doore which was behind his backe.
10 Um deles disse: — No ano que vem eu virei visitá-lo outra vez. E nessa época Sara, a sua mulher, terá um filho. Sara estava atrás dele, na entrada da barraca, escutando a conversa.
11 Abraham and Sara were both olde and well stryken in age and it ceased to be with Sara after the maner as it is wyth wyves.
11 Abraão e Sara eram muito velhos, e Sara já havia passado da idade de ter filhos.
12 And Sara laughed in hir selfe saynge: Now I am waxed olde shall I geue my selfe to lust and my lorde olde also?
12 Por isso riu por dentro e pensou assim: — Como poderei ter prazer sexual agora que eu e o meu senhor estamos velhos?
13 Than sayd the LORde vnto Abraha: wherfore doth Sara laughe saynge: shal I of a suertie bere a childe now when I am olde?
13 Então o Senhor perguntou a Abraão: — Por que Sara riu? Por que disse que está velha demais para ter um filho?
14 is the thinge to harde for the LORde to do? In the tyme appoynted will I returne vnto the as soone as the frute can haue lyfe And Sara shall haue a sonne.
14 Será que para o Senhor há alguma coisa impossível? Pois, como eu disse, no ano que vem virei visitá-lo outra vez. E nessa época Sara terá um filho.
15 Than Sara denyed it saynge: I laughed not for she was afrayde. But he sayde: yes thou laughtest.
15 Ao escutar isso, Sara ficou com medo e quis negar. — Eu não estava rindo — disse ela. Mas o — Não é verdade; você riu mesmo.
16 Than the men stode vp from thence ad loked towarde Sodome. And Abraham went with them to brynge them on the waye.
16 Depois os visitantes se levantaram e foram para um lugar de onde podiam ver a cidade de Sodoma. E Abraão os acompanhou para lhes mostrar o caminho.
17 And the LORde sayde: Can I hyde from Abraham that thinge which I am aboute to do
17 Aí o Senhor Deus disse a si mesmo: “Não vou esconder de Abraão o que pretendo fazer.
18 seynge that Abraham shall be a great ad a myghtie people and all the nations of the erth shalbe blessed in him?
18 Os seus descendentes se tornarão uma nação grande e poderosa, e por meio dele eu abençoarei todas as nações da terra.
19 For I knowe him that he will commaunde his childern and his housholde after him yt they kepe the waye of the LORde to do after righte and conscyence that the LORde may brynge vppon Abraham that he hath promysed him.
19 Eu o escolhi para que ele mande que os seus filhos e os seus descendentes obedeçam aos meus ensinamentos e façam o que é correto e justo. Se eles obedecerem, farei por Abraão tudo o que prometi.”
20 And the LORde sayde? The crie of Sodome and Gomorra is great and there synne is excedynge grevous.
20 Aí o Senhor disse a Abraão: — Há terríveis acusações contra Sodoma e Gomorra, e o pecado dos seus moradores é muito grave.
21 I will go downe and see whether they haue done all to gedder acordynge to that crye which is come vnto me or not that I may knowe.
21 Preciso descer até lá para ver se as acusações que tenho ouvido são verdadeiras ou não.
22 And the me departed thece and went to Sodomeward. But Abraham stode yet before ye LORde
22 Então dois dos visitantes saíram, indo na direção de Sodoma; porém Abraão ficou ali com Deus, o Senhor .
23 and drewe nere and saydeWylt thou destroy the rightwes with the wyked?
23 Abraão chegou um pouco mais perto e perguntou: — Será que vais destruir os bons junto com os maus?
24 Yf there be .l. rightwes within the cyte wilt thou destroy it and not spare the place for the sake of .l. rightwes that are therin?
24 Talvez haja cinquenta pessoas direitas na cidade. Nesse caso, vais destruir a cidade? Será que não a perdoarias por amor aos cinquenta bons?
25 That be farre from the that thou shuldest do after thys maner to sley the rightwes with the weked ad that the rightwes shulde be as the weked: that befarre from the. Shulde not the iudge of all ye worlde do acordynge to righte?
25 Não é possível que mates os bons junto com os maus, como se todos tivessem cometido os mesmos pecados. Não faças isso! Tu és o juiz do mundo inteiro e por isso agirás com justiça.
26 And the LORde sayde: Yf I fynde in Sodome .l. rightwes within the cyte I will spare all the place for their sakes.
26 O Senhor Deus respondeu: — Se eu achar cinquenta pessoas direitas em Sodoma, perdoarei a cidade inteira por causa delas.
27 And Abraham answered and sayde: beholde I haue taken vppon me to speake vnto ye LORde ad yet am but dust ad asshes.
27 Abraão voltou a dizer: — Perdoa o meu atrevimento de continuar falando contigo, pois tu és o Senhor, e eu sou um simples mortal.
28 What though there lacke .v. of .l. rightwes wylt thou destroy all the cyte for lacke of .v? And he sayde: Yf I fynde there .xl. and .v. I will not destroy them.
28 Pode acontecer que haja apenas quarenta e cinco pessoas direitas. Destruirás a cidade por causa dessa diferença de cinco? Deus respondeu: — Se eu achar quarenta e cinco, não destruirei a cidade.
29 And he spake vnto him yet agayne and sayde: what yf there be .xl. foude there: And he sayde: I wyll not do it for forties sake.
29 Abraão continuou: — E se houver somente quarenta bons? — Por amor a esses quarenta, não destruirei a cidade — Deus respondeu.
30 And he sayde: O let not my LORde be angrye that I speake. What yf there be foude .xxx. there? And he sayde: I will not do it yf I finde .xxx. there.
30 Abraão disse: — Não fiques zangado comigo, Senhor, por eu continuar a falar. E se houver só trinta? Deus respondeu: — Se houver trinta, eu perdoarei a cidade.
31 And be sayde: Oh se I haue begonne to speake vnto my LORde what yf there be .xx. founde there? And he sayde: I will not distroy the for tweties sake.
31 Abraão tornou a insistir: — Estou sendo atrevido, mas me perdoa, Senhor. E se houver somente vinte? — Por amor a esses vinte, não destruirei a cidade — Deus respondeu.
32 And he sayde: O let not my LORde be angrye that I speake yet but eue once more only. What yf ten be founde there?. And he sayde: I will not destroy the for .x. sake.
32 Finalmente Abraão disse: — Não fiques zangado, Senhor, pois esta é a última vez que vou falar. E se houver só dez? — Por causa desses dez, não destruirei a cidade — Deus respondeu.
33 And the LORde wet his waye as soone as he had lefte comenynge with Abraha. And Abraham returned vnto his place
33 Quando o Senhor Deus acabou de falar com Abraão, ele foi embora, e Abraão voltou para casa.
