1 Then we turned and went vpp the waye to Basan. And Og the kinge of Basan came out agenst vs. both he and all his people to batayle at Edrey.
1 “Em seguida, voltamos e nos dirigimos à terra de Basã, onde o rei Ogue e todo o seu exército nos atacaram em Edrei.
2 And the Lorde sayed vnto me: feare him not, for I haue delyuered him and all his people ad his lande in to thy hande ad thou shalt deale with hi as thou dealest with Sihon kynge of the Amorites which dwelt at Hesbon.
2 Mas o S enhor me disse: ‘Não tenha medo, pois eu lhe dei vitória sobre Ogue e todo o seu exército, e lhe darei toda a terra dele. Trate-o como você tratou Seom, rei dos amorreus, que vivia em Hesbom’.
3 And so the Lorde oure God delyuered in to oure handes, Og also the kinge off Basan and al his folke, And we smote him vntyll noughte was left him.
3 “Então o S enhor , nosso Deus, entregou em nossas mãos o rei Ogue e todo o seu povo. Nós os aniquilamos, de modo que não restaram sobreviventes.
4 And we toke all his cities the same ceason (for there was not a citie whiche we toke not from them) euen .iij. score cities, all the region of Argob, the kyngdome of Og in Basan.
4 Conquistamos todas as sessenta cidades deles, a região inteira de Argobe, no reino de Basã. Não deixamos de tomar uma cidade sequer.
5 All these cities were made stronge with hye walles, gates and barres, besyde vnwalled townes a greate maynye.
5 Eram todas fortificadas com muralhas altas e portões com trancas. Na mesma ocasião, também conquistamos muitos outros povoados sem muros.
6 And we vtterly destroyed them, as we played with Sihon kynge off Hesbon: bringing to nought al the cities with men, wemen and childern.
6 Destruímos completamente o reino de Ogue, como havíamos destruído Seom, rei de Hesbom. Exterminamos todo o povo das cidades que conquistamos, tanto homens como mulheres e crianças.
7 But all the catell and the spoyle of the cities, we caughte for oure selues.
7 Ficamos, porém, com todos os animais e levamos os despojos das cidades.
8 And thus we toke the same ceason, the lode out of the hande of two kynges of the Amorites on the other syde Iordayne, from the ryuer of Arnon vnto mount Hermon
8 “Assim, tomamos o território dos dois reis amorreus a leste do rio Jordão, desde o vale de Arnom até o monte Hermom.
9 (which Hermon the Sidons call Sirion, but the Amorites call it Senyr)
9 (Os sidônios chamam o monte Hermom de Siriom, enquanto os amorreus o chamam de Senir.)
10 all the cities in the playne ad all Gilead and all Basan vnto Salcha and Edrei, cities of the kingdome of Og in Basan.
10 A essa altura, havíamos conquistado todas as cidades do planalto e todo o território de Gileade e Basã, até as cidades de Salcá e Edrei, que faziam parte do reino de Ogue, em Basã.”
11 For only Og kynge of Basan remayned of the remnaut of the geauntes: beholde, his yernen bed is yet at Rabath amonge the childern off Ammo .ix. cubettes longe ad, .iiij. cubetes brode, of the cubettes of a man.
11 (O rei Ogue de Basã foi o último sobrevivente dos refains. Sua cama era feita de ferro e media mais de quatro metros de comprimento e quase dois metros de largura. Ainda hoje é possível vê-la na cidade amonita de Rabá.)
12 And when we had conquered this londe the same tyme, I gaue from Aroer which is apon the riuer of Arnon, and halfe mount Gilead and the cities thereof vnto the Rubenites, and Gadites.
12 “Quando tomamos posse da terra, dei às tribos de Rúben e Gade o território para além de Aroer, ao longo do vale de Arnom, e também metade do território de Gileade com suas cidades.
13 And the rest of Gilead and all Basan the kingdome of Og, I gaue vnto the halfe trybe of Manasse: all the regio of Argob with all Basan was called the londe of geauntes.
13 Depois, entreguei o restante de Gileade e toda a Basã, o antigo reino de Ogue, à meia tribo de Manassés. (Toda essa região de Argobe, em Basã, era conhecida como a terra dos refains.
14 Iair the sonne of Manasse toke all the region of Argob vnto the costes of Gesuri ad Maachati, and called the townes of Basan after his owne name: the townes of Iair vnto thys daye.
14 Jair, um dos descendentes da tribo de Manassés, conquistou toda a região de Argobe, em Basã, até a fronteira com os gesuritas e maacatitas. Jair deu à região seu próprio nome, Cidades de Jair, pelo qual ela é conhecida até hoje.)
15 And I gaue half Gilead vnto Machir.
15 Dei Gileade ao clã de Maquir,
16 And vnto Ruben ad Gad, I gaue from Gilead vnto the ryuer of Arnon ad half the valey ad the coste, eue vnto the ryuer Iabock which is the border of the childern of Ammon,
16 mas também dei parte de Gileade às tribos de Rúben e Gade. A região que lhes entreguei se estende desde a metade do vale de Arnom, ao sul, até o rio Jaboque, na fronteira amonita.
17 and the feldes ad Iordayne with the coste, from Cenereth even vnto the see in the felde which is the salt see vnder the sprynges off Pisga eastwarde.
17 Eles também receberam o vale do Jordão, desde o mar da Galileia até o mar Morto, tendo o Jordão como limite a oeste e, a leste, as encostas do monte Pisga.
18 And I commaunded you the same tyme (ye Ruben ad Gad) sayeng: the Lorde your God hath geuen you this londe to enioye it: se that ye go harnessed before youre brethern the childern of Israel, all that are me of warre amonge you.
18 “Naquela ocasião, dei a seguinte ordem às tribos que habitariam a leste do Jordão: ‘Embora o S enhor , seu Deus, lhes tenha dado esta terra como propriedade, todos os seus homens aptos à guerra devem atravessar o Jordão à frente de seus parentes israelitas, armados e prontos para ajudá-los.
19 Youre wyues only youre childern ad youre catell (for I wote that ye haue moch catell) shall abyde in youre cities which I haue geuen you,
19 Suas esposas, filhos e rebanhos numerosos ficarão nas cidades que já lhes dei.
20 vntyll the Lorde haue geue rest vnto your brethern as well as vnto you, and vntyll they also haue conquered the londe which the Lorde youre God hath geuen them beyonde Iordayne: and then returne agayne euery ma vnto his possession which I haue geue you.
20 Quando o S enhor tiver dado segurança aos demais israelitas, como deu a vocês, e quando eles tiverem tomado posse da terra que o S enhor , seu Deus, lhes dá do outro lado do Jordão, então vocês poderão voltar para esta terra que lhes dei’.”
21 And I warned Iosua the same tyme sayeng thyne eyes haue sene all that the Lorde youre God hath done vnto these two kynges, eue so the Lorde will doo vnto all kyngdomes whither thou goest.
21 “Naquela ocasião, dei a Josué a seguinte ordem: ‘Você viu com os próprios olhos tudo que o S enhor , seu Deus, fez a esses dois reis. Ele fará o mesmo a todos os reinos do lado oeste do Jordão.
22 Feare them not, for the Lorde youre God he it is that fighteth for you.
22 Não tenham medo dessas nações, pois o S enhor , seu Deus, lutará por vocês’.
23 And I besoughte the Lorde the same tyme sayenge:
23 “Também naquela ocasião, supliquei ao S enhor :
24 O lorde Iehoua, thou hast begonne to shewe thy servaunte thy greatnesse and thy mightie hande for there is no God in heauen nor in erth that can do after thy workes and after thy power:
24 ‘Ó S enhor Soberano, tu apenas começaste a mostrar a este teu servo a tua grandeza e a força da tua mão. Existe algum deus no céu ou na terra capaz de realizar obras tão grandiosas e poderosas como as que tu realizas?
25 let me goo ouer ad se the good londe that is beyonde Iordayne, that goodly hye contre and Libanon.
25 Por favor, peço que me deixes atravessar o Jordão para ver a boa terra do outro lado do rio, a bela região montanhosa e o Líbano’.
26 But the Lorde was angrie with me for youre sakes and wolde not heare me, but sayed vnto me, be content, and speake henceforth no moare vnto me of this matter,
26 “Mas o S enhor estava irado comigo por causa de vocês e não me atendeu. ‘Basta!’, declarou ele. ‘Não toque mais nesse assunto.
27 Get the vp in to the toppe of Pisga ad lifte vpp thine eyes west, north, south ad easte, ad beholde it with thyne eyes for thou shalt not goo ouer this Iordayne.
27 Suba ao topo do monte Pisga e contemple a terra em todas as direções. Olhe bem, pois você não atravessará o Jordão.
28 Moreouer, charge Iosua and corage him and bolde him. For he shall go ouer before his people, and he shall deuyde the londe which thou shalt se vnto them.
28 Encarregue Josué dessa tarefa, encoraje-o e fortaleça-o, pois ele conduzirá o povo para o outro lado do Jordão. Ele lhes dará como herança toda a terra que você está vendo.’
29 And so we abode in the valaye besyde Beth Peor.
29 Assim, ficamos no vale junto a Bete-Peor.”
