1 Then cam certayne from Iewrie and taught the brethren: excepte ye be circumcysed after the maner of Moses ye cannot be saved.
1 Alguns homens foram da região da Judeia para a cidade de Antioquia e começaram a ensinar aos irmãos que eles não poderiam ser salvos se não fossem circuncidados , como manda a Lei de Moisés.
2 And when ther was rysen dissencion and disputinge not a litle vnto Paul and Barnabas agaynst them. They determined that Paul and Barnabas and certayne other of them shuld ascende to Ierusalem vnto the Apostles and elders aboute this question.
2 Paulo e Barnabé não concordaram e tiveram uma discussão muito forte com eles a respeito disso. Aí foi resolvido que Paulo e Barnabé e mais alguns irmãos fossem para Jerusalém, a fim de estudar esse assunto com os apóstolos e os presbíteros da igreja.
3 And after they were brought on their waye by the congregacion they passed over Phenices and Samaria declarynge the conuersion of the getyls and they brought great ioye vnto all ye brethren.
3 Então a igreja de Antioquia mandou que eles fossem. Eles passaram pelas regiões da Fenícia e da Samaria, contando como os não judeus estavam se convertendo a Deus. E todos os irmãos ficaram muito alegres com essa notícia.
4 And when they were come to Ierusalem they were receaved of the congregacion and of the Apostles and elders. And they declared what thinges God had done by them.
4 Quando chegaram a Jerusalém, foram recebidos pela igreja, pelos apóstolos e pelos presbíteros e lhes contaram tudo o que Deus havia feito por meio deles.
5 Then arose ther vp certayne that were of the secte of the Pharises and dyd beleve sayinge that it was nedfull to circucise them and to enioyne the to kepe ye lawe of Moses.
5 Mas alguns membros do partido dos fariseus que também haviam crido se levantaram e disseram: — Os não judeus têm de ser circuncidados e têm de obedecer à Lei de Moisés.
6 And ye Apostles and elders came to geder to reason of this matter.
6 Então os apóstolos e os presbíteros se reuniram para estudar o assunto.
7 And when ther was moche disputinge Peter rose vp and sayde vnto them: Ye men and brethren ye knowe how that a good whyle agoo God chose amoge vs that the getyls by my mouth shuld heare the worde of the gospell and beleve.
7 Depois de muita discussão, Pedro se levantou e disse: — Meus irmãos, vocês sabem que há muito tempo Deus me escolheu entre vocês para anunciar o
8 And God which knoweth the herte bare them witnes and gave vnto them the holy goost eve as he dyd vnto vs
8 E Deus, que conhece o coração de todos, mostrou que aceita os não judeus, pois deu o Espírito Santo também a eles, assim como tinha dado a nós.
9 and he put no difference bitwene them and vs but with fayth purified their hertes.
9 Deus não fez nenhuma diferença entre nós e eles; ele perdoou os pecados deles porque eles creram.
10 Now therfore why tempte ye God that ye wolde put a yoke on the disciples neckes which nether oure fathers nor we were able to beare.
10 Então por que é que vocês estão querendo pôr Deus à prova, colocando uma carga nas costas dos que agora estão crendo? E essa carga nem nós nem os nossos antepassados pudemos carregar.
11 But we beleve that thorowe the grace of the Lorde Iesu Christ we shalbe saved as they doo.
11 Pelo contrário, por meio da graça do Senhor Jesus, nós, judeus, cremos e somos salvos do mesmo modo que os não judeus.
12 Then all the multitude was peased and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul which tolde what signes and wondres God had shewed amonge the gentyls by them.
12 Então todos os que estavam ali ficaram calados e escutaram Barnabé e Paulo contarem todos os milagres e maravilhas que Deus tinha feito por meio deles entre os não judeus.
13 And when they helde their peace Iames answered sayinge: Men and brethren herken vnto me.
13 Quando eles terminaram de falar, Tiago disse: — Meus irmãos, escutem!
14 Simeon tolde how God at the begynnynge dyd visit the gentyls and receaved of them people vnto his name.
14 Simão acabou de explicar como Deus primeiro mostrou o seu cuidado pelos não judeus, escolhendo do meio deles um povo que seria dele.
15 And to this agreith ye wordes of ye Prophetes as it is written.
15 As palavras dos profetas estão bem de acordo com isso, pois as Escrituras Sagradas dizem:
16 After this I will returne and wyll bylde agayne the tabernacle of David which is fallen doune and that which is fallen in dekey of it will I bilde agayne and I will set it vp
16 “Depois disso eu voltarei — diz o Senhor — e construirei de novo o reino de Davi, que é como uma casa que caiu. Juntarei de novo os pedaços dela e tornarei a levantá-la.
17 that the residue of men might seke after the Lorde and also the gentyls vpo whom my name is named saith ye Lorde which doth all these thinges:
17 Assim todas as outras pessoas, todos os outros povos que eu chamei para serem meus, vão procurar conhecer o Senhor. Assim diz o Senhor,
18 knowne vnto God are all his workes from the begynninge of the worlde.
18 que anunciou essas coisas desde os tempos antigos.”
19 Wherfore my sentece is yt we trouble not them which fro amonge the gentyls are turned to God:
19 E Tiago continuou: — A minha opinião é esta: eu acho que não devemos atrapalhar os não judeus que estão se convertendo a Deus.
20 but yt we write vnto them yt they abstayne them selves fro filthynes of ymages fro fornicacio from straglyd and fro bloude.
20 Penso que devemos escrever a eles uma carta, dizendo que não comam a carne de animais que foram oferecidos em sacrifício aos ídolos, que não pratiquem imoralidade sexual, que não comam a carne de nenhum animal que tenha sido estrangulado e que não comam sangue.
21 For Moses of olde tyme hath in every cite that preache him and he is rede in the synagoges every saboth daye.
21 Pois, desde os tempos antigos, a Lei de Moisés tem sido lida todos os sábados nas sinagogas , e as suas palavras são anunciadas em todas as cidades.
22 Then pleased it the Apostles and elders wt the whole congregacio to sende chosyn men of their owne copany to Antioche with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Iudas called also Barsabas and Silas which were chefe men amonge the brethre
22 Então os apóstolos e os presbíteros , com o apoio de toda a igreja, resolveram escolher entre eles alguns homens e mandá-los para Antioquia com Paulo e Barnabé. Os escolhidos foram Judas, chamado Barsabás, e Silas. Esses dois homens eram muito respeitados pelos membros da igreja.
23 and gave them lettres in their hondes after this maner. The Apostles elders and brethren send gretynges vnto the brethre which are of the gentyls in Antioche Siria and Celicia.
23 E mandaram por eles a seguinte carta: “Nós, os apóstolos e os presbíteros, irmãos de vocês, mandamos saudações aos nossos irmãos não judeus que vivem em Antioquia e na
24 For as moche as we have hearde yt certayne which departed fro vs have troubled you with wordes and combred youre myndes sayinge: Ye must be circumcised and kepe the lawe to whom we gave no soche comaundemet.
24 “Soubemos que alguns do nosso grupo foram até aí e disseram coisas que criaram problemas para vocês. Porém não foi com a nossa autorização que eles fizeram isso.
25 It semed therfore to vs a good thinge when we were come to gedder with one accorde to sende chosyn men vnto you with oure beloved Barnabas and Paul
25 Portanto, nós todos resolvemos, sem nenhum voto contra, escolher alguns homens e mandá-los a vocês. Eles vão com os nossos queridos irmãos Barnabé e Paulo,
26 men that have ieoperded their lyves for the name of oure Lorde Iesus Christ.
26 que têm arriscado a sua vida a serviço do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
27 We have sent therfore Iudas and Sylas which shall also tell you the same thinges by mouth.
27 Estamos enviando, então, Judas e Silas para falarem pessoalmente com vocês sobre estas coisas que estamos escrevendo.
28 For it semed good to the holy gost and to vs to put no grevous thinge to you more then these necessary thinges:
28 Porque o Espírito Santo e nós mesmos resolvemos não pôr nenhuma carga sobre vocês, a não ser estas proibições que são, de fato, necessárias:
29 that is to saye that ye abstayne from thinges offered to ymages from bloud from strangled and fornicacion. From which yf ye kepe youre selves ye shall do well. So fare ye well.
29 não comam a carne de nenhum animal que tenha sido oferecido em sacrifício aos ídolos; não comam o sangue nem a carne de nenhum animal que tenha sido estrangulado; e não pratiquem imoralidade sexual. Vocês agirão muito bem se não fizerem essas coisas. Saúde a todos!”
30 When they were departed they came to Antioche and gaddred the multitude togeder and delyvered ye pistle.
30 Então mandaram que os quatro partissem, e eles foram para Antioquia. Lá reuniram os cristãos e entregaram a carta.
31 When they had redde it they reioysed of that consolacion.
31 Quando estes a leram, ficaram muito alegres com as palavras de ânimo que havia nela.
32 And Iudas and Sylas beinge prophetes exhorted the brethren with moche preachynge and strengthed them.
32 Judas e Silas, que eram profetas , falaram muito com os irmãos, dando-lhes assim ânimo e força.
33 And after they had taryed there a space they were let goo in peace of the brethren vnto the Apostles.
33 Eles passaram algum tempo ali, e depois os irmãos, fazendo votos de boa viagem, os mandaram de volta para aqueles que os tinham enviado.
34 Not with stondynge it pleasyd Sylas to abyde there still.
34 [Porém Silas achou melhor ficar ali.]
35 Paul and Barnabas continued in Antioche teachynge and preachynge the worde of the Lorde with other many.
35 Mas Paulo e Barnabé ficaram algum tempo em Antioquia. Eles e muitos outros cristãos ensinavam e anunciavam a palavra do Senhor. A segunda viagem missionária de Paulo
36 But after a certayne space Paul sayde vnto Barnabas: Let vs goo agayne and visite oure brethren in every cite where we have shewed the worde of the Lorde and se how they do.
36 Algum tempo depois, Paulo disse a Barnabé: — Vamos voltar e visitar os irmãos em todas as cidades onde já anunciamos a palavra do Senhor. Vamos ver se eles estão bem.
37 And Barnabas gave counsell to take wt them Iohn called also Marke.
37 Barnabé queria levar João Marcos.
38 But Paul thought it not mete to take him vnto their company whiche departed from them at Pamphylia and went not with them to the worke.
38 Porém Paulo não queria, pois Marcos não tinha ficado com eles até o fim da primeira viagem missionária, mas os havia deixado na província da Panfília.
39 And the dissencion was so sharpe bitwene them that they departed a sunder one from the other: so that Barnabas toke Marke and sayled vnto Cypers.
39 Por isso eles tiveram uma discussão tão forte, que se separaram. Barnabé levou João Marcos consigo e embarcou para a ilha de Chipre,
40 And Paul chose Sylas and departed delyvered of ye brethren vnto the grace of god.
40 enquanto que Paulo escolheu Silas e seguiu viagem, depois que os irmãos o entregaram aos cuidados do Senhor.
41 And he went thorowe all Cyria and Cilicia stablisshynge the congregacions.
41 E Paulo atravessou a província da Síria e a região da Cilícia, dando força às igrejas.
