1 Simon Peter a seruaunt and an Apostle of Iesus Christ to them which have obtayned lyke precious fayth with vs in the rightewesnes that commeth of oure God and savioure Iesus Christ.
1 Simão Pedro, servo e apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, aos que conosco alcançaram fé igualmente preciosa na justiça do nosso Deus e Salvador Jesus Cristo:
2 Grace with you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Iesus oure Lorde.
2 Graça e paz vos sejam multiplicadas no pleno conhecimento de Deus e de Jesus nosso Senhor;
3 Accordinge as his godly power hath geven vnto vs all thinges that pertayne vnto lyfe and godlynes thorow the knowledge of him that hath called vs by vertue and glory
3 visto como o seu divino poder nos tem dado tudo o que diz respeito à vida e à piedade, pelo pleno conhecimento daquele que nos chamou por sua própria glória e virtude;
4 by the meanes whereof are geven vnto vs excellent and moste greate promises that by the helpe of them ye shuld be partakers of the godly nature in that ye flye the corrupcion of worldy lust.
4 pelas quais ele nos tem dado as suas preciosas e grandíssimas promessas, para que por elas vos torneis participantes da natureza divina, havendo escapado da corrupção, que pela concupiscência há no mundo.
5 And hervnto geve all diligence: in youre fayth minister vertve and in vertue knowledge
5 E por isso mesmo vós, empregando toda a diligência, acrescentai à vossa fé a virtude, e à virtude a ciência,
6 and in knowledge temperancy and in temrancy pacience in pacience godlynes
6 e à ciência o domínio próprio, e ao domínio próprio a perseverança, e à perseverança a piedade,
7 in godlynes brotherly kyndnes in brotherly kyndnes love.
7 e à piedade a fraternidade, e à fraternidade o amor.
8 For yf these thinges be amonge you and are plenteous they wyll make you that ye nether shalbe ydle nor vnfrutefull in the knowledge of oure lorde Iesus Christ.
8 Porque, se em vós houver e abundarem estas coisas, elas não vos deixarão ociosos nem infrutíferos no pleno conhecimento de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
9 But he yt lacketh these thynges is blynde and gropeth for ye waye with his honde and hath forgotten yt he was pourged from his olde synnes.
9 Pois aquele em quem não há estas coisas é cego, vendo somente o que está perto, havendo-se esquecido da purificação dos seus antigos pecados.
10 Wherfore brethren geve the moare diligence forto make youre callynge and eleccion sure. For yf ye do soche thynges ye shall never erre.
10 Portanto, irmãos, procurai mais diligentemente fazer firme a vossa vocação e eleição; porque, fazendo isto, nunca jamais tropeçareis.
11 Ye and by this meanes an entrynge in shall be ministred vnto you aboundantly in to the everlastynge kyngdome of oure lorde and saveoure Iesus Christ.
11 Porque assim vos será amplamente concedida a entrada no reino eterno do nosso Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo.
12 Wherfore I will not be necgligent to put you allwayes in remembraunce of soche thinges though that ye knowe them youre selves and be also stablisshed in the present trueth.
12 Pelo que estarei sempre pronto para vos lembrar estas coisas, ainda que as saibais, e estejais confirmados na verdade que já está convosco.
13 Notwithstodinge I thynke yt mete (as longe as I am in this tabernacle) to stere you vp by puttynge you in remebraunce
13 E tendo por justo, enquanto ainda estou neste tabernáculo, despertar-vos com admoestações,
14 for as moch as I am sure howe that the tyme is at honde yt I must put of my tabernacle even as oure lorde Iesus Christ hath shewed me.
14 sabendo que brevemente hei de deixar este meu tabernáculo, assim como nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo já mo revelou.
15 I will enfource therfore that on every syde ye myght have wherwith to stere vp the remembraunce of these thynges after my departynge.
15 Mas procurarei diligentemente que também em toda ocasião depois da minha morte tenhais lembrança destas coisas.
16 For we folowed not decevable fables whe we openned vnto you the power and commynge of oure lorde Iesus Christ but with oure eyes we sawe his maieste:
16 Porque não seguimos fábulas engenhosas quando vos fizemos conhecer o poder e a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, pois nós fôramos testemunhas oculares da sua majestade.
17 even then verely when he receaved of god the father honour and glory and when ther came soche a voyce to him from excellent glorie. This is my dere beloved sonne in whom I have delite.
17 Porquanto ele recebeu de Deus Pai honra e glória, quando pela Glória Magnífica lhe foi dirigida a seguinte voz: Este é o meu Filho amado, em quem me comprazo;
18 This voyce we hearde when it came from heven beynge with him in the holy mounte.
18 e essa voz, dirigida do céu, ouvimo-la nós mesmos, estando com ele no monte santo.
19 We have also a right sure worde of prophesye wher vnto yf ye take hede as vnto a lyght yt shyneth in a darke place ye do wel vntill the daye dawne and the daye starre aryse in youre hertes.
19 E temos ainda mais firme a palavra profética à qual bem fazeis em estar atentos, como a uma candeia que alumia em lugar escuro, até que o dia amanheça e a estrela da alva surja em vossos corações;
20 So that ye fyrst knowe this. that no prophesye in the scripture hath eny private interpretacio.
20 sabendo primeiramente isto: que nenhuma profecia da Escritura é de particular interpretação.
21 For the scripture came never by the will of man: but holy men of god spake as they were moved by the holy goost.
21 Porque a profecia nunca foi produzida por vontade dos homens, mas os homens da parte de Deus falaram movidos pelo Espírito Santo.
