Twenty: Twentieth Century New Testament (SM_TWENTY) vs NTLH
1 One Sabbath Jesus was walking through cornfields, and his disciples were picking the ears of wheat, and rubbing them in their hands, and eating them.
1 Num sábado, Jesus estava atravessando uma plantação de trigo. Os seus discípulos começaram a colher e a debulhar espigas, e a comer os grãos de trigo.
2 “Why are you doing what it is not allowable to do on the Sabbath?” asked some of the Pharisees.
2 Então alguns fariseus perguntaram: — Por que é que vocês estão fazendo uma coisa que a nossa
3 Jesus’ answer was: “Have not you read even of what David did, when he was hungry, he and his companions —
3 Jesus respondeu:
4 That he went into the House of God, and took the consecrated bread and ate it, and gave some to his companions, though only the priests are allowed to eat it?”
4 Ele entrou na casa de Deus, pegou os pães oferecidos a Deus, comeu e deu também aos seus companheiros. No entanto é contra a nossa Lei alguém comer desses pães; somente os sacerdotes têm o direito de fazer isso.
5 Then Jesus added: “The Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”
5 E Jesus terminou, dizendo:
6 On another Sabbath Jesus went into the Synagogue and taught; and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.
6 Num outro sábado Jesus entrou na sinagoga e começou a ensinar. Estava ali um homem que tinha a mão direita aleijada.
7 The Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees watched Jesus closely, to see if he would work cures on the Sabbath, so that they might find a charge to bring against him.
7 Alguns mestres da Lei e alguns fariseus ficaram espiando Jesus com atenção para ver se ele ia curar alguém no sábado. Pois queriam arranjar algum motivo para o acusar de desobedecer à Lei .
8 Jesus, however, knew what was in the their minds, and said to the man whose hand was withered: “Stand up and come out into the middle.” The man stood up;
8 Mas Jesus conhecia os pensamentos deles e por isso disse para o homem que tinha a mão aleijada: O homem se levantou e ficou em pé.
9 and Jesus said to them: “I ask you, is it allowable to do good on the Sabbath — or harm? to save a life, or let it perish?”
9 Então Jesus disse:
10 Then, looking round at them all, he said to the man: “Stretch out your hand.” The man did so; and his hand had become sound.
10 Jesus olhou para todos os que estavam em volta dele e disse para o homem: O homem estendeu a mão, e ela sarou.
11 But the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees were goaded to madness, and consulted together what they could do to Jesus.
11 Aí os mestres da Lei e os fariseus ficaram furiosos e começaram a conversar sobre o que poderiam fazer contra Jesus.
12 Now about that time, Jesus went out, up the hill, to pray, and spent the whole night in prayer to God.
12 Naquela ocasião Jesus subiu um monte para orar e passou a noite orando a Deus.
13 When day came, he summoned his disciples, and chose twelve of them, whom he also named ‘Apostles.’
13 Quando amanheceu, chamou os seus discípulos e escolheu doze deles. E deu o nome de apóstolos a estes doze:
14 They were Simon (whom Jesus also named Peter), and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,
14 Simão, em quem pôs o nome de Pedro, e o seu irmão André; Tiago e João; Filipe e Bartolomeu;
15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon known as the Zealot,
15 Mateus e Tomé; Tiago, filho de Alfeu; Simão, o nacionalista;
16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who proved a traitor.
16 Judas, filho de Tiago; e Judas Iscariotes, que foi o traidor.
17 Afterwards Jesus came down the hill with them and took his stand on a level place. With him were a large crowd of his disciples, and great numbers of people from the whole of Judea, Jerusalem, and the coast district of Tyre and Sidon,
17 Jesus desceu do monte com eles e parou com muitos dos seus seguidores num lugar plano. Uma grande multidão estava ali. Era gente de toda a Judeia, de Jerusalém e das cidades de Tiro e Sidom , que ficam na beira do mar.
18 who had come to hear him and to be restored to health. Those, too, who were troubled with foul spirits were cured;
18 Eles tinham vindo para ouvir Jesus e para serem curados das suas doenças. Os que estavam atormentados por espíritos maus também vieram e foram curados.
19 and every one in the crowd was trying to touch him, because a power went out from him which restored them all.
19 Todos queriam tocar em Jesus porque dele saía um poder que curava todas as pessoas.
20 Then, raising his eyes and looking at his disciples, Jesus spoke as follows: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the Kingdom of God.
20 Jesus olhou para os seus discípulos e disse:
21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
21 — Felizes são vocês que agora têm fome,
22 Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they expel you from among them, and taunt you, and reject your Name as an evil thing — on account of the Son of Man.
22 — Felizes são vocês quando os odiarem, rejeitarem, insultarem e disserem que vocês são maus por serem seguidores do
23 Then indeed you may be glad and dance for joy, for be sure that your reward in Heaven will be great; for that is what their ancestors did to the Prophets.
23 Fiquem felizes e muito alegres quando isso acontecer, pois uma grande recompensa está guardada no céu para vocês. Pois os antepassados dessas pessoas fizeram essas mesmas coisas com os
24 But ‘alas for you who are rich,’ for you have had your comforts in full.
24 — Mas ai de vocês que agora são ricos,
25 Alas for you who are sated now, for you will hunger. Alas for you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
25 — Ai de vocês que agora têm tudo,
26 Alas for you when all men speak well of you; for this is what their ancestors did to the false Prophets.
26 — Ai de vocês quando todos os elogiarem, pois os antepassados dessas pessoas também elogiaram os falsos profetas.
27 But to you who hear I say — Love your enemies, show kindness to those who hate you,
27 — Mas eu digo a vocês que estão me ouvindo: amem os seus inimigos e façam o bem para os que odeiam vocês.
28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who insult you.
28 Desejem o bem para aqueles que os amaldiçoam e orem em favor daqueles que maltratam vocês.
29 When a man gives one of you a blow on the cheek, offer the other cheek as well; and, when any one takes away your cloak, do not keep back your coat either.
29 Se alguém lhe der um tapa na cara, vire o outro lado para ele bater também. Se alguém tomar a sua
30 Give to every one who asks of you; and, when any one takes away what is yours, do not demand its return.
30 Dê sempre a qualquer um que lhe pedir alguma coisa; e, quando alguém tirar o que é seu, não peça de volta.
31 Do to others as you wish them to do to you.
31 Façam aos outros a mesma coisa que querem que eles façam a vocês.
32 If you love only those who love you, what thanks will be due to you? Why, even the outcast love those who love them!
32 — Se vocês amam somente aqueles que os amam, o que é que estão fazendo de mais? Até as pessoas de má fama amam as pessoas que as amam.
33 For, if you show kindness only to those who show kindness to you, what thanks will be due to you? Even the outcast do that!
33 E, se vocês fazem o bem somente para aqueles que lhes fazem o bem, o que é que estão fazendo de mais? Até as pessoas de má fama fazem isso.
34 If you lend only to those from whom you expect to get something, what thanks will be due to you? Even the outcast lend to the outcast in the hope of getting as much in return!
34 E, se vocês emprestam somente para aqueles que vocês acham que vão lhes pagar, o que é que estão fazendo de mais? Até as pessoas de má fama emprestam aos que têm má fama, para receber de volta o que emprestaram.
35 But love your enemies, and show them kindness, and lend to them, never despairing. Then your reward shall be great, and you shall be Sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the thankless and the bad.
35 Façam o contrário: amem os seus inimigos e façam o bem para eles. Emprestem e não esperem receber de volta o que emprestaram e assim vocês terão uma grande recompensa e serão filhos do Deus Altíssimo. Façam isso porque ele é bom também para os ingratos e maus.
36 Learn to be merciful — even as your Father is merciful.
36 Tenham misericórdia dos outros, assim como o Pai de vocês tem misericórdia de vocês.
37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
37 — Não julguem os outros, e Deus não julgará vocês. Não condenem os outros, e Deus não condenará vocês. Perdoem os outros, e Deus perdoará vocês.
38 Give, and others will give to you. A generous measure, pressed and shaken down, and running over, will they pour into your lap; For the measure that you mete will be meted out to you in return.”
38 Deem aos outros, e Deus dará a vocês. Ele será generoso, e as bênçãos que ele lhes dará serão tantas, que vocês não poderão segurá-las nas suas mãos. A mesma medida que vocês usarem para medir os outros Deus usará para medir vocês.
39 Then, speaking in parables, Jesus said: “Can one blind man guide another? Will they not both fall into a ditch?
39 E Jesus fez estas comparações:
40 A scholar is not above his teacher; yet every finished scholar shall be like his teacher.
40 Nenhum aluno é mais importante do que o seu professor. Porém, quando tiver terminado os estudos, o aluno ficará igual ao seu professor.
41 And why do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye, while you pay no attention at all to the beam in your own?
41 — Por que é que você vê o cisco que está no olho do seu irmão e não repara na trave de madeira que está no seu próprio olho?
42 How can you say to your brother ‘Brother, let me take out the straw in your eye,’ while you yourself do not see the beam in your own? Hypocrite! Take out the beam from your own eye first, and then you will see clearly how to take out the straw in your brother’s.
42 Como é que você pode dizer ao seu irmão: “Me deixe tirar esse cisco do seu olho”, se você não repara na trave que está no seu próprio olho? Hipócrita! Tire primeiro a trave que está no seu olho e então poderá ver bem para tirar o cisco que está no olho do seu irmão.
43 There is no such thing as a good tree bearing worthless fruit, or, on the other hand, a worthless tree bearing good fruit.
43 — A árvore boa não dá frutas ruins, assim como a árvore que não presta não dá frutas boas.
44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. People do not gather figs off thorn bushes, nor pick a bunch of grapes off a bramble.
44 Pois cada árvore é conhecida pelas frutas que ela produz. Não é possível colher figos de espinheiros, nem colher uvas de pés de urtiga.
45 A good man, from the good stores of his heart, brings out what is good; while a bad man, from his bad stores, brings out what is bad. For what fills a man’s heart will rise to his lips.
45 A pessoa boa tira o bem do depósito de coisas boas que tem no seu coração. E a pessoa má tira o mal do seu depósito de coisas más. Pois a boca fala do que o coração está cheio.
46 Why do you call me ‘Master! Master!’ and yet fail to do what I tell you?
46 — Por que vocês me chamam “Senhor, Senhor” e não fazem o que eu digo?
47 Every one who comes to me and listens to my teaching and acts upon it — I will show you to whom he may be compared.
47 Eu vou mostrar a vocês com quem se parece a pessoa que vem e ouve a minha mensagem e é obediente a ela.
48 He may be compared to a man building a house, who dug, and went deep, and laid the foundation upon the rock. Then, when a flood came, the river swept down upon that house, but had no power to shake it, because it had been built well.
48 Essa pessoa é como um homem que, quando construiu uma casa, cavou bem fundo e pôs o alicerce na rocha. O rio ficou cheio, e as suas águas bateram contra aquela casa; porém ela não se abalou porque havia sido bem-construída.
49 But those who have listened and not acted upon what they have heard may be compared to a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation. The river swept down upon it, and the house immediately collapsed; and great was the crash that followed.”
49 Mas quem ouve a minha mensagem e não é obediente a ela é como o homem que construiu uma casa na terra, sem alicerce. Quando a água bateu contra aquela casa, ela caiu logo e ficou totalmente destruída.
