1 And the feast of the unleavened bread, which is called a Passover, was drawing near.
1 Estava próxima a Festa dos Pães Asmos, chamada Páscoa.
2 And the High-priests and the Scribes were seeking, how they might get rid of him; for they feared the people.
2 Preocupavam-se os principais sacerdotes e os escribas em como tirar a vida a Jesus; porque temiam o povo.
3 But Satan entered into Judas, him called Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve;
3 Ora, Satanás entrou em Judas, chamado Iscariotes, que era um dos doze.
4 and, departing, he conversed with the High-priests and Captains, as to how, unto them, he might deliver him up.
4 Este foi entender-se com os principais sacerdotes e os capitães sobre como lhes entregaria a Jesus;
5 And they rejoiced, and bargained with him to give him, silver;
5 então, eles se alegraram e combinaram em lhe dar dinheiro.
6 and he freely consented, and began seeking a good opportunity for delivering him up, in the absence of a multitude, unto them.
6 Judas concordou e buscava uma boa ocasião de lho entregar sem tumulto.
7 Now the day of the unleavened bread a came,—on which it was needful to be sacrificing the passover.
7 Chegou o dia da Festa dos Pães Asmos, em que importava comemorar a Páscoa.
8 And he sent forth Peter and John, saying—Go, and make ready, for us, the passover, that we may eat.
8 Jesus, pois, enviou Pedro e João, dizendo: Ide preparar-nos a Páscoa para que a comamos.
9 And, they, said unto him—Where wiliest thou, we should make ready?
9 Eles lhe perguntaram: Onde queres que a preparemos?
10 And, he, said unto them—Lo! when ye have entered into the city, there will meet you a man, bearing, an earthen-jar of water: follow him into the house into which he is entering.
10 Então, lhes explicou Jesus: Ao entrardes na cidade, encontrareis um homem com um cântaro de água; segui-o até à casa em que ele entrar
11 And ye shall say unto the master of the house—The teacher saith unto thee, where is the lodging, where, the passover, with my disciples, I may eat?
11 e dizei ao dono da casa: O Mestre manda perguntar-te: Onde é o aposento no qual hei de comer a Páscoa com os meus discípulos?
12 And, he, unto you, will shew, a large upper room, spread: there, make ready.
12 Ele vos mostrará um espaçoso cenáculo mobilado; ali fazei os preparativos.
13 And, departing, they found according as he had said unto them, and made ready the passover.
13 E, indo, tudo encontraram como Jesus lhes dissera e prepararam a Páscoa.
14 And, when the hour arrived, he reclined, and the apostles with him.
14 Chegada a hora, pôs-se Jesus à mesa, e com ele os apóstolos.
15 And he said unto them—I have greatly desired, to eat, this passover, with you before I suffer;
15 E disse-lhes: Tenho desejado ansiosamente comer convosco esta Páscoa, antes do meu sofrimento.
16 For, I say unto you—In nowise shall I eat it, until it have been fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
16 Pois vos digo que nunca mais a comerei, até que ela se cumpra no reino de Deus.
17 And, accepting a cup, giving thanks, he said—Take this, and divide among yourselves;
17 E, tomando um cálice, havendo dado graças, disse: Recebei e reparti entre vós;
18 For, I say unto you—In nowise shall I drink henceforth of the fruit of the vine, until, the kingdom of God, shall come.
18 pois vos digo que, de agora em diante, não mais beberei do fruto da videira, até que venha o reino de Deus.
19 And, taking a loaf, he gave thanks, and brake, and gave unto them, saying—This is my body [[which in your behalf is being given: this, be ye doing, in remembrance, of me.
19 E, tomando um pão, tendo dado graças, o partiu e lhes deu, dizendo: Isto é o meu corpo oferecido por vós; fazei isto em memória de mim.
20 And—the cup, in like manner, after the taking of supper, saying—This cup, is the new covenant in my blood, which, in your behalf, is to be poured out.]]
20 Semelhantemente, depois de cear, tomou o cálice, dizendo: Este é o cálice da nova aliança no meu sangue derramado em favor de vós.
21 Nevertheless, lo! the hand of him who is delivering me up, is with me upon the table.
21 Todavia, a mão do traidor está comigo à mesa.
22 Because, the Son of Man, indeed, according to what is marked out, goeth his way; nevertheless, alas! for that man through whom he is being delivered up.
22 Porque o Filho do Homem, na verdade, vai segundo o que está determinado, mas ai daquele por intermédio de quem ele está sendo traído!
23 And, they, began to be enquiring together, among themselves, as to which, then, it could be, from among them, who, this thing, was about to perpetrate!
23 Então, começaram a indagar entre si quem seria, dentre eles, o que estava para fazer isto.
24 And it came to pass that there was, a rivalry also, among them, as to which of them seemed to be greater [than the rest] .
24 Suscitaram também entre si uma discussão sobre qual deles parecia ser o maior.
25 And, he, said unto them—The kings of the nations, lord it over them, and, they who wield authority over them, benefactors, are called.
25 Mas Jesus lhes disse: Os reis dos povos dominam sobre eles, e os que exercem autoridade são chamados benfeitores.
26 But, ye, not so! On the contrary—the greater among you, Let him become as, the younger, and, he that governeth, as, he that ministereth,
26 Mas vós não sois assim; pelo contrário, o maior entre vós seja como o menor; e aquele que dirige seja como o que serve.
27 For which is greater—he that reclineth? or he that ministereth? Is not he that reclineth? But, I, am, in your midst, as he that ministereth,
27 Pois qual é maior: quem está à mesa ou quem serve? Porventura, não é quem está à mesa? Pois, no meio de vós, eu sou como quem serve.
28 Ye, however, are they who have remained throughout with me in my temptations;
28 Vós sois os que tendes permanecido comigo nas minhas tentações.
29 And, I, covenant unto you—as my Father hath covenanted unto me—a kingdom,
29 Assim como meu Pai me confiou um reino, eu vo-lo confio,
30 That ye may eat and drink, at my table, in my kingdom, and sit upon thrones, judging, the twelve tribes of Israel.
30 para que comais e bebais à minha mesa no meu reino; e vos assentareis em tronos para julgar as doze tribos de Israel.
31 Simon! Simon! lo! Satan, hath claimed you, to sift as wheat;
31 Simão, Simão, eis que Satanás vos reclamou para vos peneirar como trigo!
32 But, I, have entreated for thee, that thy faith may not fail. And, thou, once thou hast turned, strengthen thy brethren.
32 Eu, porém, roguei por ti, para que a tua fé não desfaleça; tu, pois, quando te converteres, fortalece os teus irmãos.
33 But, he, said unto him—Lord! with thee, am I, ready, both into prison and unto death, to be going.
33 Ele, porém, respondeu: Senhor, estou pronto a ir contigo, tanto para a prisão como para a morte.
34 And, he, said: I tell thee, Peter—A cock will not crow this day, until, thrice, thou deny that thou knowest me.
34 Mas Jesus lhe disse: Afirmo-te, Pedro, que, hoje, três vezes negarás que me conheces, antes que o galo cante.
35 And he said unto them—When I sent you forth, without purse or satchel or sandals, of anything, came ye short? And, they, said—Of nothing!
35 A seguir, Jesus lhes perguntou: Quando vos mandei sem bolsa, sem alforje e sem sandálias, faltou-vos, porventura, alguma coisa? Nada, disseram eles.
36 And he said unto them—But, now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, in like manner also, a satchel; and, he that hath nothing, let him sell his mantle, and buy a sword!
36 Então, lhes disse: Agora, porém, quem tem bolsa, tome-a, como também o alforje; e o que não tem espada, venda a sua capa e compre uma.
37 For I say unto you—This that is written, must needs be completed in me,—And, with lawless ones, was he reckoned; for, even that which concerneth me, hath, completion.
37 Pois vos digo que importa que se cumpra em mim o que está escrito:
38 And, they, said—Lord, lo! two swords, here! And, he, said unto them—’Tis, enough!
38 Então, lhe disseram: Senhor, eis aqui duas espadas! Respondeu-lhes: Basta!
39 And going out, he went, according to his custom, unto the Mount of Olives; and the disciples [also] followed him.
39 E, saindo, foi, como de costume, para o monte das Oliveiras; e os discípulos o acompanharam.
40 And, coming up to the place, he said unto them—Be praying, lest ye enter into temptation.
40 Chegando ao lugar escolhido, Jesus lhes disse: Orai, para que não entreis em tentação.
41 And, he, was torn from them about a stone’s throw; and, bending his knees, he began to pray,
41 Ele, por sua vez, se afastou, cerca de um tiro de pedra, e, de joelhos, orava,
42 saying—Father! if thou please, bear aside this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but thine, be accomplished.
42 dizendo: Pai, se queres, passa de mim este cálice; contudo, não se faça a minha vontade, e sim a tua.
43 [[And there appeared unto him a messenger from heaven, strengthening him,—
43 [Então, lhe apareceu um anjo do céu que o confortava.
44 and, coming to be in an agony, more intensely, was he praying; and his perspiration became, as if great drops of blood, falling upon the ground.]]
44 E, estando em agonia, orava mais intensamente. E aconteceu que o seu suor se tornou como gotas de sangue caindo sobre a terra.]
45 And, arising from prayer, he came unto his disciples, and found them falling asleep by reason of their grief;
45 Levantando-se da oração, foi ter com os discípulos, e os achou dormindo de tristeza,
46 and he said unto them—Why are ye slumbering? Arise! and be praying, lest ye enter into temptation.
46 e disse-lhes: Por que estais dormindo? Levantai-vos e orai, para que não entreis em tentação.
47 While yet he was speaking, lo! a multitude; and, he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them on,—and he drew near unto Jesus, to kiss him.
47 Falava ele ainda, quando chegou uma multidão; e um dos doze, o chamado Judas, que vinha à frente deles, aproximou-se de Jesus para o beijar.
48 But, Jesus, said to him—Judas! with a kiss, the Son of Man, dost thou deliver up?
48 Jesus, porém, lhe disse: Judas, com um beijo trais o Filho do Homem?
49 And they who were about him, seeing what would be, said—Lord! shall we smite with the sword?
49 Os que estavam ao redor dele, vendo o que ia suceder, perguntaram: Senhor, feriremos à espada?
50 And a certain one from among them smote, the High-priest’s, servant, and took off his right ear.
50 Um deles feriu o servo do sumo sacerdote e cortou-lhe a orelha direita.
51 But Jesus, answering, said—Let be—as long as this! …And, touching the ear, he healed him.
51 Mas Jesus acudiu, dizendo: Deixai, basta. E, tocando-lhe a orelha, o curou.
52 And Jesus said unto the High-priests, and Captains of the temple, and Elders, who had come against him—As against a robber, have ye come out, with swords and clubs?
52 Então, dirigindo-se Jesus aos principais sacerdotes, capitães do templo e anciãos que vieram prendê-lo, disse: Saístes com espadas e porretes como para deter um salteador?
53 Daily, was I with you, in the temple, and yet ye stretched not forth your hands against me! …But, this, is your hour, and the authority of darkness.
53 Diariamente, estando eu convosco no templo, não pusestes as mãos sobre mim. Esta, porém, é a vossa hora e o poder das trevas.
54 And, having arrested him, they led him away, and took him into the house of the High-priest; and, Peter, was following afar.
54 Então, prendendo-o, o levaram e o introduziram na casa do sumo sacerdote. Pedro seguia de longe.
55 And, they having kindled up a fire in the midst of the court, and taken seats together, Peter was for sitting among them.
55 E, quando acenderam fogo no meio do pátio e juntos se assentaram, Pedro tomou lugar entre eles.
56 But, a certain maid-servant, seeing him seating himself towards the light, and looking steadfastly at him, said—This one also, was, with him.
56 Entrementes, uma criada, vendo-o assentado perto do fogo, fitando-o, disse: Este também estava com ele.
57 But, he, denied, saying—I know him not, woman!
57 Mas Pedro negava, dizendo: Mulher, não o conheço.
58 And, after a little, another, beholding him, said—Thou also, art, from among them. But, Peter, said—Man! I am not.
58 Pouco depois, vendo-o outro, disse: Também tu és dos tais. Pedro, porém, protestava: Homem, não sou.
59 And, about one hour having passed, a certain other, began stoutly to insist, saying—Of a truth, this one also, was with him; for indeed he is, a Galilaean.
59 E, tendo passado cerca de uma hora, outro afirmava, dizendo: Também este, verdadeiramente, estava com ele, porque também é galileu.
60 But Peter said—Man! I know not what thou art saying! And, instantly while yet he was speaking, a cock crew.
60 Mas Pedro insistia: Homem, não compreendo o que dizes. E logo, estando ele ainda a falar, cantou o galo.
61 And the Lord turned, and looked at Peter; and Peter was put in mind of the declaration of the Lord, how he had said to him—Before, a cock, crow this day, thou wilt deny me thrice!
61 Então, voltando-se o Senhor, fixou os olhos em Pedro, e Pedro se lembrou da palavra do Senhor, como lhe dissera: Hoje, três vezes me negarás, antes de cantar o galo.
62 [And, going forth outside, he wept bitterly.]
62 Então, Pedro, saindo dali, chorou amargamente.
63 And, the men who held him bound, kept mocking him, with blows;
63 Os que detinham Jesus zombavam dele, davam-lhe pancadas e,
64 and, blindfolding him, questioned him, saying—Prophesy! which is he that smote thee?
64 vendando-lhe os olhos, diziam: Profetiza-nos: quem é que te bateu?
65 and, many other things, with profane speech, were they saying unto him.
65 E muitas outras coisas diziam contra ele, blasfemando.
66 And, when it became day, the Eldership of the people was gathered together—both High-priests and Scribes,—and they led him away into their high-council, saying—If, thou, art the Christ, tell us!
66 Logo que amanheceu, reuniu-se a assembleia dos anciãos do povo, tanto os principais sacerdotes como os escribas, e o conduziram ao Sinédrio, onde lhe disseram:
67 But he said unto them—If I should tell, you, in nowise would ye believe,
67 Se tu és o Cristo, dize-nos. Então, Jesus lhes respondeu: Se vo-lo disser, não o acreditareis;
68 And, if I should put questions, in nowise would ye answer;
68 também, se vos perguntar, de nenhum modo me respondereis.
69 But, henceforth, shall the Son of Man be seated on the right hand of the power of God.
69 Desde agora, estará sentado o Filho do Homem à direita do Todo-Poderoso Deus.
70 And they all said—Thou, then, art the Son of God? And, he, unto them said—Ye, say [it],—because, I, am.
70 Então, disseram todos: Logo, tu és o Filho de Deus? E ele lhes respondeu: Vós dizeis que eu sou.
71 And, they, said—What, further, need have we, of witness? We ourselves, have heard it from his mouth.
71 Clamaram, pois: Que necessidade mais temos de testemunho? Porque nós mesmos o ouvimos da sua própria boca.
