1 And Yahweh spake unto Joshua, saying:
1 O SENHOR também falou a Josué, dizendo:
2 Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying,—Set out for you the cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you, by the hand of Moses:
2 Fala aos filhos de Israel, dizendo: Designai para vós cidades de refúgio, das quais eu vos falei pela mão de Moisés;
3 that the manslayer who slayeth a person by mistake, unwittingly, may flee thither,—so shall they be unto you for refuge from the blood-redeemer,
3 para que fuja para lá o homicida que matar qualquer pessoa por descuido, e involuntariamente; e elas serão o vosso refúgio do vingador do sangue.
4 and he shall flee unto one of these cities and present himself at the entrance of the gate of the city, and shall speak, in the ears of the elders of that city, his defence,—and they shall take him for protection into the city unto them, and shall give him a place, so shall he dwell with them.
4 E quando aquele que fugir para uma daquelas cidades estiver de pé à entrada da porta da cidade, e declarar a sua causa aos ouvidos dos anciãos daquela cidade, eles o recebam na cidade e lhe deem um lugar, para que ele possa habitar no meio deles.
5 And, when the blood-redeemer pursueth after him, then shall they not deliver up the manslayer, into his hand,—because, unwittingly, it was that he slew his neighbour, and had not been, cherishing hatred, towards him, aforetime;
5 E se o vingador do sangue o perseguir, eles não entregarão o homicida na sua mão; porquanto feriu o seu próximo involuntariamente, e não o odiou antes.
6 so shall he remain in that city, until he standeth before the assembly, for judgment, until the death of the high-priest who shall be in those days,—then, shall the manslayer return, and enter into his own city, and into his own house, within the city from whence he fled.
6 E ele habitará naquela cidade, até que se ponha de pé diante da congregação para julgamento, e até a morte do sumo sacerdote que estiver naqueles dias; então, o homicida retornará, e seguirá para a sua própria cidade, e para a sua própria casa, para a cidade de onde fugiu.
7 So then they set apart Kadesh in Galilee, in the hill country of Naphtali, and Shechem, in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba, the same, is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah.
7 E eles designaram Quedes, na Galileia, no monte Naftali, e Siquém, no monte Efraim, e Quiriate-Arba, que é Hebrom, no monte de Judá.
8 And, beyond the Jordan, by Jericho eastward, they appointed Bezer in the wilderness, in the table-land, out of the tribe of Reuben,—and Ramoth in Gilead, out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, out of the tribe of Manasseh.
8 E, no outro lado do Jordão, nas cercanias de Jericó, em direção ao leste, eles designaram Bezer, no deserto acima da planície da tribo de Rúben, e Ramote, em Gileade, da tribo de Gade, e Golã, em Basã, da tribo de Manassés.
9 These, were the cities appointed for all the sons of Israel, and for the sojourner who sojourneth in their midst, that whosoever should slay a person by mistake, might flee thither,—and not die by the hand of the blood-redeemer, until he should stand before the assembly.
9 Estas foram as cidades designadas a todos os filhos de Israel, e para o estrangeiro que peregrinar no seu meio, a fim de que todo o que matar qualquer pessoa por descuido possa para lá fugir, e não morrer pela mão do vingador do sangue, até que esteja de pé diante da congregação.
