1 Alas for Ariel, Ariel, The city against which, David encamped,—Add ye a year to a year. Let the festivals, come round;
1 Ai de Ariel! Ariel, cidade onde Davi acampou! Acrescentem ano a ano, deixem que as festas completem o seu ciclo;
2 Yet will I bring Ariel into straits,—And she shall become a bewailing and wailing, Yea she shall become to me a veritable Hearth of God.
2 no entanto, porei Ariel em aperto, e haverá pranto e lamentação; e ela será para mim como Ariel.
3 And I will encamp round about against thee,—And lay siege against thee with a fort, And raise against thee siege-works;
3 Acamparei ao redor de você, vou cercá-la de trincheiras e levantarei rampas de ataque contra você.
4 And thou shalt be brought low—Out of the earth, shalt thou speak, And out of the dust, shalt thou lower thine utterance,—And as one that hath a familiar spirit, Out of the earth, shall come thy voice, And out of the dust, thy speech shall chirp;
4 Então, lançada por terra, do chão você falará, e do pó sairá afogada a sua fala. A sua voz subirá da terra como se fosse a de um fantasma; a sua fala será como um cochicho vindo do pó.
5 Then shall be as fine dust the multitude of thy foreigners,—And as chaff that passeth away, the multitude of tyrants; And it shall come to pass, in a twinkling, Suddenly,
5 Mas a multidão dos seus inimigos será como o pó fino, e a multidão dos tiranos, como a palha que voa. E isso acontecerá de repente, num instante.
6 From Yahweh of hosts, shalt thou be visited, With thunder, and with earthquake and a great noise, hurricane and storm and flame of fire devouring;
6 Do Senhor dos Exércitos vem o castigo com trovões, com terremotos, grande estrondo, tufão de vento, tempestade e labaredas de um fogo devorador.
7 And it shall be like the dream of a night vision, With the multitude of all the nations who have been making war against Ariel,—Even with all who have been making war against her and her stronghold and who have been laying siege to her;
7 Como sonho e visão noturna será a multidão de todas as nações que lutam contra Ariel, bem como todos os que lutam contra ela e contra a sua fortaleza e a põem em aperto.
8 Yea it shall be As when the hungry man dreameth and lo! he is eating, But he awaketh, and his soul, is empty, Or as when the thirsty man dreameth and lo! he is drinking, But he awaketh and lo! he is faint and his soul, is craving, So, shall it be with the multitude of all the nations, that have come forth to war against Mount Zion.
8 Será também como o faminto que sonha que está comendo, mas que, ao acordar, sente-se vazio; ou como a pessoa sedenta que sonha estar bebendo água, mas que, ao acordar, sente-se fraca e ainda com sede. Assim será toda a multidão das nações que lutam contra o monte Sião.
9 Stand ye stock still and stare, Besmear your eyes and be blind,—They are drunken but not with wine, They reel, but not with strong drink;
9 Fiquem espantados e continuem assim! Fiquem cegos e continuem sem ver! Eles estão bêbados, mas não de vinho; andam cambaleando, mas não por causa de bebida forte.
10 For Yahweh, hath poured out upon you, a spirit of deep sleep, Yea hath tightly shut your eyes—the prophets,—And, your heads—the seers, hath he covered,
10 Porque o Senhor derramou sobre vocês o espírito de profundo sono; ele fechou os olhos de vocês, que são os profetas, e cobriu a cabeça de vocês, que são os videntes.
11 And so all vision hath become unto you as the words of a writing that is sealed, Which is delivered unto one acquainted with writing, saying, Pray thee read this, And he saith, I cannot, for it is sealed;
11 Para vocês, toda visão já se tornou como as palavras de um livro selado. Se derem o livro a alguém que sabe ler, dizendo: “Leia isto, por favor”, ele responderá: “Não posso, porque está selado.”
12 And then the writing is delivered to one unacquainted with writing, saying, Pray thee read this, And he saith I am not acquainted with writing.
12 E, se derem o livro a quem não sabe ler, dizendo: “Leia isto, por favor”, ele responderá: “Não sei ler.”
13 Wherefore My Lord hath said,—Because this people, hath drawn near with their mouth, And with their lips, have honoured me, But their heart, have they moved far from me, And so their reverence of me hath become A commandment of men in which they have been schooled,
13 O Senhor disse: “Visto que este povo se aproxima de mim e com a sua boca e com os seus lábios me honra, mas o seu coração está longe de mim, e o seu temor para comigo consiste só em mandamentos ensinados por homens,
14 Therefore, behold me! again dealing wonderfully with this people, doing wonderfully a wonderful thing,—So shall perish, the wisdom of their wise men, And the intelligence of their intelligent men, shall vanish!
14 continuarei a fazer obra maravilhosa no meio deste povo. Sim, farei obra maravilhosa e um prodígio, de maneira que a sabedoria dos seus sábios será destruída, e o entendimento dos seus entendidos desaparecerá.”
15 Alas! for them who would fain have been too deep for Yahweh by giving secret counsel,—and therefore in the dark, have been their doings, and they have said Who can see us? and—Who can understand us?
15 Ai dos que escondem profundamente o seu propósito do Ai dos que fazem as suas próprias obras às escuras, e dizem: “Quem nos vê? Quem sabe o que estamos fazendo?”
16 Your perverseness! As if like clay, the potter could be reckoned; For shall, the thing made say of him that made it, he made me not? Or hath the thing fashioned ever said of him that fashioned it, He hath no understanding.
16 Como vocês invertem as coisas! Será que o oleiro é igual ao barro? Pode a obra dizer ao seu artífice: “Ele não me fez”? Pode a coisa feita dizer do seu oleiro: “Ele não sabe nada”?
17 Is it not yet a very little while, And Lebanon shall be turned, into garden land,—And garden land, for a forest, be reckoned?
17 Não é fato que, dentro de muito pouco tempo, o Líbano se tornará pomar, e o pomar será tido por bosque?
18 Therefore, in that day, shall the deaf hear the words of a book,—And out of gloom and darkness, the eyes of the blind shall see;
18 Naquele dia, os surdos ouvirão as palavras do livro, e os cegos, livres da escuridão e das trevas, as verão.
19 And again shall the humbled in Yahweh, have joy,—And the needy of mankind in the Holy One of Israel, exult;
19 Os mansos voltarão a se alegrar no e os pobres do meio do povo exultarão no Santo de Israel.
20 For the tyrant, hath vanished, And the scoffer, is no more, Yea cut off are all who watch for iniquity:—
20 Pois o tirano será reduzido a nada, o zombador já não existirá, e serão eliminados todos os que buscam o mal,
21 Who bring a man into condemnation with a rumour, And for him that decideth in the gate, lay a snare,—And have driven away, for a thing of nought, one who was righteous.
21 os quais com uma palavra condenam o inocente, põem armadilhas ao que repreende no tribunal, e sem motivo negam ao justo o seu direito.
22 Therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh, concerning the house of Jacob, [even he saith it] who redeemed Abraham,—Not now, shall, Jacob turn pale, And, not now, shall their faces whiten;
22 Portanto, a respeito da casa de Jacó, o Senhor , que remiu Abraão, diz o seguinte: “Jacó não será mais envergonhado, nem mais ficará pálido o seu rosto.
23 For, when he seeth his children the work of my hands, in his midst, They will hallow my Name,—Yea they will hallow the Holy One of Jacob, And the God of Israel, will they regard with awe.
23 Pois, quando ele e os seus filhos virem a obra das minhas mãos no meio deles, santificarão o meu nome; sim, santificarão o Santo de Jacó e temerão o Deus de Israel.
24 Then will they who erred in spirit comprehend, And the murmurers, accept instruction.
24 E os desencaminhados de espírito virão a ter entendimento, e os murmuradores hão de aceitar instrução.”
