1 The oracle on Babylon,—of which Isaiah, son of Amoz had vision:—
1 Sentença contra a Babilônia que Isaías, filho de Amoz, recebeu numa visão.
2 Upon a bare mountain, lift ye up a standard, Raise high the voice to them, Wave the hand, That they may enter the doors of nobles.
2 Sobre um monte escalvado, levantem um estandarte. Ergam a voz para eles, acenem com a mão, para que entrem pelos portões dos príncipes.
3 I myself, have given charge to my hallowed ones,—Yea I have called My heroes in showing mine anger, My proudly exulting ones.
3 Eu dei ordens aos meus consagrados, sim, chamei os meus valentes, os que exultam com a minha majestade, para que executem a minha ira.
4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, A resemblance of many people,—The noise of a tumult of kingdoms Nations gathered together, Yahweh of hosts, mustering a host for battle!
4 Já se ouve sobre os montes um rumor como o de uma grande multidão, o clamor de reinos e de nações já congregados. O as tropas de guerra.
5 They are coming in From a land far away. From the utmost bound of the heavens,—Yahweh—with his weapons of indignation, To destroy the land.
5 Eles vêm de um país remoto, desde a extremidade dos céus: é o da sua indignação, para destruir toda a terra.
6 Howl ye! for at hand is the day of Yahweh,—As a veritable destruction from the Almighty, shall it come.
6 Lamentem, pois o Dia do Senhor está perto; ele vem como destruição da parte do Todo-Poderoso.
7 For this cause—All hands, shall hang down,—and Every mortal heart, melt.
7 Por isso, todas as mãos desfalecerão, e o coração de todos se derreterá.
8 And they shall be in distress—Writhings and pains, shall lay hold, As a woman in childbirth, shall they be in pangs,—Everyone, at his neighbour, shall look in amazement, Faces of flames, their faces!
8 Ficarão apavorados; angústia e dores tomarão conta deles, e se contorcerão qual mulher que está dando à luz. Olharão espantados uns para os outros, com os rostos da cor do fogo.
9 Lo! the day of Yahweh, coming in, Fierce and overflowing, and burning with anger,—To devote the earth to desolation, And her sinners, will he destroy out of it.
9 Eis que vem o Dia do Senhor , dia cruel, com ira e ardente furor, para fazer da terra uma desolação e exterminar dela os pecadores.
10 For the stars of the heavens and their constellations, shall not flash forth their light,—Obscured shall be the sun in his going forth, And the moon, shall not shed her light.
10 Porque as estrelas e constelações dos céus não darão a sua luz; o sol, logo ao nascer, se escurecerá, e a lua não fará resplandecer a sua luz.
11 And I will visit, upon the inhabited earth, calamity!, And upon the lawless, their punishment, And will quiet the arrogance of the proud, And the loftiness of tyrants, will I lay low.
11 “Castigarei o mundo por causa da sua maldade, e os perversos, por causa da sua iniquidade. Farei cessar a arrogância dos atrevidos e abaterei o orgulho dos violentos.
12 I will cause, a man, to be more precious than fine gold,—Even a son of earth than, the finest gold of Ophir.
12 Farei com que as pessoas sejam mais escassas do que o ouro puro, mais raras do que o ouro de Ofir.
13 For this cause, the heavens, will I disturb, And, the earth, shall tremble out of her place,—In the wrath of Yahweh of hosts, And in the day of the glow of his anger.
13 Portanto, farei estremecer os céus, e a terra será sacudida do seu lugar, por causa da ira do e por causa do dia do seu ardente furor.”
14 And it shall be—Like a gazelle that is chased, And like a sheep with none to lift it up,—Each, to his own people, will they turn, And, each, to his own land, will they flee:
14 “Cada um será como a gazela que foge e como o rebanho que ninguém recolhe; cada um voltará para o seu povo e cada um fugirá para a sua terra.
15 Every one found, shall be thrust through,—And, every one taken, shall fall by the sword;
15 Quem for achado será traspassado, e aquele que for apanhado será morto à espada.
16 And, their infants, shall be dashed to the ground, before their eyes,—Plundered shall be, their houses, and their wives ravished.
16 As crianças serão esmagadas diante dos olhos deles; as casas serão saqueadas, e as mulheres deles, violentadas.”
17 Behold me! stirring up against them the Medes,—Who of silver, shall take no account, And as for gold, they shall not delight in it;
17 “Eis que contra os babilônios eu despertarei os medos, que não farão caso de prata, nem se alegrarão com ouro.
18 And, bows, shall dash the young to pieces,—And on the fruit of the womb, will they have no pity, Over children, will their eye throw no shield.
18 As suas flechas matarão os jovens; eles não se compadecerão dos recém-nascidos, e os seus olhos não pouparão as crianças.
19 Thus shall Babylon—The most lovely of kingdoms, The majestic beauty of the Chaldees—Become as in the divine overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah.
19 Babilônia, a joia dos reinos, glória e orgulho dos caldeus, será como Sodoma e Gomorra, quando Deus as destruiu.
20 It shall not be dwelt in for ever, Neither shall it be inhabited from generation to generation,—Neither shall encamp there, an Arab, Nor, shepherds, fold their flocks there.
20 Nunca mais será habitada, ninguém morará nela de geração em geração. Os árabes não armarão ali as suas tendas, e os pastores não levarão para lá os seus rebanhos.
21 Then shall lie down there, wild beasts, And filled shall be their houses with owls,—Then shall inhabit there, the ostrich, And shaggy creatures, shall dance there.
21 Porém, nela, os animais do deserto repousarão, e as suas casas se encherão de corujas. Ali habitarão os avestruzes, e os bodes selvagens pularão ali.
22 And jackals shall answer, in their citadels, And wild dogs, in their voluptuous palaces,—And near to come is her time, And, her days, shall not be delayed.
22 As hienas uivarão nos seus castelos; os chacais, nos seus palácios de prazer. A hora da Babilônia está chegando, e os seus dias não serão prolongados.”
