1 Now, Yahweh, visited Sarah, as he had said,—And Yahweh did for Sarah as he had spoken.
1 Visitou o Senhor a Sara, como lhe dissera, e o Senhor cumpriu o que lhe havia prometido.
2 So, Sarah, conceived and bare, to Abraham, a son, for his old age, at the set time, of which God had spoken with him.
2 Sara concebeu e deu à luz um filho a Abraão na sua velhice, no tempo determinado, de que Deus lhe falara.
3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him, whom, Sarah, bare to him, Isaac.
3 Ao filho que lhe nasceu, que Sara lhe dera à luz, pôs Abraão o nome de Isaque.
4 And Abraham circumcised Isaac his son, when eight days old,—as God commanded him.
4 Abraão circuncidou a seu filho Isaque, quando este era de oito dias, segundo Deus lhe havia ordenado.
5 Now Abraham was a hundred years old,—when Isaac his son was born to him.
5 Tinha Abraão cem anos, quando lhe nasceu Isaque, seu filho.
6 And Sarah said, A laughing, hath God made for me,—Everyone that heareth will laugh with me.
6 E disse Sara: Deus me deu motivo de riso; e todo aquele que ouvir isso vai rir-se juntamente comigo.
7 And she said—Who would have announced to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled children? yet have I borne a son, for his old age!
7 E acrescentou: Quem teria dito a Abraão que Sara amamentaria um filho? Pois na sua velhice lhe dei um filho.
8 And the child grew, and was weaned,—and Abraham made a great banquet, on the day of the weaning of Isaac.
8 Isaque cresceu e foi desmamado. Nesse dia em que o menino foi desmamado, deu Abraão um grande banquete.
9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian woman whom she had borne to Abraham laughing!
9 Vendo Sara que o filho de Agar, a egípcia, o qual ela dera à luz a Abraão, caçoava de Isaque,
10 So she said to Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son,—for the son of this bondwoman must not inherit with my son with Isaac.
10 disse a Abraão: Rejeita essa escrava e seu filho; porque o filho dessa escrava não será herdeiro com Isaque, meu filho.
11 And the word was very grievous in the eyes of Abraham,—on account of his son.
11 Pareceu isso mui penoso aos olhos de Abraão, por causa de seu filho.
12 And God said unto Abraham Let it not be grievous in thine eyes concerning the boy and concerning thy bondwoman, In all that Sarah may say unto thee, hearken to her voice,—For in Isaac, shall there be called to thee—a seed.
12 Disse, porém, Deus a Abraão: Não te pareça isso mal por causa do moço e por causa da tua serva; atende a Sara em tudo o que ela te disser; porque por Isaque será chamada a tua descendência.
13 Yet even the son of the bondwoman, will I appoint to become, a nation, because thy seed, he is.
13 Mas também do filho da serva farei uma grande nação, por ser ele teu descendente.
14 So Abraham rose up early in the morning—and took bread and a skin of water and gave unto hagar,—putting them on her shoulder and the child, and sent her forth,—so she went her way and wandered, in the desert of Beer-sheba.
14 Levantou-se, pois, Abraão de madrugada, tomou pão e um odre de água, pô-los às costas de Agar, deu-lhe o menino e a despediu. Ela saiu, andando errante pelo deserto de Berseba.
15 And the water out of the skin was spent,—so she cast the child under one of the shrubs;
15 Tendo-se acabado a água do odre, colocou ela o menino debaixo de um dos arbustos
16 and went and sat her down over against him at a distance like as of such as draw the bow, for she said Let me not look upon the death of the child,—So she sat down over against him, and the boy lifted up his voice, and wept
16 e, afastando-se, foi sentar-se defronte, à distância de um tiro de arco; porque dizia: Assim, não verei morrer o menino; e, sentando-se em frente dele, levantou a voz e chorou.
17 And God heard the voice of the boy, and a messenger of God called unto Hagar out of the heavens; and said to her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Do not fear, for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the boy where he is.
17 Deus, porém, ouviu a voz do menino; e o Anjo de Deus chamou do céu a Agar e lhe disse: Que tens, Agar? Não temas, porque Deus ouviu a voz do menino, daí onde está.
18 Arise lift up the boy, and hold him up with thy hand,—for, a great nation, will I make him.
18 Ergue-te, levanta o rapaz, segura-o pela mão, porque eu farei dele um grande povo.
19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water,—and went and filled the skin with water, and gave drink unto the boy
19 Abrindo-lhe Deus os olhos, viu ela um poço de água, e, indo a ele, encheu de água o odre, e deu de beber ao rapaz.
20 And it came to pass that God was with the boy, and he grew,—and dwelt in the desert, and he became as he grew up, an archer,
20 Deus estava com o rapaz, que cresceu, habitou no deserto e se tornou flecheiro;
21 And he dwelt in the desert of Paran,—and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
21 habitou no deserto de Parã, e sua mãe o casou com uma mulher da terra do Egito.
22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech, with Phicol chieftain of his host, spake unto Abraham, saying,—God, is with thee in all that, thou art doing.
22 Por esse tempo, Abimeleque e Ficol, comandante do seu exército, disseram a Abraão: Deus é contigo em tudo o que fazes;
23 Now, therefore, swear to me by God, here, that thou wilt not deal falsely by me, nor by mine offspring, nor by my descendants,—according to the lovingkindness wherewith I have dealt with thee, shalt thou deal with me, and with the land wherein thou hast sojourned.
23 agora, pois, jura-me aqui por Deus que me não mentirás, nem a meu filho, nem a meu neto; e sim que usarás comigo e com a terra em que tens habitado daquela mesma bondade com que eu te tratei.
24 And Abraham said, I, will swear.
24 Respondeu Abraão: Juro.
25 But Abraham reproved Abimelech,—on account of the well of water, which the servants of Abimelech had seized.
25 Nada obstante, Abraão repreendeu a Abimeleque por causa de um poço de água que os servos deste lhe haviam tomado à força.
26 And Abimelech said, I know not, who hath done this thing,—nor hast even thou, ever told me, nor have even I, ever heard, save to-day.
26 Respondeu-lhe Abimeleque: Não sei quem terá feito isso; também nada me fizeste saber, nem tampouco ouvi falar disso, senão hoje.
27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave to Abimelech,—and they two solemnised a covenant
27 Tomou Abraão ovelhas e bois e deu-os a Abimeleque; e fizeram ambos uma aliança.
28 So then Abraham set seven young sheep of the flock by them-selves,
28 Pôs Abraão à parte sete cordeiras do rebanho.
29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What, then mean these seven young sheep here, which thou hast set by themselves?
29 Perguntou Abimeleque a Abraão: Que significam as sete cordeiras que puseste à parte?
30 And he said, The seven young sheep, shalt thou take at my hand,—that they may serve as my witness, that I digged this well.
30 Respondeu Abraão: Receberás de minhas mãos as sete cordeiras, para que me sirvam de testemunho de que eu cavei este poço.
31 On this account, was the name of that place called Beer-sheba [="oath well"],—because there, had they two sworn.
31 Por isso, se chamou aquele lugar Berseba, porque ali juraram eles ambos.
32 And when they had solemnised a covenant in Beer-sheba,—then arose Abimelech, with Phicol chief of his host, and returned unto the land of the Philistines.
32 Assim, fizeram aliança em Berseba; levantaram-se Abimeleque e Ficol, comandante do seu exército, e voltaram para as terras dos filisteus.
33 Then planted he a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba,—and called there on the name of Yahweh the age-abiding GOD.
33 Plantou Abraão tamargueiras em Berseba e invocou ali o nome do Senhor , Deus Eterno.
34 So Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.
34 E foi Abraão, por muito tempo, morador na terra dos filisteus.
