1 Thou. therefore take up a dirge, for the prince of Israel;
1 E, tu, levanta uma lamentação sobre os príncipes de Israel
2 and thou shalt say— How was thy mother a lioness, Between lions, she lay down,- In the midst of young lions, She nourished her whelps;
2 e dize: Quem foi tua mãe? Uma leoa entre leões deitada criou os seus filhotes no meio dos leõezinhos.
3 And she reared up one of her whelps— A young lion, he became, And he learned to rend prey. Men, he devoured.
3 E fez crescer um dos seus filhotinhos, o qual veio a ser leãozinho e aprendeu a apanhar a presa; e devorou os homens.
4 Then nations heard of him. In their pit, was he caught,— So they brought him with hooks. Into the land of Egypt.
4 E, ouvindo falar dele as nações, foi apanhado na sua cova, e o trouxeram com ganchos à terra do Egito.
5 And she saw she had waited Lost was her hope, Then took she another of her whelps. A young lion, she made him.
5 Vendo, pois, ela que havia esperado e que a sua esperança era perdida, tomou outro dos seus filhotes e fez dele um leãozinho.
6 Yea he went to and fro amidst lions A young lion, he became,- And he learned to rend prey. Men, he devoured;
6 E este, andando continuamente no meio dos leões, veio a ser um leãozinho, e aprendeu a apanhar a presa, e devorou homens.
7 And he injured his widows, And their cities, laid waste,- And deserted was the land and its fulness, At the noise of his roaring.
7 E conheceu os seus palácios e destruiu as suas cidades; e assolou-se a terra e a sua plenitude, ao ouvir o seu rugido.
8 Then set upon him the nations round about. From the provinces,- And spread over him their net In their pit, was he caught;
8 Então, se ajuntaram contra ele as pessoas das províncias em roda, estenderam sobre ele a rede, e foi apanhado na sua cova.
9 And they put him in a cage with hooks, And brought him to Babylon’s king,— They brought him into strong-holds, That his noise might be heard no more Among the mountains of Israel.
9 E meteram-no em cárcere com ganchos e o levaram ao rei da Babilônia; fizeram-no entrar nos lugares fortes, para que se não ouvisse mais a sua voz nos montes de Israel.
10 Thy mother [was] like a vine of thy vineyard, By waters, was planted,— Fruitful and full of branches, she became By reason of waters abundant;
10 Tua mãe era como uma videira na tua quietação, plantada à borda das águas; ela frutificou e encheu-se de ramos, por causa das muitas águas.
11 And they served her as staves of power For the sceptres of rulers, And high became the stature thereof With its interwoven foliage,- And it was seen by its height, By its multitude of branches.
11 E tinha varas fortes para cetros de dominadores e elevou-se a sua estatura entre os espessos ramos, e foi vista na sua altura com a multidão dos seus ramos.
12 Then was she uprooted in indignation To the ground, was she cast, And an east wind, dried up her fruit,—Broken off and withered were her staves of power, A fire, devoured them.
12 Mas foi arrancada com furor, foi abatida até à terra, e o vento oriental secou o seu fruto; quebraram-se e secaram-se as suas fortes varas, e o fogo as consumiu.
13 Now, therefore, is she planted in a desert, -In a land parched and dry;
13 E, agora, está plantada no deserto, numa terra seca e sedenta.
14 And there hath gone forth a fire out of her staves of rods. Her fruit, hath it devoured, And there is in her no staff of power. As a sceptre to bear rule. A dirge, it is, and hath been made a dirge.
14 E de uma vara dos seus ramos saiu fogo que consumiu o seu fruto, de maneira que não há nela nenhuma vara forte, cetro para dominar. Esta é a lamentação e servirá de lamentação.
