1 Therefore thou shalt love Yhwh thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.
1 Moisés disse ao povo: — Amem o
2 And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of Yhwh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,
2 Pensem hoje na grandeza de Deus e naquilo que aprenderam a respeito do seu poder e da sua força. Foram vocês, e não os seus filhos, que viram e conheceram tudo isso.
3 And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;
3 Lembrem dos milagres e de tudo o que o Senhor Deus fez no Egito contra Faraó, rei do Egito, e contra toda aquela nação.
4 And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how Yhwh hath destroyed them unto this day;
4 Vocês viram o que Deus fez com o exército dos egípcios e com os seus cavalos e carros de guerra, quando estavam perseguindo vocês. O Senhor fez com que as águas do mar Vermelho os cobrissem e afogassem, e assim acabou com eles para sempre.
5 And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came into this place;
5 Vocês viram o que Deus fez no deserto, durante a viagem até este lugar,
6 And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
6 e também o que fez com Datã e Abirão, filhos de Eliabe, da tribo de Rúben. Na presença de todos a terra se abriu e engoliu os dois, junto com as suas famílias, barracas, empregados e animais.
7 But your eyes have seen all the great acts of Yhwh which he did.
7 E vocês mesmos viram todos os grandes milagres que o Senhor Deus fez.
8 Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;
8 — Portanto, obedeçam a todas as leis que hoje estou dando a vocês a fim de que sejam fortes e possam invadir a terra para onde estão indo e tomar posse dela.
9 And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which Yhwh sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
9 Assim vocês viverão muitos anos naquela terra boa e rica que o Senhor Deus jurou dar aos nossos antepassados e aos seus descendentes.
10 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
10 A terra que vai ser de vocês não é como o Egito, de onde saíram. Ali, depois de semearem a terra, vocês precisavam trabalhar muito para regar o chão, como se fosse uma horta.
11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
11 Porém a terra que vocês vão possuir é uma terra de montes e vales, onde nunca falta chuva.
12 A land which Yhwh thy God careth for: the eyes of Yhwh thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
12 O Senhor , nosso Deus, cuida daquela terra e nunca a esquece, desde o começo até o fim do ano.
13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love Yhwh your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
13 Portanto, se vocês obedecerem às leis que eu lhes estou dando hoje, e se amarem o Senhor , nosso Deus, e o servirem com todo o coração e com toda a alma,
14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy grain, and thy wine, and thine oil.
14 então ele dará as chuvas no tempo certo, tanto as chuvas do outono como as da primavera. Assim haverá boas colheitas de cereais, de uvas e de azeitonas,
15 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
15 e haverá pastos para o gado. Vocês terão toda a comida que precisarem.
16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
16 Tenham cuidado, não deixem que o seu coração seja enganado; não abandonem a Deus para adorar e servir outros deuses.
17 And then Yhwh's wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which Yhwh giveth you.
17 Se fizerem isso, Deus ficará irado com vocês e não mandará chuvas. Aí a terra não produzirá colheitas, e em pouco tempo vocês desaparecerão da boa terra que o Senhor está dando a vocês.
18 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
18 — Lembrem desses mandamentos e os guardem no seu coração. Amarrem essas leis nos braços e na testa, para que não as esqueçam,
19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
19 e não deixem de ensiná-las aos seus filhos. Repitam essas leis em casa e fora de casa, quando se deitarem e quando se levantarem,
20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
20 e as escrevam nos batentes das portas das suas casas e nos seus portões.
21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yhwh sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
21 Assim vocês e os seus descendentes viverão muitos anos na terra que o Senhor Deus jurou dar aos nossos antepassados. Enquanto o mundo existir, vocês viverão naquela terra.
22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love Yhwh your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
22 — Portanto, obedeçam a todas as leis que eu lhes estou dando. Amem o Senhor , nosso Deus, sigam todos os seus mandamentos e fiquem ligados com ele.
23 Then will Yhwh drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
23 Se fizerem isso, Deus expulsará todas essas nações, e vocês tomarão posse de uma terra que pertence a povos mais numerosos e mais poderosos do que vocês.
24 Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
24 Será de vocês toda a terra por onde andarem, desde o deserto, no Sul, até os montes Líbanos, no Norte; desde o rio Eufrates, no Leste, até o mar Mediterrâneo, no Oeste.
25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: for Yhwh your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
25 Vocês nunca serão derrotados, pois o Senhor , nosso Deus, cumprirá o que prometeu e fará com que todos os povos daquela terra fiquem apavorados com vocês.
26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
26 E Moisés disse ao povo: — Hoje vou deixar que vocês escolham se querem bênção ou maldição.
27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of Yhwh your God, which I command you this day:
27 Vocês receberão a bênção se obedecerem às leis do Senhor , nosso Deus, que estou dando a vocês hoje;
28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of Yhwh your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
28 ou receberão a maldição, se não obedecerem às suas leis, mas rejeitarem os mandamentos que eu lhes estou dando hoje e adorarem outros deuses que vocês não conheciam.
29 And it shall come to pass, when Yhwh thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.
29 Quando o Senhor Deus os levar para a terra que vão possuir, vocês anunciarão a bênção no monte Gerizim e a maldição no monte Ebal.
30 Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the wilderness over against Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?
30 (Esses dois montes ficam na terra dos cananeus, a oeste do rio Jordão, na região do vale do Jordão. Ficam perto da cidade de Gilgal, não longe das árvores sagradas de Moré.)
31 For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which Yhwh your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.
31 — Agora vocês vão atravessar o rio Jordão e tomar posse da terra que o Senhor , nosso Deus, lhes está dando. Portanto, depois de invadirem a terra e começarem a morar lá,
32 And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
32 tenham o cuidado de obedecer a todas as leis e mandamentos que hoje eu estou dando a vocês.
