¹ Answer my cry, God, my defender. Often from straits you have brought me to spacious places. So now show me your favour and hear my prayer.

¹ Responde-me quando eu clamar, ó Deus da minha justiça! Na angústia me deste largueza; tem misericórdia de mim e ouve a minha oração.

² How long, you proud people, will my honour be stained by the slanders you love, and the lies that you follow? (Selah)

² Filhos dos homens, até quando convertereis a minha glória em infâmia? Até quando amareis a vaidade e buscareis a mentira?

³ See! The Lord has shown me his wonderful kindness: the Lord hears, when I call to him.

³ Sabei que o Senhor separou para si aquele que é piedoso; o Senhor me ouve quando eu clamo a ele.

⁴ Sin not in your anger: but speak in your heart on your bed, and be still. (Selah)

⁴ Irai-vos e não pequeis; consultai com o vosso coração em vosso leito, e calai-vos.

⁵ Offer true sacrifice, trust in the Lord.

⁵ Oferecei sacrifícios de justiça, e confiai no Senhor.

⁶ Many are longing for fortune to smile. Lift upon us the light of your face.

⁶ Muitos dizem: Quem nos mostrará o bem? Levanta, Senhor, sobre nós a luz do teu rosto.

⁷ You have put in my heart, Lord, a deeper joy than was theirs who had corn and wine in abundance.

⁷ Puseste no meu coração mais alegria do que a deles no tempo em que se lhes multiplicam o trigo e o vinho.

⁸ So in peace I will lie down and sleep; for you, Lord, keep me safe.

⁸ Em paz me deitarei e dormirei, porque só tu, Senhor, me fazes habitar em segurança.
