¹ Rescue me, Lord, from evil people; from people of violence guard me

¹ Livra-me, Senhor , do homem perverso, guarda-me do homem violento,

² from those who plot evil in their heart, and stir up war continually:

² cujo coração maquina iniquidades e vive forjando contendas.

³ who make their tongue as sharp as a serpent’s, and under whose lips is the poison of adders. (Selah)

³ Aguçam a língua como a serpente; sob os lábios têm veneno de áspide.

⁴ Preserve me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked, from the violent guard me from those who are plotting to trip up my feet.

⁴ Guarda-me, Senhor , da mão dos ímpios, preserva-me do homem violento, os quais se empenham por me desviar os passos.

⁵ The proud have hidden a trap for me, cords they have spread as a net for my feet: snares they have set at the side of my track. (Selah)

⁵ Os soberbos ocultaram armadilhas e cordas contra mim, estenderam-me uma rede à beira do caminho, armaram ciladas contra mim.

⁶ I have said to the Lord, “My God are you; give ear, Lord, to my loud plea.

⁶ Digo ao Senhor : tu és o meu Deus; acode,

⁷ O Lord my Lord, my Saviour mighty, you did cover my head in the day of battle.

⁷ Ó Senhor , força da minha salvação, tu me protegeste a cabeça no dia da batalha.

⁸ Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; and what they have purposed, promote you not.” (Selah)

⁸ Não concedas, Senhor , ao ímpio os seus desejos; não permitas que vingue o seu mau propósito.

⁹ Let them not lift up their heads against me. May the mischief they prate bring themselves to destruction,

⁹ Se exaltam a cabeça os que me cercam, cubra-os a maldade dos seus lábios.

¹⁰ may he rain upon them coals of fire, may he strike them down swiftly, to rise no more,

¹⁰ Caiam sobre eles brasas vivas, sejam atirados ao fogo, lançados em abismos para que não mais se levantem.

¹¹ no place in the land may there be for the slanderer: may the violent be hunted from sorrow to sorrow.

¹¹ O caluniador não se estabelecerá na terra; ao homem violento, o mal o perseguirá com golpe sobre golpe.

¹² I know that the Lord will do right by the weak, and will execute justice for those who are needy.

¹² Sei que o Senhor manterá a causa do oprimido e o direito do necessitado.

¹³ Surely the righteous shall praise your name, and they who are upright shall live in your presence.

¹³ Assim, os justos renderão graças ao teu nome; os retos habitarão na tua presença.
