1 As for those whose faith is weak, always receive them as friends, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on their scruples.
1 Recebei ao fraco na fé, mas não para discutir assuntos duvidosos.
2 One person’s faith permits of their eating food of all kinds, while another whose faith is weak eats only vegetable food.
2 Porque um crê que ele pode comer todas as coisas, e outro, que é fraco, come ervas.
3 The person who eats meat must not despise the person who abstains from it; nor must the person who abstains from eating meat pass judgment on the one who eats it, for God himself has received them.
3 Quem come não despreze o que não come; e o que não come, não julgue o que come; porque Deus o recebeu.
4 Who are you, that you should pass judgment on the servant of another? Their standing or falling concerns their own master. And stand they will, for their Master can enable them to stand.
4 Quem és tu que julgas o servo de outro homem? Para seu próprio senhor ele está em pé ou cai; mas ele estará firme, porque Deus é capaz de o fazer ficar em pé.
5 Again, one person considers some days to be more sacred than others, while another considers all days to be alike. Everyone ought to be fully convinced in their own mind.
5 Um homem considera um dia superior ao outro; e outro, considera todos os dias iguais. Seja cada homem completamente convicto em sua própria mente.
6 The person who observes a day, observes it to the Master’s honor. They, again, who eat meat eat it to the Master’s honor, for they give thanks to God; while the person who abstains from it abstains from it to the Master’s honor, and also gives thanks to God.
6 Aquele que considera o dia, considere para o Senhor; e aquele que não considera o dia, para o Senhor não considera; e quem come, para o Senhor come porque dá graças a Deus; e o que não come, para o Senhor não come, e dá graças a Deus.
7 There is not one of us whose life concerns ourselves alone, and not one of us whose death concerns ourself alone;
7 Porque nenhum de nós vive para si, e nenhum homem morre para si.
8 for, if we live, our life is for the Master, and, if we die, our death is for the Master. Whether, then, we live or die we belong to the Master.
8 Porque se vivemos, para o Senhor vivemos; e se morremos, para o Senhor morremos. Portanto, vivendo ou morrendo, somos do Senhor.
9 The purpose for which Christ died and came back to life was this — that he might be Lord over both the dead and the living.
9 Porque para isto Cristo morreu, e ressuscitou, e tornou a viver, para que ele pudesse ser Senhor tanto dos mortos como dos vivos.
10 I would ask the one ‘Why do you judge other followers of the Lord?’ And I would ask the other ‘Why do you despise them?’ For we will all stand before the court of God.
10 Mas por que tu julgas o teu irmão? Ou por que tu desprezas teu irmão? Porquanto, todos nós compareceremos diante do tribunal de Cristo.
11 For scripture says — ‘“As surely as I live,” says the Lord, “every knee will bend before me; and every tongue will make acknowledgment to God.”’
11 Porque está escrito: Como eu vivo, diz o Senhor, todo joelho se dobrará diante de mim, e toda língua confessará a Deus.
12 So, then, each one of us will have to render account of himself to God.
12 Assim, então, cada um de nós dará conta de si mesmo a Deus.
13 Let us, then, cease to judge one another. Rather let this be your resolve — never to place a stumbling-block or an obstacle in the way of a fellow follower of the Lord.
13 Portanto não nos julguemos mais uns aos outros; mas antes decidi isto, em não pordes tropeço ou escândalo no caminho do seu irmão.
14 Through my union with the Lord Jesus, I know and am persuaded that nothing is ‘defiling in itself.’ A thing is ‘defiling’ only to the person who holds it to be so.
14 Eu sei, e estou convencido no Senhor Jesus, que não há coisa alguma imunda em si mesma, mas para aquele que pensa que alguma coisa é imunda, para esse é imunda.
15 If, for the sake of what you eat, you wound your fellow follower’s feelings, your life has ceased to be ruled by love. Do not, by what you eat, ruin someone for whom Christ died!
15 Mas, se teu irmão se entristecer com o teu alimento, tu já não andas em amor. Não destruas com o teu alimento aquele por quem Cristo morreu.
16 Do not let what is right for you become a matter of reproach.
16 Não seja, pois, blasfemado o vosso bem.
17 For the kingdom of God does not consist of eating and drinking, but of righteousness and peace and gladness through the presence of the Holy Spirit.
17 Porque o reino de Deus não é comida nem bebida, mas justiça, e paz, e alegria no Espírito Santo.
18 The person who serves the Christ in this way pleases God, and wins the approval of their fellows.
18 Porque quem nestas coisas serve a Cristo, é aceitável a Deus, e aprovado pelos homens.
19 Therefore our efforts should be directed towards all that makes for peace and the mutual building up of character.
19 Sigamos, pois, as coisas que contribuem para a paz e as coisas que são para a edificação de uns para com os outros.
20 Do not undo God’s work for the sake of what you eat. Though everything is ‘clean,’ yet, if a person eats so as to put a stumbling-block in the way of others, they do wrong.
20 Não destruas por causa do alimento a obra de Deus. Todas as coisas são de fato puras, mas são más para o homem que come com escândalo.
21 The right course is to abstain from meat or wine or, indeed, anything that is a stumbling-block to your fellow follower of the Lord.
21 Bom é não comer carne, nem beber vinho, nem alguma coisa que teu irmão tropece, ou se ofenda, ou se enfraqueça.
22 As for yourself — keep this faith of yours to yourself, as in the presence of God. Happy the person who never has to condemn themselves in regard to something they think right!
22 Tens tu fé? Tem-na em ti mesmo diante de Deus. Feliz é aquele que não se condena a si mesmo nas coisas que aprova.
23 The person, however, who has misgivings stands condemned if they still eat, because their doing so is not the result of faith. And anything not done as the result of faith is a sin.
23 Mas aquele que tem dúvidas, é condenado se comer, porque ele não come por fé; pois tudo o que não provém de fé é pecado.
