1 Then I was given a measure like a rod, and a voice said to me — ‘Go and measure the Temple of God and the altar, and count the worshiper there.
1 E foi-me dado um caniço semelhante a uma vara, e o anjo que estava em pé, disse: Levanta e mede o templo de Deus, e o altar, e os que adoram nele.
2 But omit the court outside the Temple, and do not measure that, for it has been given up to the nations; and the holy City will be under their heel for forty-two months.
2 Mas, o átrio que está fora do templo, deixa-o, e não o meças; porque foi dado aos gentios, e eles pisarão a cidade santa por quarenta e dois meses.
3 Then I will give permission to my Two Witnesses, and for those twelve hundred and sixty days they will continue teaching, clothed in sackcloth.’
3 E eu darei poder às minhas duas testemunhas, e elas profetizarão por mil duzentos e sessenta dias vestidos de saco de crina.
4 These men are represented by ‘the two olive trees and the two lamps that stand before the Lord of the earth.’
4 Estas são as duas oliveiras, e os dois candelabros que ficam diante do Deus da terra.
5 When anyone wishes to harm them, ‘fire comes from their mouths and consumes their enemies’; and whoever wishes to harm them will, in this way, inevitably perish.
5 E se algum homem os ferir, fogo sairá de suas bocas e devorará seus inimigos; e se algum homem os ferir, ele deve desta forma ser morto.
6 These men have the power to close the heavens, so that ‘no rain may fall’ during the time that they are teaching; and they have power ‘to turn the streams into blood, and to smite the land with any curse,’ whenever they will.
6 Estes têm o poder de fechar o céu, para que não chova nos dias de sua profecia; e têm poder sobre as águas para transformá-las em sangue, e de ferir a terra com todas as pragas, sempre que quiserem.
7 As soon as they have completed their testimony, ‘the wild Beast that ascends from the bottomless pit will make war on them and conquer’ and kill them.
7 E quando tiverem terminado seu testemunho, a besta que sobe do abismo sem fundo fará guerra contra eles, e os vencerá, e os matará.
8 Their dead bodies will lie in the streets of the great city, which is mystically spoken of as ‘Sodom’ and ‘Egypt,’ where their Master was crucified.
8 E os seus corpos mortos jazerão na rua da grande cidade, que espiritualmente se chama Sodoma e Egito, onde também o nosso Senhor fora crucificado.
9 People of all nations, and tribes, and languages, and races look at their dead bodies for three days and a half, and do not allow them to be laid in a grave.
9 E aqueles dos povos, e famílias, e línguas e nações verão os seus corpos mortos por três dias e meio e não permitirão que seus corpos mortos sejam postos em túmulos.
10 Those who live on the earth rejoice over them and are merry, and they will send presents to one another, because these two prophets brought torments on those who live on the earth.
10 E aqueles que habitam na terra regozijar-se-ão sobre eles e alegrar-se-ão, e darão presentes uns aos outros; porque estes dois profetas haviam atormentado os que habitam sobre a terra.
11 After three days and a half ‘the life-giving breath of God entered these men, and they stood up on their feet,’ and a great terror took possession of those who were watching them.
11 E após os três dias e meio, o Espírito de vida, vindo de Deus, entrou neles, e eles ficaram de pé; e um grande temor caiu sobre aqueles que os viam.
12 The two men heard a loud voice from heaven which said to them — ‘Come up here,’ and they went up to heaven in the cloud, while their enemies watched them.
12 E eles ouviram uma grande voz do céu, dizendo-lhes: Subam para aqui! E eles subiram ao céu em uma nuvem; e os seus inimigos os contemplaram.
13 At that very time a great earthquake occurred. A tenth part of the city fell, and seven thousand people perished in the earthquake. Those who escaped were much terrified, and praised the God of heaven.
13 E na mesma hora houve um grande terremoto, e a décima parte da cidade caiu, e no terremoto foram mortos sete mil homens; e os remanescentes estavam atemorizados, e deram glória ao Deus do céu.
14 The second Woe has passed; and there is a third Woe soon to follow!
14 O segundo ai se passou; e eis que o terceiro ai se aproxima rapidamente.
15 Then the seventh angel blew; and loud voices were heard in heaven saying — ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever.’
15 E o sétimo anjo soou, e houve grandes vozes no céu, dizendo: Os reinos deste mundo se tornaram os reinos do nosso Senhor, e do seu Cristo; e ele reinará para sempre e sempre.
16 At this the twenty-four councillors, who were seated on their thrones before God, prostrated themselves on their faces and worshiped Him,
16 E os vinte e quatro anciãos que estavam assentados diante de Deus em seus assentos, prostraram-se sobre as suas faces, e adoraram a Deus,
17 saying — ‘We thank you, Lord, our God, the Almighty, who is and who was, that you have assumed your great power and reigned.
17 dizendo: A ti damos graças, ó Senhor Deus Todo-Poderoso, que és, e eras, e hás de vir; porque tomaste para ti teu grande poder, e reinaste.
18 The nations were enraged, and your wrath fell on them; the time came for the dead to be judged, and for you to give the reward to your servants the prophets, and to the people of Christ, and to those who honor your name — the high and the low alike — and to destroy those who are destroying the earth.’
18 E iraram-se as nações e é chegada a tua ira, e o tempo dos mortos, para que sejam julgados, e para que tu dês recompensa aos teus servos, os profetas, e aos santos, e àqueles que temem o teu nome, pequenos e grandes; para que destruas os que destroem a terra.
19 Then the Temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark containing his covenant was seen in his Temple; and there followed ‘flashes of lightning, cries, peals of thunder,’ an earthquake, and ‘a great storm of hail.’
19 E o templo de Deus foi aberto no céu, e foi visto no seu templo a arca do seu testamento; e houve relâmpagos, e vozes, e trovões, e um terremoto, e grande granizo.
