1 And the sons of Israel did evil again in the sight of Jehovah, and Jehovah gave them into the hand of Midian seven years.
1 Porém os filhos de Israel fizeram o que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR; e o SENHOR os deu nas mãos dos midianitas por sete anos.
2 And the hand of Midian was strong against Israel. And the sons of Israel made dens for themselves before the faces of Midian, in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds.
2 E, prevalecendo a mão dos midianitas sobre Israel, fizeram os filhos de Israel para si, por causa dos midianitas, as covas que estão nos montes, as cavernas e as fortificações.
3 And it happened after Israel had sown crops , Midian, and Amalek, and the sons of the east came; and they came against them,
3 Porque sucedia que, semeando Israel, os midianitas e os amalequitas, e também os do oriente, contra ele subiam.
4 and camped against them, and destroyed the produce of the land until you enter Gaza. And they left no food in Israel, either sheep, or ox, or ass.
4 E punham-se contra ele em campo, e destruíam os frutos da terra, até chegarem a Gaza; e não deixavam mantimento em Israel, nem ovelhas, nem bois, nem jumentos.
5 For they came up with their livestock, and with their tents. They came in like locusts for number, and there was no number to them, to their camels. And they came into the land to destroy it.
5 Porque subiam com os seus gados e tendas; vinham como gafanhotos, em grande multidão que não se podia contar, nem a eles nem aos seus camelos; e entravam na terra, para a destruir.
6 And Israel was brought very low before Midian. And the sons of Israel cried to Jehovah.
6 Assim Israel empobreceu muito pela presença dos midianitas; então os filhos de Israel clamaram ao Senhor.
7 And it happened when the sons of Israel had cried to Jehovah about Midian,
7 E sucedeu que, clamando os filhos de Israel ao Senhor por causa dos midianitas,
8 Jehovah sent a man, a prophet, to the sons of Israel. And he said to them, So says Jehovah the God of Israel, I have brought you up out of Egypt; and I have brought you out from a house of slaves.
8 Enviou o Senhor um profeta aos filhos de Israel, que lhes disse: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Do Egito eu vos fiz subir, e vos tirei da casa da servidão;
9 And I have delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all your oppressors; and I have expelled them before you; and I have given you their land.
9 E vos livrei da mão dos egípcios, e da mão de todos quantos vos oprimiam; e os expulsei de diante de vós, e a vós dei a sua terra.
10 And I said to you, I am Jehovah your God. You shall not fear the gods of the Amorite among whom you are dwelling in their land. But you have not listened to My voice.
10 E vos disse: Eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus; não temais aos deuses dos amorreus, em cuja terra habitais; mas não destes ouvidos à minha voz.
11 And the Angel of Jehovah came and sat under the oak which is in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite. And his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress, to hide it from the eyes of Midian.
11 Então o anjo do Senhor veio, e assentou-se debaixo do carvalho que está em Ofra, que pertencia a Joás, abiezrita; e Gideão, seu filho, estava malhando o trigo no lagar, para o salvar dos midianitas.
12 And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to him, and said to him, Jehovah is with you, mighty warrior.
12 Então o anjo do Senhor lhe apareceu, e lhe disse: O Senhor é contigo, homem valoroso.
13 And Gideon said to Him, Oh my Lord, if Jehovah is with us, then why has all this happened to us? And where are all His wonders which our fathers recounted to us, saying, Did not Jehovah bring us up out of Egypt? And now Jehovah has left us, and has given us into the hands of Midian.
13 Mas Gideão lhe respondeu: Ai, Senhor meu, se o Senhor é conosco, por que tudo isto nos sobreveio? E que é feito de todas as suas maravilhas que nossos pais nos contaram, dizendo: Não nos fez o Senhor subir do Egito? Porém agora o Senhor nos desamparou, e nos deu nas mãos dos midianitas.
14 And Jehovah turned to him and said, Go in this strength of yours, and you shall deliver Israel out of the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?
14 Então o Senhor olhou para ele, e disse: Vai nesta tua força, e livrarás a Israel das mãos dos midianitas; porventura não te enviei eu?
15 And he said to Him, Oh my Lord, with what shall I deliver Israel? Behold, my family is the weakest in Manasseh, and I the least in my father's house.
15 E ele lhe disse: Ai, Senhor meu, com que livrarei a Israel? Eis que a minha família é a mais pobre em Manassés, e eu o menor na casa de meu pai.
16 And Jehovah said to him, Because I am with you, you shall strike Midian as one man.
16 E o Senhor lhe disse: Porquanto eu hei de ser contigo, tu ferirás aos midianitas como se fossem um só homem.
17 And he said to Him, Please, if I have found grace in Your eyes, then You shall give me a sign that You are speaking with me.
17 E ele disse: Se agora tenho achado graça aos teus olhos, dá-me um sinal de que és tu que falas comigo.
18 Please do not move from here until I come to You and bring my food offering and lay it before You. And He said, I will stay until you come back.
18 Rogo-te que daqui não te apartes, até que eu volte e traga o meu presente, e o ponha perante ti. E disse: Eu esperarei até que voltes.
19 And Gideon went in and prepared a kid of the goats, and unleavened bread of an ephah of flour. He put the flesh in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot. And he brought it out to Him, under the oak, and offered it .
19 E entrou Gideão e preparou um cabrito e pães ázimos de um efa de farinha; a carne pôs num cesto e o caldo pôs numa panela; e trouxe-lho até debaixo do carvalho, e lho ofereceu.
20 And the Angel of Jehovah said to him, Take the flesh and the unleavened bread and place them on this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.
20 Porém o anjo de Deus lhe disse: Toma a carne e os pães ázimos, e põe-nos sobre esta penha e derrama-lhe o caldo. E assim fez.
21 And the Angel of Jehovah put forth the end of the staff in His hand and touched the flesh and the unleavened bread . And the fire rose up out of the rock and burned up the flesh and the unleavened bread . And the Angel of Jehovah went out of his sight.
21 E o anjo do Senhor estendeu a ponta do cajado, que estava na sua mão, e tocou a carne e os pães ázimos; então subiu o fogo da penha, e consumiu a carne e os pães ázimos; e o anjo do Senhor desapareceu de seus olhos.
22 And Gideon saw that He was the Angel of Jehovah. And Gideon said, Alas, Lord Jehovah! Because I have seen the Angel of Jehovah face to face!
22 Então viu Gideão que era o anjo do SENHOR e disse: Ah, Senhor DEUS, pois vi o anjo do SENHOR face a face.
23 And Jehovah said to him, Peace to you, fear not. You shall not die.
23 Porém o Senhor lhe disse: Paz seja contigo; não temas; não morrerás.
24 And Gideon built an altar to Jehovah there, and called it Peace of Jehovah. It is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites until today.
24 Então Gideão edificou ali um altar ao SENHOR, e chamou-lhe: O SENHOR É PAZ; e ainda até o dia de hoje está em Ofra dos abiezritas.
25 And it happened on that night, Jehovah said to him, Take your father's bullock, and the second bullock of seven years; and you shall throw down the altar of Baal which belongs to your father, and you shall cut down the pillar beside it.
25 E aconteceu naquela mesma noite, que o Senhor lhe disse: Toma o boi que pertence a teu pai, a saber, o segundo boi de sete anos, e derruba o altar de Baal, que é de teu pai; e corta o bosque que está ao pé dele.
26 And you shall build an altar to Jehovah your God on the top of this stronghold, in an orderly way, and shall take the second bullock and offer a burnt offering with the wood of the pillar which you have cut down.
26 E edifica ao Senhor teu Deus um altar no cume deste lugar forte, num lugar conveniente; e toma o segundo boi, e o oferecerás em holocausto com a lenha que cortares do bosque.
27 And Gideon took ten men from his servants and did as Jehovah had spoken to him. And it happened, since he feared his father's house and the men of the city, to do it by day, that he did it by night.
27 Então Gideão tomou dez homens dentre os seus servos, e fez como o Senhor lhe dissera; e sucedeu que, temendo ele a casa de seu pai, e os homens daquela cidade, não o fez de dia, mas fê-lo de noite.
28 And the men of the city rose early in the morning. And, behold, the altar of Baal had been smashed, and the pillar beside it had been cut down. And the second bullock had been offered on the altar which was built.
28 Levantando-se, pois, os homens daquela cidade, de madrugada, eis que estava o altar de Baal derrubado, e o bosque estava ao pé dele, cortado; e o segundo boi oferecido no altar que fora edificado.
29 And they each said to his neighbor, Who has done this thing? And they asked and sought. And they said, Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing.
29 E uns aos outros disseram: Quem fez esta coisa? E, esquadrinhando, e inquirindo, disseram: Gideão, o filho de Joás, fez esta coisa.
30 And the men of the city said to Joash, Bring out your son, and he shall die, because he has broken down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the pillar beside it.
30 Então os homens daquela cidade disseram a Joás: Tira para fora a teu filho; para que morra; pois derribou o altar de Baal, e cortou o bosque que estava ao pé dele.
31 And Joash said to all that stood against him, You, will you contend for Baal? Or you, will you save him? He who contends for him shall be killed by the morning. If he is a god, let him contend for himself, because one has smashed his altar.
31 Porém Joás disse a todos os que se puseram contra ele: Contendereis vós por Baal? Livrá-lo-eis vós? Qualquer que por ele contender ainda esta manhã será morto; se é deus, por si mesmo contenda; pois derrubaram o seu altar.
32 And on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal contend against him, because he has smashed his altar.
32 Por isso naquele dia lhe chamaram Jerubaal, dizendo: Baal contenda contra ele, pois derrubou o seu altar.
33 And all Midian and Amalek, and the sons of the east, were gathered together, and crossed over, and camped in the valley of Jezreel.
33 E todos os midianitas e amalequitas, e os filhos do oriente se ajuntaram, e passaram, e acamparam no vale de Jizreel.
34 And the Spirit of Jehovah clothed Gideon with Himself , and he blew with a ram's horn. And the Abiezrites were called after him.
34 Então o Espírito do SENHOR revestiu a Gideão, o qual tocou a buzina, e os abiezritas se ajuntaram após ele.
35 And he sent messengers to all Manasseh, and it also was called after him. And he sent messengers to Asher and Zebulun, and to Naphtali. And they came up to meet them.
35 E enviou mensageiros por toda a tribo de Manassés, que também se ajuntou após ele; também enviou mensageiros a Aser, e a Zebulom, e a Naftali, que saíram-lhe ao encontro.
36 And Gideon said to God, If You are to deliver Israel by my hand, as You have spoken,
36 E disse Gideão a Deus: Se hás de livrar a Israel por minha mão, como disseste,
37 behold, I am placing the fleece of wool on the grain floor; if the dew is on the fleece only, and dryness on all the ground, then I will know that You will deliver Israel by my hand, as You have spoken.
37 Eis que eu porei um velo de lã na eira; se o orvalho estiver somente no velo, e toda a terra ficar seca, então conhecerei que hás de livrar a Israel por minha mão, como disseste.
38 And it was so. And he rose early on the next day and wrung the fleece, and drained dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.
38 E assim sucedeu; porque no outro dia se levantou de madrugada, e apertou o velo; e do orvalho que espremeu do velo, encheu uma taça de água.
39 And Gideon said to God, Let not Your anger glow against me, and I shall speak only this time. Please let me try only this time with the fleece; please let there be dryness on the fleece alone; and let there be dew on all the ground.
39 E disse Gideão a Deus: Não se acenda contra mim a tua ira, se ainda falar só esta vez; rogo-te que só esta vez faça a prova com o velo; rogo-te que só o velo fique seco, e em toda a terra haja o orvalho.
40 And God did so on that night, and there was dryness only on the fleece, and there was dew on all the ground.
40 E Deus assim fez naquela noite; pois só o velo ficou seco, e sobre toda a terra havia orvalho.
