1 Because of this, having left the discourse of the beginning of Christ, let us be borne on to full growth, not laying down again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
1 Por isso, deixando os rudimentos da doutrina de Cristo, prossigamos até à perfeição, não lançando de novo o fundamento do arrependimento de obras mortas e de fé em Deus,
2 of the baptisms, of doctrine, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of dead ones, and of eternal judgment.
2 E da doutrina dos batismos, e da imposição das mãos, e da ressurreição dos mortos, e do juízo eterno.
3 And this we will do, if indeed God permits.
3 E isto faremos, se Deus o permitir.
4 For it is impossible for those being once enlightened, and having tasted of the heavenly gift, and becoming sharers of the Holy Spirit,
4 Porque é impossível que os que já uma vez foram iluminados, e provaram o dom celestial, e se fizeram participantes do Espírito Santo,
5 and tasting the good Word of God, and the works of power of a coming age,
5 E provaram a boa palavra de Deus, e as virtudes do século futuro,
6 then falling away, it is impossible for them again to renew to repentance, crucifying again for themselves the Son of God, and putting Him to open shame.
6 E recaíram, sejam outra vez renovados para arrependimento; pois assim, quanto a eles, de novo crucificam o Filho de Deus, e o expõem ao vitupério.
7 (For the earth drinking in the rain often coming upon it, and producing plants fit for those for whom it is also worked, receives blessing from God;
7 Porque a terra que embebe a chuva, que muitas vezes cai sobre ela, e produz erva proveitosa para aqueles por quem é lavrada, recebe a bênção de Deus;
8 "but bearing thorns and thistles," it is deemed unfit and near a curse, of which the end is for burning.) Gen. 3:17, 18
8 Mas a que produz espinhos e abrolhos, é reprovada, e perto está da maldição; o seu fim é ser queimada.
9 But, loved ones, even if we indeed speak so, we have been persuaded better things concerning you, even holding fast salvation.
9 Mas de vós, ó amados, esperamos coisas melhores, e coisas que acompanham a salvação, ainda que assim falamos.
10 For God is not unjust, to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed to His name, ministering to the saints, and now are ministering.
10 Porque Deus não é injusto para se esquecer da vossa obra, e do trabalho do amor que para com o seu nome mostrastes, enquanto servistes aos santos; e ainda servis.
11 But we desire each of you to show the same eagerness, to the full assurance of the hope to the end;
11 Mas desejamos que cada um de vós mostre o mesmo cuidado até ao fim, para completa certeza da esperança;
12 that you not become dull, but imitators of those who through faith and longsuffering are inheriting the promises.
12 Para que vos não façais negligentes, mas sejais imitadores dos que pela fé e paciência herdam as promessas.
13 For God having made promise to Abraham, since He had no greater to swear by, " He swore by Himself,"
13 Porque, quando Deus fez a promessa a Abraão, como não tinha outro maior por quem jurasse, jurou por si mesmo,
14 saying, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you." Gen. 22:16, 17
14 Dizendo: Certamente, abençoando te abençoarei, e multiplicando te multiplicarei.
15 And so, being long-suffering, he obtained the promise.
15 E assim, esperando com paciência, alcançou a promessa.
16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath to make things sure is to them the end of all gainsaying.
16 Porque os homens certamente juram por alguém superior a eles, e o juramento para confirmação é, para eles, o fim de toda a contenda.
17 In which way, desiring to more fully declare to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His counsel, God interposed by an oath,
17 Por isso, querendo Deus mostrar mais abundantemente a imutabilidade do seu conselho aos herdeiros da promessa, se interpôs com juramento;
18 that through two unchangeable things, in which it was not possible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, those having fled to lay hold on the hope set before us ,
18 Para que por duas coisas imutáveis, nas quais é impossível que Deus minta, tenhamos a firme consolação, nós, os que pomos o nosso refúgio em reter a esperança proposta;
19 which we have as an anchor of the soul, both certain and sure, and entering into the inner side of the veil, Lev. 16:12
19 A qual temos como âncora da alma, segura e firme, e que penetra até ao interior do véu,
20 where Jesus entered as forerunner for us, having become a High Priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.
20 Onde Jesus, nosso precursor, entrou por nós, feito eternamente sumo sacerdote, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.
