1 And Jehovah said to Moses, Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, so that I may set these signs of Mine in their midst;
1 O S enhor disse a Moisés: “Volte ao faraó, pois endureci o coração dele e o de seus oficiais, para que eu demonstre meus sinais entre eles,
2 and so that you may recount in the ears of your son and the son of your son what I exerted Myself to do against Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, and you may know that I am Jehovah.
2 e também para que você conte a seus filhos e netos como eu ridicularizei os egípcios e lhes fale dos sinais que realizei no meio deles. Assim, vocês saberão que eu sou o S enhor ”.
3 And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and said to him, So says Jehovah the God of the Hebrews, Until when will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Send away My people so that they may serve Me.
3 Moisés e Arão foram ver o faraó novamente e lhe disseram: “Assim diz o S enhor , o Deus dos hebreus: ‘Até quando você se recusará a submeter-se a mim? Deixe meu povo sair para me adorar.
4 For if you refuse to send away My people, behold, I am going to bring locusts into your territory tomorrow.
4 Se você se recusar, tome cuidado! Amanhã trarei sobre seu território uma nuvem de gafanhotos.
5 And they will cover the eye of the land, and no one will be able to see the land. And they will eat the rest of that which escaped, that which is left to you from the hail. And they will eat every tree that sprouts to you from the field.
5 Cobrirão toda a terra, de modo que não se poderá ver o chão. Devorarão o que restou de suas colheitas depois da tempestade de granizo, e também todas as árvores que estiverem crescendo nos campos.
6 And your houses will be full, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of the Egyptians, which neither your fathers nor the fathers of your fathers have seen; from the day of their being on the earth until this day. And he turned and went out from Pharaoh.
6 Invadirão seus palácios, as casas de seus oficiais e todas as casas do Egito. Nunca em toda a história do Egito seus antepassados viram uma praga como esta!’”. Quando terminou de falar, Moisés deu as costas ao faraó e saiu.
7 And Pharaoh's servants said to him, How long shall this one be a snare to us? Send away the men that they may serve Jehovah their God. Do you not yet know that Egypt is perishing?
7 Os oficiais da corte se aproximaram do faraó e suplicaram: “Até quando o faraó permitirá que esse Moisés seja uma ameaça para nós? Deixe os homens saírem para adorar o S enhor , o Deus deles! O faraó não vê que o Egito está em ruínas?”.
8 And Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. And he said to them, Go, serve Jehovah your God. Who and who are the ones going?
8 Logo, Moisés e Arão foram trazidos de volta à presença do faraó. “Está bem”, disse ele. “Vão e adorem o S enhor , seu Deus. Mas quem exatamente irá?”
9 And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters. We will go with our flocks and with our herds. For it is a feast of Jehovah to us.
9 Moisés respondeu: “Iremos todos: jovens e velhos, nossos filhos e filhas, e todos os nossos rebanhos, pois celebraremos uma festa em honra ao S enhor ”.
10 And he said to them, May Jehovah be so with you, as I send you away, and your little ones. Watch! For evil is before your face!
10 O faraó retrucou: “Sem dúvida precisarão que o S enhor esteja com vocês se eu permitir que levem seus filhos pequenos! Eu sei do seu plano mal-intencionado.
11 Not so! You and the men go now and serve Jehovah. For you were seeking it. And he drove them out from the face of Pharaoh.
11 De jeito nenhum! Só os homens poderão sair para adorar o S enhor , pois foi isso que vocês pediram”. E o faraó mandou expulsá-los do palácio.
12 And Jehovah said to Moses, Stretch out your hand for the locusts over the land of Egypt, so that they may go up on the land of Egypt and may eat every plant of the land, all that the hail left.
12 Então o S enhor disse a Moisés: “Estenda a mão sobre a terra do Egito para que venham os gafanhotos. Que eles cubram a terra do Egito e devorem todas as plantas que sobreviveram à tempestade de granizo”.
13 And Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt. And Jehovah brought an east wind on the land all that day and all that night. And at morning the east wind lifted up the locusts.
13 Assim, Moisés estendeu a vara sobre a terra do Egito, e o S enhor fez soprar um vento leste sobre a terra durante todo o dia e toda a noite. Quando amanheceu, o vento leste havia trazido os gafanhotos.
14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested on all the territory of Egypt, exceedingly many. Never were there locusts like them before, and afterward none will be like them.
14 Eles invadiram todo o Egito e desceram em nuvens densas sobre seu território, de uma extremidade à outra. Foi a pior praga de gafanhotos em toda a história do Egito e jamais houve outra igual,
15 And they covered the eye of the earth, and the land became dark. And they ate every plant of the land, and all the fruit of the trees that the hail had left. And no greenness was left in the trees and in the plants of the field in all the land of Egypt.
15 pois os gafanhotos cobriram toda a superfície e escureceram a terra. Devoraram todas as plantas nos campos e todas as frutas nas árvores que tinham sobrevivido à tempestade de granizo. Não restou uma só folha nas árvores nem nas plantas em toda a terra do Egito.
16 And Pharaoh hurried to call Moses and Aaron. And he said, I have sinned against Jehovah your God and against you.
16 Sem demora, o faraó mandou chamar Moisés e Arão e lhes disse: “Pequei contra o S enhor , seu Deus, e contra vocês.
17 And now pray forgive my sins only this time, and pray to Jehovah your God that He may take away from me this death only.
17 Perdoem meu pecado apenas mais esta vez e supliquem ao S enhor , seu Deus, que ele me livre desta morte”.
18 And he went out from Pharaoh, and he prayed to Jehovah.
18 Moisés deixou a corte do faraó e suplicou ao S enhor .
19 And Jehovah changed to a west wind, very strong. And it carried the locusts and threw them into the Sea of Reeds. Not one locust was left in all the territory of Egypt.
19 O S enhor respondeu e mudou a direção do vento. Fez soprar um forte vento oeste que levou os gafanhotos para o mar Vermelho. Não sobrou um só gafanhoto em toda a terra do Egito.
20 And Jehovah hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not send away the sons of Israel.
20 Mas o S enhor endureceu o coração do faraó, e ele se recusou a deixar o povo de Israel sair.
21 And Jehovah said to Moses, Stretch out your hand to the heavens so that darkness may be on the land of Egypt, and one may feel darkness.
21 O S enhor disse a Moisés: “Estenda a mão em direção ao céu, e a terra do Egito ficará coberta de escuridão tão densa que poderá ser apalpada”.
22 And Moses stretched out his hand to the heavens, and darkness of gloom was in all the land of Egypt three days.
22 Moisés estendeu a mão em direção ao céu, e uma escuridão profunda cobriu toda a terra do Egito por três dias.
23 They did not see each one his brother, and they did not rise up, each one from his place for three days. Yet to all the sons of Israel there was light in their dwellings.
23 Nesse período, as pessoas não conseguiam ver umas às outras e ninguém saía do lugar. Mas, onde viviam os israelitas, havia luz, como de costume.
24 And Pharaoh called to Moses and said, Go, serve Jehovah. Only leave your flocks and your herds behind. Your little ones may go with you.
24 Por fim, o faraó mandou chamar Moisés. “Vão e adorem o S enhor ”, disse ele. “Podem até levar seus filhos pequenos, mas deixem seus rebanhos aqui.”
25 And Moses said, You must also give into our hands sacrifices and burnt offerings so that we may prepare for Jehovah our God.
25 “De jeito nenhum!”, respondeu Moisés. “Por acaso o faraó nos daria os animais necessários para as ofertas e os holocaustos ao S enhor , nosso Deus?
26 And also our livestock shall go with us. Not a hoof shall be left. For we shall take from them to serve Jehovah our God. And we do not know with what we shall serve Jehovah until we come there.
26 Todos os nossos animais devem ir conosco; não podemos deixar nem um casco para trás. Temos de escolher dentre esses animais para adorar o S enhor , nosso Deus, e só saberemos como adorar o S enhor quando chegarmos lá.”
27 And Jehovah hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he was not willing to send them away.
27 Mais uma vez, porém, o S enhor lhe endureceu o coração, e o faraó se recusou a deixá-los sair.
28 And Pharaoh said to him, Go away from me. Be careful for yourself. Do not see my face again, for in the day you see my face you shall die.
28 “Fora daqui!”, gritou para Moisés. “Estou avisando: nunca mais apareça diante de mim! No dia em que vir meu rosto, você morrerá!”
29 And Moses said, You have spoken rightly. I will not see your face again.
29 “Muito bem”, respondeu Moisés. “Nunca mais verei seu rosto novamente.”
