1 A wise child hears the discipline of a father, but a scoffer does not listen to a rebuke.
1 O filho sábio ouve a instrução de seu pai, mas o escarnecedor não ouve a repreensão.
2 From the fruit of the mouth of a man, he shall eat what is good, but the desire of the treacherous, wrongdoing.
2 Pelo fruto da sua boca o homem comerá o bem, mas a alma dos transgressores comerá a violência.
3 He who keeps his mouth guards his life; he who opens his lips, ruin belongs to him.
3 Aquele que guarda a sua boca guarda a sua vida, mas aquele que abre muito os seus lábios terá destruição.
4 The soul of the lazy craves, but there is nothing, but the person of diligence is richly supplied.
4 A alma do preguiçoso deseja, e nada tem, mas a alma dos diligentes engordará.
5 The righteous hates a word of falsehood; the wicked will bring shame and ⌞disgrace⌟.
5 O homem justo odeia a mentira, mas o homem perverso faz vergonha e é repugnante.
6 Righteousness will guard the upright of way, but wickedness will overthrow sin.
6 A justiça guarda aquele que é reto de caminho, mas a perversidade derruba o pecador.
7 There is one who acts rich but ⌞has nothing⌟; another who pretends to be poor but has wealth.
7 Há aquele que se faz de rico, embora não tenha nada; e há aquele que se faz de pobre, embora tenha grandes riquezas.
8 The ransom of the life of a man is his wealth, but the poor does not receive a threat.
8 O resgate da vida de um homem são suas riquezas, mas o pobre não ouve a repreensão.
9 The light of the righteous will rejoice, but the lamp of the wicked will die out.
9 A luz dos justos se regozija, mas a lâmpada dos perversos se apagará.
10 Only by insolence is strife set up, and wisdom is with those who take advice.
10 Do orgulho provém só a contenda, mas com os bem aconselhados está a sabedoria.
11 Wealth gained from haste will dwindle, but he who gathers ⌞little by little⌟ will increase it.
11 A riqueza conseguida pela vaidade será diminuída, mas aquele que ajunta pelo trabalho crescerá.
12 Hope that is deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
12 A esperança diferida faz adoecer o coração, mas quando o desejo vem, ele é uma árvore de vida.
13 He who despises a word will bring destruction on himself, but he who respects a commandment will be rewarded.
13 Quem desprezar a palavra será destruído, mas aquele que teme o mandamento será recompensado.
14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, in order to avoid the snares of death.
14 A lei do sábio é uma fonte de vida para se livrar dos laços da morte.
15 Good sense grants favor, but the way of the faithless is coarse.
15 O bom entendimento favorece, mas o caminho dos transgressores é duro.
16 Anyone who is clever will act with intelligence, but the fool will display folly.
16 Todo homem prudente negocia com conhecimento, mas o tolo espraia a sua loucura.
17 A messenger of wickedness will fall into trouble, but an envoy of the faithful brings healing.
17 Um mensageiro perverso cai na injúria, mas um embaixador fiel é saúde.
18 Poverty and disgrace belong to him who ignores instruction, but he who guards reproof will be honored.
18 Pobreza e vergonha virão àquele que rejeita a instrução, mas o que considera a repreensão será honrado.
19 A desire ⌞fulfilled⌟ will be sweet to the soul, but an abomination of fools is turning from evil.
19 O desejo cumprido é doce para a alma, mas apartar-se do mal é abominável para os tolos.
20 Walk with the wise and be wise, but as for the companion of fools, he will suffer harm.
20 Aquele que anda com homens sábios será sábio, mas um companheiro de tolos será destruído.
21 Misfortune will pursue sinners, but the righteous ⌞will be rewarded with prosperity⌟.
21 O mal persegue os pecadores, mas aos justos, o bem será retribuído.
22 He who is good will leave an inheritance to ⌞his grandchildren⌟, and stored up for the righteous is the wealth of a sinner.
22 O bom homem deixa uma herança aos filhos de seus filhos, e a riqueza do pecador é depositada para o justo.
23 There is much food in the field of the poor, but ⌞it is swept away⌟ by ⌞injustice⌟.
23 Muita comida está na lavoura do pobre, mas há o que é destruído por falta de juízo.
24 He who withholds his rod hates his child, but he who loves him ⌞gives him⌟ discipline.
24 Aquele que poupa a sua vara odeia o seu filho, mas aquele que o ama, o castiga desde cedo.
25 The righteous eats to satisfy his life, but the belly of the wicked will lack.
25 O justo come para a satisfação de sua alma, mas a barriga dos perversos passará necessidade.
