1 These are the territories that the ⌞Israelites⌟ inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the families of the tribes of the ⌞Israelites⌟ gave as an inheritance to them.
1 Foram estas as terras que os israelitas receberam por herança em Canaã, e que o sacerdote Eleazar, Josué, filho de Num, e os chefes dos clãs das tribos dos israelitas repartiram entre eles.
2 Their inheritance was by lot, just as Yahweh commanded through the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe.
2 A divisão da herança foi decidida por sorteio entre as nove tribos e meia, como o Senhor tinha ordenado por meio de Moisés,
3 For Moses had given an inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan, but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.
3 pois Moisés já tinha dado herança às duas tribos e meia a leste do Jordão. Mas aos levitas não dera herança entre os demais.
4 For the descendants of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they did not give a plot of ground to the Levites in the land, only cities to live in, with their pastureland for their flocks and for their goods.
4 Os filhos de José formaram as duas tribos de Manassés e Efraim. Os levitas não receberam porção alguma da terra; receberam apenas cidades onde viver, com pastagens para os seus rebanhos.
5 Just as Yahweh commanded Moses, so the ⌞Israelites⌟ did; and they allotted the land.
5 Os israelitas dividiram a terra conforme o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés.
6 Then the descendants of Judah came to Joshua at Gilgal; and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the word that Yahweh said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh Barnea concerning you and me.
6 Os homens de Judá vieram a Josué em Gilgal, e Calebe, filho do quenezeu Jefoné, lhe disse: "Você sabe o que o Senhor disse a Moisés, homem de Deus, em Cades-Barnéia, sobre mim e sobre você.
7 ⌞I was forty years old⌟ when Moses Yahweh’s servant sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I returned ⌞with an honest report⌟.
7 Eu tinha quarenta anos quando Moisés, servo do Senhor, enviou-me de Cades-Barnéia para espionar a terra. Eu lhe dei um relatório digno de confiança,
8 My companions who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt, but I remained true to Yahweh my God.
8 mas os meus irmãos israelitas que foram comigo fizeram o povo desanimar-se de medo. Eu, porém, fui inteiramente fiel ao Senhor, ao meu Deus.
9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land that your foot has trodden on will be an inheritance to you and your sons forever, because you remained true to Yahweh my God.’
9 Por isso naquele dia Moisés me jurou: ‘Certamente a terra em que você pisou será uma herança perpétua para você e para os seus descendentes, porquanto você foi inteiramente fiel ao Senhor, ao meu Deus’.
10 So then, look, Yahweh has kept me alive just as he promised these forty-five years, from the time that Yahweh spoke this word to Moses while Israel ⌞wandered⌟ in the wilderness. Now look, today ⌞I am eighty-five years old⌟.
10 "Pois bem, o Senhor manteve-me vivo, como prometeu. E foi há quarenta e cinco anos que ele disse isso a Moisés, quando Israel caminhava pelo deserto. Por isso aqui estou hoje, com oitenta e cinco anos de idade!
11 Today I am still strong, just as on the day that Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so now also is my strength for war ⌞and for daily activities⌟.
11 Ainda estou tão forte como no dia em que Moisés me enviou; tenho agora tanto vigor para ir à guerra como naquela época.
12 So now give me this hill country that Yahweh spoke of on that day, for you heard on that day that the Anakites were there, with great and fortified cities. Perhaps Yahweh is with me, and I will drive them out just as Yahweh promised.”
12 Dê-me, pois, a região montanhosa que naquela ocasião o Senhor me prometeu. Na época, você ficou sabendo que os enaquins lá viviam com suas cidades grandes e fortificadas; mas, se o Senhor estiver comigo, eu os expulsarei de lá, como ele prometeu".
13 And Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh as an inheritance.
13 Então Josué abençoou Calebe, filho de Jefoné, e lhe deu Hebrom por herança.
14 Thus Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he remained true to Yahweh the God of Israel.
14 Por isso, até hoje, Hebrom pertence aos descendentes de Calebe, filho do quenezeu Jefoné, pois ele foi inteiramente fiel ao Senhor, ao Deus de Israel.
15 And the name of Hebron formerly was Kiriath Arba; Arba was the greatest person among the Anakites. And the land rested from war.
15 Hebrom era chamada Quiriate-Arba, em homenagem a Arba, o maior dos enaquins. E a terra teve descanso da guerra.
