1 At the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, this word came from Yahweh, ⌞saying⌟,
1 No início do reinado de Jeoiaquim, o filho de Josias, rei de Judá, veio esta palavra da parte do SENHOR, dizendo:
2 “Thus says Yahweh: ‘Stand in the courtyard of the house of Yahweh, and you must speak to all the cities of Judah that come to bow in worship in the house of Yahweh all the words that I command you to speak to them. You must not omit a word.
2 Assim diz o SENHOR: Permanece no átrio da casa do SENHOR, e fala para todas as cidades de Judá, que chegam para adorar na casa do SENHOR, todas as palavras que eu ordenar que lhes digas; não retires uma palavra.
3 Perhaps they will listen and turn back each from his evil way, and I will relent of the disaster that I am planning to do to them because of their evil deeds.
3 Se acontecer deles ouvirem, e voltar cada homem do seu mau caminho, que eu possa arrepender-me do mal que eu planejo trazer sobre eles, por causa da maldade dos seus feitos.
4 And you shall say to them, “Thus says Yahweh: ‘If you will not listen to me, to walk in my law that I have set ⌞before you⌟,
4 E tu lhes dirás: Assim diz o SENHOR: Se vós não me escutardes, para andar na minha lei, que eu tenho colocado perante vós;
5 to listen to the words of my servants the prophets whom I have sent to you, ⌞over and over again⌟, though you have not listened,
5 para ouvir as palavras dos meus servos, os profetas, a quem eu vos enviei, tanto madrugando quanto os enviando, porém vós não escutastes,
6 then I will make this house like Shiloh, and this city I will make a curse for all the nations of the earth.’ ” ’ ”
6 então eu farei esta casa como Siló, e farei desta cidade uma maldição para todas as nações da terra.
7 And the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the temple of Yahweh.
7 Assim os sacerdotes e os profetas, e todo o povo, ouviram Jeremias falando estas palavras na casa do SENHOR.
8 ⌞And then⌟ as Jeremiah finished speaking all that Yahweh had commanded him to speak to all the people, then the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold of him, ⌞saying⌟, “You will die!
8 Então sucedeu que, quando Jeremias terminou de falar tudo que o SENHOR lhe ordenara falar para todo o povo, os sacerdotes e os profetas e todo o povo, o agarraram, dizendo: Tu certamente morrerás.
9 Why have you prophesied in the name of Yahweh, ⌞saying⌟, ‘This house will be like Shiloh, and this city will be in ruins, ⌞without⌟ inhabitant’?” And all the people gathered around Jeremiah in the temple of Yahweh.
9 Por que tu profetizaste no nome do SENHOR, dizendo: Esta casa será como Siló, e esta cidade será desolada sem um habitante? E todo o povo estava reunido contra Jeremias na casa do SENHOR.
10 When the officials of Judah heard these things, they came up from the house of the king to the temple of Yahweh, and they sat in the entrance of the New Gate of Yahweh’s temple.
10 Quando os príncipes de Judá ouviram estas coisas, subiram da casa do rei para a casa do SENHOR, e assentaram-se na entrada do portão novo da casa do SENHOR.
11 Then the priests and the prophets said to the officials and to all the people, ⌞saying⌟, “⌞This man deserves the death sentence⌟, because he has prophesied against this city as that which you have heard with your ears.”
11 Então, falaram os sacerdotes e os profetas para os príncipes e para todo o povo, dizendo: Este homem é digno de morte, pois ele profetizou contra esta cidade, como ouvistes com os vossos ouvidos.
12 Then Jeremiah said to all the officials and to all the people, ⌞saying⌟, “Yahweh sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.
12 Então, Jeremias falou para todos os príncipes e para todo o povo, dizendo: O SENHOR enviou-me para profetizar contra esta casa e contra esta cidade todas as palavras que vós ouvistes.
13 Now ⌞therefore⌟ amend your ways and your deeds, and obey the voice of Yahweh your God, and Yahweh will relent of the disaster that he has spoken over you.
13 Portanto agora emendai vossos caminhos e vossos feitos, e obedecei a voz do SENHOR vosso Deus, e o SENHOR se arrependerá do mal que pronunciou contra vós.
14 But as for me, look, I am in your hand, do to me what is good and right in your eyes.
14 Quanto a mim, eis que eu estou em vossa mão. Fazei comigo como parecer bem e a vós satisfizer.
15 Only you must certainly know that if you put me to death, you will bring on yourselves innocent blood, and on this city and on its inhabitants, for ⌞truly⌟ Yahweh sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.”
15 Porém, sabei com certeza que, se me matardes, trareis certamente sangue inocente sobre vós, e sobre esta cidade, e sobre os seus habitantes, porque certamente o SENHOR me enviou até vós para falar todas estas palavras aos vossos ouvidos.
16 Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and to the prophets, “⌞This man does not deserve⌟ a sentence of death, for in the name of Yahweh our God, he has spoken to us.”
16 Então disseram os príncipes e todo o povo para os sacerdotes e para os profetas: Este homem não é digno de morte, pois ele nos falou em nome do SENHOR nosso Deus.
17 Then men from the elders of the land arose and said to all the assembly of the people, ⌞saying⌟,
17 Então levantaram-se alguns dos anciãos da terra, e falaram para toda a assembleia do povo, dizendo:
18 “Micah the Morashtite was prophesying in the days of Hezekiah, the king of Judah, and he said to all the people of Judah, ⌞saying⌟: ‘Thus says Yahweh of hosts, “Zion will be plowed, and Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the ⌞temple⌟ as high places of wood.” ’
18 Miqueias, o morastita, profetizou nos dias de Ezequias, rei de Judá, e falou para todo o povo de Judá, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Sião será arada como um campo, e Jerusalém tornar-se-á em montões, e o monte desta casa como os lugares altos de uma floresta.
19 Did Hezekiah, the king of Judah, and all Judah actually put him to death? Was he not in fear of Yahweh? And he entreated the face of Yahweh, and Yahweh relented of the disaster that he had spoken against them. But we are about to do great disaster to ourselves.”
19 Ezequias, rei de Judá, e todo Judá de algum modo o matou? Não temeu ele ao SENHOR, e suplicou ao SENHOR, e o SENHOR não se arrependeu do mal que tinha pronunciado contra eles? Assim nós poderíamos obter grande mal contra nossas almas.
20 Indeed, there also was a man prophesying in the name of Yahweh, Uriah, the son of Shemaiah, from Kiriath-Jearim, and he prophesied against this city and against this land like all the words of Jeremiah.
20 E também houve um homem que profetizou no nome do SENHOR, Urias, o filho de Semaías, de Quiriate-Jearim, que profetizou contra esta cidade, e contra esta terra, conforme todas as palavras de Jeremias.
21 And when King Jehoiakim, and all his warriors, and all the officials heard his words, then the king sought to put him to death. But Uriah heard, and he was afraid, and he fled and went to Egypt.
21 E quando o rei Jeoiaquim, com todos os seus homens poderosos, e todos os príncipes, ouviram as suas palavras, o rei procurou matá-lo. Mas quando Urias ouviu isto, temeu e fugiu, e foi para o Egito.
22 Then King Jehoiakim sent men to Egypt. Elnathan, the son of Achbor, and men with him went to Egypt.
22 E o rei Jeoiaquim enviou homens ao Egito, a saber: Elnatã, filho de Acbor, e alguns homens com ele ao Egito.
23 And they brought out Uriah from Egypt and they brought him to King Jehoiakim, and he struck him down with the sword, and he threw his dead body into the burial sites of the sons of the people.
23 E eles tiraram Urias do Egito, e o trouxeram para o rei Jeoiaquim, que o matou com a espada, e lançou o seu corpo nas sepulturas do povo comum.
24 However, the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that he was not given into the hand of the people to put him to death.
24 Todavia, a mão de Aicão, o filho de Safã, esteve com Jeremias, para que não o entregassem na mão do povo, para matá-lo.
