1 An oracle of Damascus: “Look! Damascus will cease being a city and will become a heap of ruins.
1 A carga de Damasco. Eis que Damasco é destituída de ser uma cidade e será um amontoado de ruínas.
2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted; they will be for the flocks, and they will lie down and ⌞no one will frighten⌟ them.
2 As cidades de Aroer estão abandonadas. Elas serão para os rebanhos, os quais deitarão e ninguém os fará ter medo.
3 And the fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus; and the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the children of Israel,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts.
3 A cidadela também desaparecerá de Efraim, e o reino de Damasco, e o remanescente da Síria. Eles serão como a glória dos filhos de Israel, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
4 “And this shall happen: On that day, the glory of Jacob will be brought low, and the fat of his flesh will become lean.
4 E naquele dia acontecerá, que a glória de Jacó será diminuída, e a gordura de sua carne desaparecerá.
5 And it shall be as ⌞when a reaper gathers⌟ standing grain and he reaps grain with his arm, and it shall be like one who gathers ears of grain in the valley of Rephaim.
5 E será como quando o ceifeiro ajunta o trigo, e colhe as espigas com seu braço. E isto será como aquele que ajunta espigas no vale de Refaim.
6 And gleanings will be left over in it, as ⌞when an olive tree is beaten⌟, two or three ripe olive berries in the top of a branch, four or five on its fruitful branches,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, the God of Israel.
6 Contudo, uvas a serem respigadas serão deixadas nele, como o sacudir de uma oliveira, duas ou três azeitonas na parte mais alta do galho mais elevado, quatro ou cinco nos ramos frutíferos mais distantes dali, diz o SENHOR Deus de Israel.
7 On that day, mankind will look to its maker, and its eyes will look to the holy one of Israel;
7 E naquele dia um homem olhará para o seu Criador, e seus olhos terão respeito para com o Santo de Israel.
8 it will not look to the altars, the work of its hands, and it will not see what its fingers made and the poles of Asherah worship and the incense altars.
8 E ele não olhará para os altares, o trabalho de suas mãos, nem respeitará aquilo que seus dedos têm feito, sejam os bosques sejam as imagens.
9 On that day, ⌞its fortified cities⌟ will be like the ⌞abandonment of the wooded place and the summit⌟, which they deserted because of the children of Israel; and there will be desolation.
9 Naquele dia suas cidades fortificadas serão como um galho abandonado, e um galho na posição mais alta, o qual eles deixaram por causa dos filhos de Israel, e haverá desolação.
10 For you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and you have not remembered the rock of your refuge; therefore you plant plants of pleasantness, and you ⌞plant⌟ a vine of a foreigner.
10 Porque tu tens esquecido o Deus de tua salvação, e não tens estado atento para com a Rocha da tua fortaleza, portanto, tu cultivarás plantas deleitáveis e a plantarás com mudas estrangeiras,
11 On your planting day you make them grow, and in the morning of your sowing you bring them into bloom, yet the harvest will flee in a day of sickness and incurable pain.
11 de dia tu farás tua planta crescer, e na manhã tu farás tua semente florescer. Porém, a colheita será um amontoado, no dia de tristeza e de desesperada dor.
12 Ah! The noise of many peoples, they make a noise like the noise of the seas! And the roar of nations, they roar like the roar of mighty waters!
12 Ai da multidão de muitos povos, que fazem um barulho semelhante ao bramido dos mares e para a investida rápida das nações, que fazem um ataque rápido semelhante ao ímpeto de poderosas águas!
13 The nations roar like the roar of many waters, but he will rebuke him, and he will flee far away. And they are chased like chaff of the mountains before the wind and like tumbleweed before the storm.
13 As nações correrão como a correnteza de muitas águas. Porém, Deus as repreenderá, e elas fugirão para longe, e serão perseguidas como a palha das montanhas diante do vento, e como uma bola de ferro ante o furacão.
14 At the time of evening, and look, terror! Before morning he is no more. This is the fate of those who plunder us and the lot of those who plunder us.
14 Eis que ao anoitecer se apresenta o terror, porém antes do amanhecer já não existem. Este é o destino dos que nos oprimem, a sorte dos que nos roubam.
